  • Today I go back to simpler way of life and do some gravel road agate hounding. I tried to include a good variety of rocks(agates, fossils, jasper, etc.) and some good rockhounding tips. I wanted to show what to look for when trying to identify agates in gravel roads. Thanks for watching!

You had some great finds there. I think it's really funny to hear that your favorite find of the day was the fossilized coral. I can pick up fossils all day long here, so they don't excite me that much. I'd much rather find any of those little agates you were finding. I loved that little lake near the end of your video.

That reminds me of when I visited my cousin in Montana. I was really excited to catch some trout and my cousin thought they were boring and wanted to go to Minnesota to catch some "cool" fish like bass and northerns lol. The fossils in my area are very few and far between, and when I do find one it's almost always just a shell impression. So it was pretty cool to find one that actually had some intact coral.

Gravel roads are my favorite for finding little agates that are perfect tumbling material! I agree, sometimes the little ones have the most beautiful details. And occasionally you'll find one with nice size, which is always a treat. But who cares about size! An agate is an agate 😄 Great video man, can't wait to see what you post next.

You might try less travelled roads with larger gravel and building sites that allow public access where tons and tons of fill have been brought in. I have found petrified wood, banded chert, agates, jasper and even artifacts. Enjoyed this video. I saw you with the Michigan rock guy. Sorry can’t remember the full name, but he has a great channel.
