    In case someone comes here looking for a way to set up a second board, and you don't have the arrow down feature (01:51), it's likely because your project is set up to be team-managed vs. company-managed.
    Team-managed projects only support single boards (as for March 2024).

    I created 2 separate Kanban boards and the stories in the first board automatically appeared in the 2nd board. How can I make sure the 2nd kanban board doesn't pick up the stories in the first board and I can create new stories in the 2nd board

      Their appearance on boards is linked to Statuses

    What would you recommend for the following use case: you have a cross-team (1 Tech Lead, devs from different backgrounds) that attends different project initiatives (small, medium and large).
    I tried:
    - Having a backlog for each product/project but when projects are more than 6, I think It's a little bit tricky to manage.
    I am gonna try to have a single backlog for all of projects but with different boards.
    I would appreciate to hear your approach.

    • @defineagile

      I like to have single backlog and projects as epics. Not really a Jira way but if same people work on all the issues easier to prioritize and manage. For separate independent teams - i use projects.

      If Statuses are the same, they will automatically appear in other board. I am going to launch video in a week or so about similar scenario.

    Quick question, I was implementing this view of having 2 boards for the same project for 2 different teams and I got to an issue of having things "Done" on the design side but that will be "Ready for Development" in the other side (developer board).
    The problem now is that the issue becomes marked as "Done" even though is still "ready for development". I guess this will be a conflict right? Maybe when the design team finalizes the work, that status should not marked the issue as "Done". Any suggestions?
    Also, probably for reporting purposes I'd get a conflict? Haven't test this last bit yet.
    Cheers man.
    Thanks for the good work.

    • @defineagile
      @defineagile  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Good question. If you want issues to flow from one board to another, you can't have it be marked as done on Board #1, so Board #1 needs to end with the first status of Board #2. For example in Design Board the last phase would be "Ready For Development" and in Development Board the last Status should be Done.
      Does that make sense ?

      Boards are just Filters, If you have this issue most probably you have issue with the same status being on 2 boards, so you will have to remove this status from one of the boards. Hope it makes sense!

      It depends. If both boards are part of the same sprint - velocity will be shared, if parallel sprint - separate velocities.

    This is a great video! But I have 1 Jira Project. Within that Jira Project, I have 3 Smaller projects that I would like to have separate Kanban boards. How can I sort the Issues within each Kanban board? Some Issues need to be on the other Kanban boards. Is there a way I can move Issues to the correct kanban board within the same project?

    Quick question there are 4 different teams who are working together to complete a story In same jira project. there are 4 Kanban boards: Team Development, Team Beta, Team Engg & Team Testing. Can we use same status (eg In progress)for each board n move jira ticket from one board to another board till testing board.
    Team Dev In progress ticket 1, Team Beta same ticket will be moved to In progress.

    • @defineagile
      @defineagile  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Saira, Unfortunately status is what defined if tickets will be shown in the board, so you will need different In Progress statuses if you want them to show on every board: In Progress Team Dev, In Progress Tem Eng etc

    Hi I have 2 different boards one for project1 for product but same team members would be working on both the boards as per the availability how can I create a planning estimations for the team and how can I track the work for both the boards thank you

    • @defineagile
      @defineagile  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I dont fully understand your question. Board is just a filter so if they are in the same project estimation will carry. If they are for different projects you have to track each separately. For planning if one project you can create a master board with all the tickets in a single planning board. Hope this helps.

      Check what status do you have on the swim lane of board where it appears, is it Todo ? By default Backlog is in To Do Status, so wherever you have To Do status item will leave.

    What if you have multiple teams (3) working on the same project each on a different feature but do have few dependencies on certain tasks only. How can we manage that with Kanban board in Jira?

    • @defineagile
      @defineagile  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      If Tickets need to overlap e.g it goes from Design to Dev to QA and each of them is like 10 steps, I would create 3 separate boards and connect them with statuses. Essentially last status of Board #1 will be first Status of board #2, thus tickets will appear on next board after people move it to the last column of the previous board.
      Does that answer your question ?

    • @defineagile
      @defineagile  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you can have 1 backlog per project because both boards share the statuses they are just filters. Also in Kanban you dont usually have backlog, your first column acts as a backlog.

      hmm Sorry trying to understand the use case, you have a backlog, and backlog has bunch of tickets in TODO, and you have multiple boards, and different tickets go to different boards ? Can you give me an example ? In case of lets say Design Tickets vs Development Tickets I would have different types: Design tickets vs regular Story, that was I can clearly see.
