Can't wait for your work-wear look book! I love other beauty/fashion vloggers' channels, but your's is so much more relatable--I think the majority of us watching have to go to a typical 9-5 job and videos like this are very helpful. I would love to see more videos from you geared towards the work place, maybe work appropriate makeup looks or a starter "kit" of work-wear clothing and how to mix and match between them to get a variety of outfits out of a few pieces for those of us who are just getting into the workforce and can't spend a ton of money on buying a lot of pieces.

I would love to see an interview outfit video. I'm about to graduate university and I struggle to break away from the idea of 'a blazer and slacks' for an interview.
Thank you for the suggestion! As a quick tip, I would say go for your sharpest outfit in terms of tailoring. A favourite of mine is to go for a fitted dress (knee length) with a blazer on top. I also wouldn't be afraid to go for colour - I've worn a black dress with a pale pink blazer over it before and I think it worked well (and I got the offer!). Remember to go for unfussy pieces that you feel good in as well - you don't want to be fidgeting and if you feel comfortable, you'll be able to focus more on what you're saying!

Love this video! For me, my essencial is a very nice white blouse/cami. When I see a good one I always buy it! And also I find trousers to be really a great option. I love blazers as well but unfortunately I really cant pull them off. I think they look great if you have a longer upper body. Thanks for the video.

Hi Amie, just echoing the thoughts of everyone else in the comment section but this was such a great and relatable video! Often lifestyle and beauty bloggers get carried away and do not exactly cater to the everyday 9-5 employed audience. This was so refreshing to watch! I cannot wait to see the look book.
As for video, I'm not sure if you've already done this but how about your own twist on 'Products Not Worth the Hype', like 'Handbags not Worth the Hype'? I would love to hear your thoughts on the Gucci Dionysus, YSL Blogger Bag and the Givenchy Antigona etc. I really hope you get a chance to read this comment haha.
Thanks Blair! I LOVE the idea although I may have to do it with items that I've owned (or at least a mix!). I'm always a bit hesitant to comment on bags I don't own in that way as I'm aware that others will own and love them - as it comes down to personal taste, I don't want to offend and I do believe you should just buy what you love :) As for the bags you mentioned, I like them all although I am wary of the new Gucci bags and won't consider them myself for another few seasons to see how they last in terms of trends. YSL blogger bag is very cute and I actually just bought a Givenchy Antigona so I'm a fan! :)

Excellent guide to what to wear to work. At 51 I'm pleased to say that I've worked this out for myself over the years, but I wish that something like this had been available when I was starting out. As well as the brands recommended by Amie, I can also recommend Jigsaw and Hobbs for good basics, dependent on your budget.

Hi Julia! If you wait for Banana Republic and even J Crew sales, you can get most of these pieces for really reasonable prices. I have several pencils skirts that I love which I bought for around £25. Make sure to sign up to their mailing lists and you'll get first dibs on their sales :)

Thank you Amie for this great video. Great options and explanations. I wanted to know if you can give suggestions of "commuting foot wear" LOL... I find my heels/shoes/booties get damaged in my commute to work and that keeps me from investing in more expensive shoes I don't want ruined. At the same time, I want to look put together when going to work. What footwear do you recommend?

haha that is a lot of suggestions, thank you! I buy all my tights from Marks and Spencers and just up the dernier as it gets colder :) My lookbook shows coats too - it was freezing when I filmed it so winter appropriate outfits were necessary!

Love this! Theory is definitely one of my favorite workwear brands. Have you looked into Nanette Lepore or Anne Fontaine? They are the best for quality workwear with a feminine twist! I love Anne Fontaine for tops and Nanette Lepore for blazers/suits and dresses. I also love Diane Von Fursenberg for dresses (though I tend to shy away from the one's that are super patterned)!
Yes, I have a blouse form Nanette Lepore! It doesn't seem to be as widely stocked anymore which is such a shame! I've never heard of Anne Fontaine, will certainly check it out though - thank you for the tip! :)
Of course :) Definitely check them out! I buy almost everything on the pre-love market so I'm not sure about current stock, but there are lots of great Nanette Lepore pieces from previous seasons out there!
I have built my on budget formal attire wardrobe through h&m, mango , mango outlet . I got an entire suit at mango outlet ( they do have an online store and also a real store in Oxford st in London ) for just 30£
You know, I have never had any luck with Mango! Their things just don't fit me well which sucks because their clothes always look gorgeous! There's one right by my work and I always get drawn in only to leave empty handed haha. You're lucky that it works for you! :)

So TB will usually have end of season sales (around end of December/ January) which is where I bought my burgundy one at 50% off. However, with black friday coming up, they may do a sale then. I'm planning on doing a video and blog post on all the best sales so I will definitely let everyone know if the Perry tote goes on sale anywhere (I'm hoping to snag another one myself!).
My current workplace is pretty casual (like jeans and tshirt casual). In your video you mention you should dress for the job you want not the job you currently have. Do you have any recommendation on how to dress for a work space that's pretty casual? I want to feel like I'm going to work :) Also any recommendation on a great place to get good jeans?
