I don't usually do this but, Here is some raw footage of me fishing. No cuts or editing. Just me fishing with the new Curado BFS.
Brandon Hewitt here with B Random Fishing and I have a special one for you today. I got my hands on the new Curado BFS XG!!! I went to Walmart and bought some Zebco Hotcast 2 piece med light rods that are 4’6” and rated down to 1/16 oz. They are the closest thing I could find to a BFS rod in my price range, haha. For $5.88 I was really surprised at how well they worked. Anyways I bought two so this test would be fair.
First cast! That's all I have to say! Look at that first cast. This was setup casting a 1/16oz roadrunner with the brakes set to 4 and two magnets removed. The spool tension is super loose, just a tiny bit of side to side play in the spool.
I'm using Berkley 5x 10lb braid and a 4’6” Zebco hotcast rod. Its not made for BFS but it is all that the American market offers at the moment in my budget and in two piece. I might break down and buy the Shimano one for 50 bucks but i have some coming from japan, sooooooo would ya'll wait or just buy the new rod?

Try roll casting the curado. There should be some videos on how to cast bfs reels to get the most distance without risk of birdsnesting
I will look that up, it will be interesting to see if I can do it with the $5 rod, haha
I'm getting more and more interested in that curado bfs! I have a random 20 bucks baitcaster with a shallow spool that I can cast down to 3-4 grams with, but I still want to go lighter and the JDM BFS reels are a bit too pricy
I am really liking it so far. I cant wait to get in my new rods. That is what is holding me back right now. Even with this rod I am casting a 1\16 oz bait 1.772 grams pretty well. The cast test video I did I was hitting 65 feet.
Did you try taking out all the magnets when casting that fly?
Yeah, I took both magnets off for the whole video. I think if I had an ultra light rod I could have casted the fly better. The only down side to the fly is that it catches a lot of wind. I think it is heavy enough to cast but you can see it slow down in mid cast when it catches the air.
There are also some really nice bfs rods on aliexpress for under $40-50. I have multiple bfs rods from aliexpress ranging from $20-150 and I love almost all of them
I have 3 on the way, but I ordered them when I ordered the reel and haven’t got them in yet. I have a sougayilang telescopic rod, a lurekiller ul/l with two tips, and a 4piece lure killer 1.4m rod. I can’t wait to try them out. What one is your favorite that you got?
@@BRandomFishing I actually have the lure killer and that is one of my favorite ones but it is a trout bfs rod so it is going to be a lot softer than a bass bfs rod just an FYI. Excited to see you go on the BFS journey!!
@@gobybryant1001 Thanks man! I grew up finesse fishing in northern Michigan fishing for trout and bass. I would use 6lb test and a 3" banjo minnow and try and wrangle 3 lb bass out of the lily pads! I love finesse fishing and cant wait to hear that curado drag scream on the next big one!
Man I love the color on your rod man. That was a nice catfish you caught. The funny part is when you released it. It look like the fish was on a Rod leash with you walking behind the fish letting it go for a swim. "LOL" and then all the sudden the fish just takes off. Brandon have a question? My son said I should get some water shoes like those. My son was with his best friend and his father and they bought a pair and my son tried on a pair he said. I'm surprised they fit on his wide feet. How comfortable are they? Was it okay walking on the rocks with them , did you have any problems with them trying to slip off your foot while walking in the water. I would like to get a pair I just don't think they make them wide enough for a foot that 6 1/2 inches wide. I think if my toes wasn't straight across and was at a 45-degree angle like everybody else's toes shoes might fit on my foot a little better. My son means well he's trying to help me wish I really do appreciate cuz he knows how my feet has been getting sunburned really bad here lately for some reason and he's trying to help. I enjoyed watching the video it was good man.
Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I just watched it again and it does look like it was my pet catfish, haha. I do like the shoes, they are better than walking barefoot but they have a really thin rubber sole so you do feel the rocks. They also will come off if you run or jump, they dont have any ties or strings to keep them tight. The thing I hate most about them is that they are so low when i walk in the gravel, some will get kicked up and go in the shoe so I have to take them off and dump out the gravel.
@@BRandomFishing yes it did look like your pet catfish in the water. I thought that was so funny and awesome man. Not a lot of fishermen can say that happened to them. Yes I can agree better than walking barefooted 👣 in the water depends on where you at. Everything I do when it comes to water has to be done Barefooted 👣 for me. I was in the water one time trying to get in my kayak and my right side flip flop came off and floated down the river and I lost it. I was on a big kayak camping trip doing like 40 some miles when this happen. We we're like 15/20 mile in to the trip. I had to finish out the rest of the trip barefooted 👣 which suck for being the only Footwear that I can wear. We stopped at restaurant next to the river to get some burger to eat and I had to stand outside because I can go inside the store barefooted 👣 the manager at the restaurant was nice to me allowed me to come in barefooted 👣 to eat. I had to call my wife and have her to order me a new pair of reef Fanning and had them delivered as soon as possible. Okay so the sole are thin and you can feel the Rock ok. Will that's good that they don't try to come off while walking in the water. Gravel can get inside the shoe sometimes ok. I haveing my son read this reply since he try them on. Is this rod available in Walmart Canada?
I am not sure about Canadian Walmart’s, I only go to the casinos, haha. For $5 it is actually pretty nice. It is really short so it makes for a good kayak rod and it would be good for streams. It’s on Walmart.com here as well. I have some lure killer rods from Ali express coming but they got damaged so they need to ship again. Ordering things from China kinda sucks sometimes
