There's so much more to an exhaust note than how loud it is and, honestly, I think you nailed it. Awesome work, mate. I'm not a fan of CXs (matter of personal taste) but I've really enjoyed what you've done to this one - I guess that makes it all the more impressive. Amazing job, especially on the budget you've been working to.
Matthew Wright thank you so much mate definitely has a unique sound and you’re 100% right about the science that goes into a muffler I learnt this from trial and Error lol 😂
I had the EXACT starting problem. My friend suggested that I try them the other way around. I scoffed. But was out of ideas. So I tried t and started right up. Bummer it happened to you. But I’m glad that I wasn’t the only one. Great work! Thanks for everything you do here on your channel.
Awesome. When you were doing the tank graphics I noticed that you really pay attention to the lines on the bike. That’s so important if you want something that’s visually appealing. You can use the best parts and the best fabricating but if you don’t follow the lines of what you’re doing it disrupts your eyes natural path and just doesn’t look right. Very nice.
I ran megaphone muffler on my old 250 Ninja express lane to work everyone got outta the way. Doing the speed limit sounded like i was doing three times the speed. Clamped on and mount bent perfect fit.
Dont know who made the music that was used in the background of this video but i am for sure amazed it doesnt cause false copyright strikes for the pink floyd parts
First CX500 equipped with a catalytic converter! 1:45 It wasnt sparking at bottom dead center, it was sparking at top dead center but on the exhaust stroke. Anyway: The bike sounds awesome. :) I own a CX 500, too. But completely stock.
It lives at long last , sounds awesome Dan . Been a long road but ya got there and on budget. Well done . Hope all is well in this troubled times and you an yours are safe mate
Great job Dan, had to smile when you said you worked till midnight because you were in the 'flow'. Been there, done that, what a state to be in! 😎 I was hoping you were going to pull that screened silencer out while it was running to really hear the difference between the before and after before you welded it in. Awesome budget build. 👍
Combustion Junction definitely staying safe brother and hope the same for you and your family, I’m over the moon about how good it sounds I couldn’t have made it sound any better if I tried
@@CafeRacerGarage That logo should be on the tank, btw amazing job, honestly I prefer the other angle on the exhaust for a scrambler but on the end it fit very well and the sound is amazing.
Just a heads-up from my own personal experience... use VHT Header paint for headers and slip-ons... it has a 1300 degree tolerance and will not fog up. I've tried using the VHT Engine which has a tolerance of 500 degrees and it fogged.
scramblers back in the day had the pipes up at knee height to avoid smashing them into rocks and roots. Your pipes goes below the bottom so you cant even make a protection plate for the bottom of the engine. But if your gonna use it as a street bike then it doesn't even matter. I like otherwise what you did to the project.
Hi Dan, Congrat !!! it looks and sounds really good . Looking forward to see it running around those pines. I freed up the cx engine . New project on the way, thanks . Gus
Nice1 when I had mine about 10 years ago, mine had a two to two exhaust with a H pipe under the engine and I took the cans off back to the H and just had slash cut I thought it was amazing 😂 now I leave baffles in and wear ear plugs (not even 30 yet)😂
Now this bike is nearly finished, is there any plans for a new project? I enjoyed this build, it looks and sounds amazing congratulations on the great build..
I need to finish the CB705 cafe build and also have another CX500 and a XV750 virago to turn into a cafe racer You can see them here in this video th-cam.com/video/5JKlMK1iIUQ/w-d-xo.html Enjoy
Woohoohoo.....getting close now!! I like the idea of a budget video. Not sure if you've been keeping time sheets, but that would also be great to know. What is the time investment for a project like this. Way to go Dan!
If you look at the date when i started you will see how long its taken here in the first video of the build th-cam.com/video/II0DIgJ9EA4/w-d-xo.html Having said that, I video everything and that ads a lot of extra time to even the smallest tasks, allow yourself one and a half to two years if you can, that's if you are only working on it on the weekends, A lot faster if you can do it full time
@@CafeRacerGarage I'm glad you answered that way! I've been watching the whole time, but wasn't sure how much was just video timing and how much was actual build time! One-two years sounds very realistic, and doable! Keep going man....loving the content!
And what better way to practice social distancing (I'm gonna get so sick of hearing that term) than to split for the wilderness by one's self on a motorcycle? Big ups, my man.
Tulsa Moto Club I always shoot in manual now and sometimes I can fluke it and get it bang on, thank you for noticing and drop in a comment, I should probably use my histogram on the screen now that you mentioned it lol 😂
I need help I bought a car back exhaust for my car and ended up writing the car off , bought a new car now if I got the mufflers and y pipe custom fitted to my g37 (new car) would that work ?????? Pls someone answer
Stuff used in this video:

She sounds so good with the baffle. Nice to see that she is almost ready for the road.

Mate, it sounds so much better with that little muffler. Not "in your face" anymore. Great result! :)
Amazing work, thank you for sharing! I'm under house arrest with coronavirus so I'm building a bike and your videos really inspire me.
I feel like ive been waiting so long to see this thing ride through those woods
great troubleshooting, glad to hear it worked out!
DUUUUDE!!! The angle is perfect and the sound is epic. Nice work, as always. 💪

The new angle almost lines up with that Airpod -> Valve cover -> Exhaust header line!
very true, the luggage rack line was what I was going for as I probably won't ever take that off as I think it gives the bike its unique look :)
Looks ace with that low slung can on it. The exhaust is the last big thing i need to do on mine. Very helpful seeing how you tackle these challenges.
Awesome man! Its been great to watch this bike come together. looking forward to seeing out and you riding it.

Sounds realy good ! and i like the way the bike looks as well ! Supper job, i think. Ride on!
Great! -you did it again. Just how i like it... And that still to come - youre killing me!
Cant wait to see!
Greetings from Croatia!
Had my big headphones on for this one. Sounds great! Nice work Dan, hope you’re keeping safe and the family is well.

Pipe looks heaps better. A 'cafe racer garage' logo on the muffler might be icing on the cake
Thruxt0 6 you may actually be onto something there. I like the way you think

Thats a good lookin bike man. Good job
Awesome sound bro! Woww... Wish i can get one for my cafe racer
Super work!!!
Mad Beard thank you mate 😁
Dan, great video, your bike looks like one of Steve McQueen’s Triumphs that he desert raced in sunny Southern California, sounds great!
The bike looks amazing!!!!!!!!!
Matt Hyman Taking it for a spin was the most exciting part of the entire build as I’m sure you can imagine

can't wait for the ride video! :D

Thats awesome mate, I'm super happy with it, unfortunately that pine forest is only tiny so I guess I need to find a bigger place to ride it :)

ah!.. the bike has finally some sound :D
have been waiting so long for this :)
Nice work, sounds great, love the CX sound any day !
Can’t wait to here it on the road under load
Been following all along... nice build, fellow builder! I just started on a new project myself...1978 Honda Hawk soon to be Scrambler...
Definitely not copper bait now 👌 Good job m8 : )
Try and buy a SC PROJECT PIPE. that would sound great on that bike sir!

Hey, I'm building a bike right now and I'm having huge problems getting pods to work with the bike, any suggestions on what to do?
I did the same thing with my coils when I rewired my shadow
Damn i was just in the same situation with my gsx250 i had to coils on backwards couldn't figure out why it wouldn't run.
I think you ment that it was firring on exhaust stroke and not on the compression stroke
New camera or lens?
No not at all, why do you ask that brother? looks different?
@@CafeRacerGarage the opening shot looked more sharp than usual. Or maybe it was shot in a different resolution.

Instead of swapping coil pack connections, just swap leads over..
bizeemi vas Unfortunately the leads were just a little bit too short for that
