Thank you so much for uploading this. I started watching the Pistons around that time, and there are so many interviews waiting to be digitized. 99% of libraries do it for free.
Aguirre is better than at least 12 guys in the Hall. HS great player, college best player, 6 great years as one of the top 5 forwards in the NBA, only Mexican-American great, only guy with 20 ppl not in the Hall, on and on......
You don't see a regular telecast like this with real genuine conversation, everything is so fake and scripted now-a-days; back then the story was the players, the game, and the event itself, not trying to cause problems because the competition solved the problems and it was settled on the court.
Thanks for the upload. People forget how much of an alpha Magic was. He’s in the center in this interview and that’s where he ALWAYS was. He won his 2nd MVP honors and would win his third the following year. As someone who lived through the era, I remember it was Magic being talked about as the GOAT - or at least closest since Wilt Chamberlain. Everyone forgot about him as Jordan dominated the next seasons following Magic’s last MVP in 1990
Aguirre is far more deserving of the Hall than Sampson, McGrady, JoJo White, Walton, Ming Yao, Bill Walton, John Havlicek, Chris Mullin, Mitch Richmond, so put him in the Hall and get it over with! Aguirre was a better person than many know, media does that.
I knew Magic and Zeke were great friends. But didnt know about Aguirre also. And Magic made a big deal about Bulls and Suns players eating in the same restaurant during the '93 Finals😂🤷🏾♂️ This was straight up fraternizing with the enemy also😂
We learned years later that their friendship wasn’t bigger than the world championship…Isiah is quoted saying “Magic was of the closest people to him, once the Pistons showed up in Finals in 1988 things changed”….however I do appreciate that in 2017 Isiah and Magic were able to reconcile their relationship
SHUSH !!! Don't say that too loud all of the old head NBA fans might hear you. Since you know they keep saying things were rougher and tougher back in the day and guys weren't friends with each other in any way.
@@Wyndamn To be fair, Magic Johnson had no qualms about clipping Isiah out of mid-air in Game 3 the season prior, which is probably sort of adjacent to the point that some old heads try to make. Which is, friendships often went out the window when it came to eliminating someone coming down the paint. The exchange in question: th-cam.com/video/GEOGkqoki9g/w-d-xo.html But of course, there’s always an extreme push-and-pull between some modern fans and some classic fans; the truth of it all is generally nestled in the middle somewhere.
@@Swove2204 I believe that video title is wrong as it’s game 4 when Magic elbows Isiah. There’s a build up when you watch the entire game where Magic is constantly getting hit including a hard foul by Dantley and Magic throws him to the ground.
@@eddieG667 You’re right. And you want to know something pretty stupid on my behalf? One of the comments on that Magic foul video is me commenting that it’s actually Game 4, not Game 3 🤣
As a lakers fan, I despise the bad boys but I think they were the deepest team of all time. I don’t follow the Jordan robots. 80s celts, lakers and pistons are better than the 90s bulls and the pistons were probably the best of the 3 80s beast teams
That was Magic when he said no matter what happens our friendship is bigger then the championship.

😂 Great Stuff Love that time period too!! I'd definitely watch more of this off court stuff if u have it?? Thanks Bad Boys for life!!

Magic should've kept his goatee. Ever since 89 when he cut it he never won again.

Magic had charity rings won by the league
@@andresdelportillo9917 🤣
@@andresdelportillo9917 Definitely! 1988 was literally gifted to the Lakers
I still have Magic in my goat conversation along with Jordan. Magic is my second favorite all time.
Good stuff! 💯👍🏽

Havlicek and Mcgrady easily over the rest. You have an argument with the rest , though.
Agreed
The ultimate

Brent Musburger, before he joined ESPN and ABC Sports in 1990.
See? they were buddy buddies

Do you have the halftime show from Game 2?
Why, who was performing.?
Not at this point, but I’ll keep an eye out.
Old heads would tell u guys weren’t buddy buddy back then.

@@Wyndamn NO, everyone knew they had all been friends since the 70s.

They were buddies, however, Magic and Isiah made it known that once they hit the court, that friendship is on hold, example game 4 1988.
Right
the pIstons were LUCKY that Magic and Scott basically didn't play.
They would still loss Joe Dumars would of cooked Byron
If LeBron did this with Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, they would call for his head.

Magic thought Isiah was his friend Zeek was a backstabber who spread nasty rumors about Magic it was Magic who kept him off Dream Team
