    In the video tribute , they didn't include them singing 'He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother' - just the harmonica part. This was one of the greatest rock anthems ever!

    An excellent speech from Little Steven, but at 3:30 he says the Hollies "exquisite harmony was shared only by the Beatles". Appropriately complimentary about the Hollies, but incorrect. For those of us who were there back in the 60's UK music scene, the capable harmonies of small combos were staple for many bands. The sort of harmony of the Hollies and Beatles was very much taught in school and church choirs. Youth club and school dances could always be relied upon to feature this style of music. The Hollies and the Beatles were fortunate to have producers and arrangers who wanted to get it onto their recordings. The Stones on the other hand didn't try and use harmonies as much on their recordings, but listen carefully to some of their early recordings and the harmony voice you will hear is in fact ex-choir boy, Keith Richard!

    After watching these videos a few weeks ago, I became a mega Hollies/Graham Nash fan! Graham, (or Willy as Crosby, Stills, and Young called him), was the one who got my attention the most out of the whole group.I think his accent is cute! I met Terry Sylvester and chatted with him after a British Invasion Tour show two years ago; he was fun to talk to. Graham is next on my list! I hear he's really sweet to all the fans, as well as an incredible performer and storyteller. My parents gave me his audio book of his autobiography "Wild Tales: A Rock and Roll Life, for my birthday recently; I will be listening to it very soon. Shortly after, watching these videos, I went on Spotify, Wikipedia, this site, and others to do research on them and Graham. Now, they are one of my all time favorite British bands. Graham was here last year and did two shows in Philly in February of this year, but I did not attend those shows. Next time he comes my way toward the City of Brotherly Love again, (which I'm hoping and praying will be really soon), I hope to give him a big hug, chat, and maybe even sing a few songs with him! I also hope to thank him for all the great songs he has written and for making a huge impact on my life with The Hollies, CSN/CSNY, and his solo work. Rock on Hollies and keep up the great work, Graham!
    Peace and Love,
    Dara

      My dream came true last month on July 16th, 2016! I saw Graham Nash live in concert for the first time and met him during intermission at his show at the Keswick Theater in Glenside, PA. We took pictures, hugged, and chatted very briefly before he had to go back on stage. When he saw me, he came out and said to me in his light British accent, "Are you Dara?" I was beaming with joy! I feel very blessed to say that he and I have become friends now! The next time he comes back my way to the Philadelphia area, I am definitely going back to see this incredible man!

      As a matter of fact I'm going to one of his shows in a month and will get the chance to meet him. I'm very excited and nervous. Any tips or comments from one fan to another?

    • @Dara604
      @Dara604 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just be yourself, and have fun!! He is the nicest guy you will ever meet! His show is phenomenal too! It's just him and his guitarist Shayne Fontaine with candles lit around the stage and everything! He will take you away on a musical journey you will never forget! It's like he has transformed himself into your next door neighbor who is paying you a visit to sing and talk with you. He still has that perfect voice at 75 years old! He recently got engaged to a beautiful young woman named Amy Grantham who was the inspiration for his new album that came out in April of last year, "This Path Tonight." He tells stories behind every song. And he does a few Hollies and CSN/CSNY songs too. You are in for a real treat! And get ready to sing along to "Our House" and "Teach Your Children!" Have a blast and enjoy the show and meet and greet! You will not be disappointed! I am praying that he will come back to Philadelphia again this year too. We shall see what happens!

    bueno, yo descubro a The Hollies (o más bien la discografía de The Hollies, no sólo esas 4 rolas conocidas) y resulta que tiro toda mi Beatlemanía por la ventana. No me animaba a ir más allá porque los mismos Beatles eran los que los aborrecían, decían que les copiaban todo, entonces debían ser algo malo para mí. Ahora entiendo cuando dicen que son mejores que The Beatles. Yo cuando escuchaba eso sólo me burlaba. Ahora soy yo la que ríe silenciosamente de la mayoría de los Beatlemaniacos encerrados xd. demasiada atención de aquél lado. . .

    This was so not right in my opinion. When Nash left the group, their best work happened. Terry Sylvester should have gotten more recognition. It was HIS harmony we heard on great songs like The Air That I Breathe, He Ain't Heavy, Long Cool Woman and more. Clark did Terry a big disservice by not giving more credit to him.

    • @LG-kl3co
      @LG-kl3co 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not on Long Cool woman, there were no harmonies it was Allan Clarke only. You need to read the recent book by Bobby Elliott it blows away the myth that Allan and Terry had any problems. Terry took issue with Tony Hicks who was by then the group leader and left with a handshake.

    • @Harrisonianne
      @Harrisonianne 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      L G But there's also a line in the book, in which Bobby states that Tony went to ask Terry why his (fck n) wife hated the whole Hollies thing so much and specially Allan (? So we happen to think that was the ballsy question that ruined it all lololol
      Personally, I do believe Terry was planning to leave the Hollies mid 70s, without telling a word to the others. The Sylvester x Clarke problem issue may have been true. This could much explain Clarke's hostile treat to Sylvester in here. Just look how he totally ignore him, while he shakes Bernie Calvert's hand (Terry's closer friend) just in front of him...
