I was too shy to speak, but I knew, that he knew, I knew who he was. I had thought about what I would have said, had I said it at that time. It would have been just this: "Hollies!!!"

Agree about The Bee Gees, they were the Hollies peers back in the day, as well as fellow Macunians, i.e. from Manchester before they immigrated to Australia
Great to see the Hollies in Hall of fame, but they really should have invited Rikfors..he helped them keep going when Allan left, and Rikfors was a great singer himself.
Tony, Allan and Graham were some of the driving force of the Hollies, in the early and most recognizable history. Tony is still doing a great job of carrying on the band forward. Graham tbh is I will admit opinionated, but he does the narrator thing very well, because, or inspite of his ego. He has been fortunate to have been involved in two brilliant bands, in both the Hollies and CSN/CSN&Y.

Unfortunately for Graham he left The Hollies just before arguably their biggest hit 'He Ain't Heavy He's My Brother!' He joined Crosby, Stills Nash (& Young) to go in a different direction, I feel there is no comparison with that song and 'Our House!' but them the breaks!

Graham is still singing, Kev. It was he who helped Allan, along with a vocal teacher, help him get ready for this performance. I doubt Graham would be doing so if his voice was gone.
With respect .I think you might want to read Bobby Elliotts book. Bobby suggests that Allans problem was not that he couldn't sing but the fact that he was alcoholic and had been in and out of Rehab for the problem. The disclosure about his voice going was more in Allans mind due to the booze. It sort of makes sense now as he certainly sounds pretty good on his CD Resurgence now he has his act together. As regards Nash helping him, ......Graham never misses an opportunity , does he :+) ?
Really disappointed that Terry Sylvester wasn't acknowledged more. In my opinion he and not Nash deserved the award. Could be it's because my favorite songs by the Hollies was after Graham Nash left the band. "He ain't heavy, Air that I breathe, and Long Cool Woman" had nothing to do with Graham Nash.
eyeball the hollies on a tour in the UK that had already been scheduled, the hall wanted them for 3 days which would have meant cancelling 2 dates and letting fans down which isnt the hollies style.
Thank God Tony and Bobby were on tour. The perfect excuse to not attend this circus where Nash and Clarke as usual thought that all the show were about them.
eric was a friend of mine and i dreamt about him last night,it was a strange dream but very real and i woke up soon after in the middle of the night,i was very upset and i chatted to him (where ever he is) until i fell asleep ...seeing this cheers me up no end just hearing his voice cos this is how eric was, natural and very funny a real star who everyone loved...long live eric...captain haddock xx
A big ''Hi'' from myself and Middlesbrough Vrinda! I hope you and all are well? Yeah, looks like that happened to me. I lost all my favourite records etc. It was a real challenge to remember them all again. In fact I know for sure i have left lots out this time around. Not to worry though as I have them all (in video) on my iphone.
Well put amy friend. All this talk abut AC not being able to cut the mustard anymore is laughed at by the people in the know. And the example if Brian Wilson is a good one. He is a shadow of his former self but (like you and i) people still want to see and hear him because he is a true legend. ood posting mate.
@nuipret Thank you, Kev. All is well here. If Tony Hicks had been there, there might not have been a need for Adam and Jesse to be there, but since Tony wasn't able to come, and Allan was not sure he could sing well at all, someone had to be there to provide additional harmonies. I agree about the mike. I don't know who did that, but he'd better hope no one ever finds out his name. Thanks again and take care, too!
It's Bernie Calvert. The bloke they labelled with his name is in fact Eric Haydock, his predecessor. Nash is a thoughtful and funny bloke but should have had a bit more self-awareness enough to leave out anything that didn't actually relate to this group. Somewhat cringe-inducing. Why only Clarke and Nash performing and why were TWO singers needed to cover Tony Hicks' parts?
Have just watched this video and it is great The Hollies are in the R &R HOF! Happy to see Allan Clarke and Graham Nash together again, miss Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliott but I have watched the Palladium Concert today also! I was disgusted in Terry Sylvester's dress and behavior dressing like a homeless person instead of dressing up for the occasion wearing a tuxedo and he appeared to be drunk he certainly embarrassed himself on stage his singing was terrible!
The other two guys you are referring to were actually the vocals you heard. And they did a great job of it. Allan has very little left and his microphone was off and Graham's was really low. I thank these two singers because without them it would have been as embarassing as when Edi Brigati sang at the Rascals induction.
Yeah, a nice guy is Bernie. i saw him in 1990. he was bald and had a moustache. He was/is a born again Christian so he was with his own group. It was great to see a true legend.
Bernie Calvert was always religious, and has devoted his post-Hollies career to Catholic religous music. Even when touring with The Hollies between 1966-1980 , he always found a local church to attend.
Oooh can I join the Nash hate squad because the more I hear him the more I am in tune with you guy's His sorry comment about his wife Susan says it all.
I never truly appreciated how much of a fucking butt-plug Graham Nash really is!! Go fuck yourself Nash and don't let the door hit your Ass on the way out!!
totally agree trish. i was a huge fan of carl (and the move) and it would have been great to hear an acknowledgement of his contribution to keeping the hollies hits alive. excuse my lack of capitals, just pure laziness as i can't be bothered to hit the 'cap' key! please don't think i'm a newcomer here, i was knwn as 'nuipret' for 5 years and a couple of weeks ago couldn't access my account (don't know why as i wasn't banned) so i have had to re-join in another name. really annoying!

Hi Vrinda! Yes, still on youtube! Hope all ok for you back home? Good to hear from you after so long.
doesnt seem like 2 years since my last comment !! im still missing eric but now my old boss and friend rick harrison has now left us,rick will be missed by his family and friends but im sure he will be welcomed by his good friend eric,i cant imagine the chaos eric and rick will be causing but im sure they will be pleased to see each other again and im sure rick will be getting abused financially by eric as im sure his few year head start has given him a tactical start on rick but to be fair rick is used to that already ...i will miss both of these characters but im glad they are together and i feel sorry for myself when my time comes as i dont stand a chance!! xx
Banda sensacional
Graham is still singing, Kev. It was he who helped Allan, along with a vocal teacher, help him get ready for this performance. I doubt Graham would be doing so if his voice was gone.
Yes you can hear Graham still singing the very high harmonies during the chorus.
They all got the award. Graham was an original member of the band and was there when they had their first hits, so he does deserve it.
Where in the hell is Bobby Elliott and Tony Hicks?
eyeball the hollies on a tour in the UK that had already been scheduled, the hall wanted them for 3 days which would have meant cancelling 2 dates and letting fans down which isnt the hollies style.
The current line-up are touring. But a nice touch having some original members there to pick up the award.
The Hollies Forever 👍👍👍👍👍👍
2:40 They `ve put Bernie Calverts name under Eric Haydock.
Bernie comes on right after Eric.
Terry is great.
im sure as someone who knew eric well he will be happy about that mistake and bernie will now be getting chased by erics debtors....ha ha h ha .xx
Hermosa banda sonora de nuestras vidas felicitaciones!
Who else noticed Paul Shaffer and his band backing up?
bus stop my fav Hollies Song
@Knugabug
Well, that was 27 years ago. And they were already in their 40's in 1983.
Time marches on.
Try late 30s
Well put amy friend.
All this talk abut AC not being able to cut the mustard anymore is laughed at by the people in the know.
And the example if Brian Wilson is a good one. He is a shadow of his former self but (like you and i) people still want to see and hear him because he is a true legend.
ood posting mate.
just wanted to hear erics voice again...xxx😇
But this video was recorded from your tv.screen and not is direct HD…😤
They didnt show the name of man after bernie calvert.
The order of appearance was Alan Clarke, Graham Nash, Eric Haydock (not Bernie Calvert as shown on screen), then Bernie, then Terry Sylvester.
Bernie Calvert is actually the name of the one next tuo speech
@nuipret Thank you, Kev. All is well here. If Tony Hicks had been there, there might not have been a need for Adam and Jesse to be there, but since Tony wasn't able to come, and Allan was not sure he could sing well at all, someone had to be there to provide additional harmonies. I agree about the mike. I don't know who did that, but he'd better hope no one ever finds out his name. Thanks again and take care, too!
and bobby and tony?
3:04 They could put the other band members' names in the graphics but they skipped this guy? Did they consider him insignificant?
Just wondering when Terry, Bernie & Eric are speaking - where did Allan and Graham go? Are they just standing out of sight of the camera?
Yeah, a nice guy is Bernie.
i saw him in 1990. he was bald and had a moustache. He was/is a born again Christian so he was with his own group.
It was great to see a true legend.
Bernie Calvert was always religious, and has devoted his post-Hollies career to Catholic religous music. Even when touring with The Hollies between 1966-1980 , he always found a local church to attend.
I always like Bernie too.
Talented like rest and quite a looker too.
.
how many times did nash say i, not we, us.....just i, me...........alot!!!
that's what I was thinking ...what a fucking bagrash he is....Me me me me, I,I I,I,.....fuck off Nash and pass the microphone you tube
Nash quit the Hollies to join up with druggies. Why the hell is he the chief spokesman? What a jerk!
He was definitely involved in some great music but the guy is beyond insufferable.
That's why Tony and Bobby did not go,they knew Nash was going to do that.Nash didn't deserved to be there.
Oooh can I join the Nash hate squad because the more I hear him the more I am in tune with you guy's His sorry comment about his wife Susan says it all.
Graham Nash thinks he's the only one in the band.
I never truly appreciated how much of a fucking butt-plug Graham Nash really is!! Go fuck yourself Nash and don't let the door hit your Ass on the way out!!
Have never liked him such an arrogant prick
yep i totally agree....a band is a band ,,,,,great musicians them all...
Also agree. Nash is so fucking pompous and smug.
The Hollies were better than the Beatles. FACT! And why the hating on Graham Nash on here? What he said was really humble and heartfelt
totally agree trish. i was a huge fan of carl (and the move) and it would have been great to hear an acknowledgement of his contribution to keeping the hollies hits alive.
excuse my lack of capitals, just pure laziness as i can't be bothered to hit the 'cap' key!
please don't think i'm a newcomer here, i was knwn as 'nuipret' for 5 years and a couple of weeks ago couldn't access my account (don't know why as i wasn't banned) so i have had to re-join in another name. really annoying!
Too bad Allan & Graham didn’t have the good grace to include Terry in the performances
A real shame, why did they blank him? He was a real god send after Graham left. He was an excellent high harmony foil to Allan & Tony
The best....band..from the british invasion...to me
And Tony Hicks and Bobby Elliot??
Terry in his Liverpool top :)
Rob McCluskey and
and... erm, what ?
Mary-Anne Ryzniczuk u
It should be called the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame now, everybody and every genre gets in now.
