Carl and Pearl Butler Just Thought I’d Let You Know Lyrics
Forgive me friend for buttin' in
But I'd like a word with you
Each night you're standing at this bar
The way I use to do
I've got a bit of free advise
    For you before I go
You're on your way to losing her
Just thought I'd let you know
We've got one thing in common
    You might not know about
But you're the guy who shares a love
    I have to live without
That girl who waits for you to call
    You should have hours ago
That same girl use to wait for me
Just thought I'd let you know
You drink and dance with other girls
    While she waits every night
You say you're doing nothing wrong
But you know it just ain't right
I did just like you're doing now
I know I hurt her so
And that's why she walked out on me
Just thought I'd let you know
Just thought I ought to tell you
It's the least that I can do
Don't want to see her hurt again
For I still love her true
If you're to proud to listen
Then when she lets you go
I'll be around to take her back
Just thought I'd let you know

Carl and Pearl deserve to be in the CMHOF. More talented than some who are in there.

Carl was my Native American friend. Dolly used to live with them some, when they appeared on Cas Walker Show in Knoxville. He owned a ranch in Franklin, Tennessee, and passed away in 1992.

Music that I grew up on early 60s era. The local radio early morning show always played these type of songs. It was worth the early 5:00 am rise to do chores. Sure miss these shows. How good were Carl and Pearl. One of the best.

I love Lefty, Buck, George and Hank, but this is my all-time favorite country performance. I have to revisit often. It's dynamite. Perfect! Thank you so much!

Been getting into them last few days (big classic country fan here)..and I can tell his voice was super loud, now I notice there is no mic..heck they probably needed ear muffs in the front row and that's without a p.a. system. He looks part native American, what a war cry:)

I've been around Nashville for over 25 years, and never once heard anyone mention his name, let along sing his songs.

When it comes to Nashville, true country music fans call it Trashville. Real country music comes out of Texas now a days.

I wonder who's playing steel. I haven't thought about Carl Butler for years. What's wrong with me?

This is the recording I'm most familiar with from these artists. It's a catchy melody and it's well sung, but each time I view this post, I'm struck how Pearl simply doesn't look very happy in this video. It seems to me Carl has struck a sense of fear in her. Perhaps it's just my imagination, but I can't get that thought out of my head when I watch her body language. Nonetheless, they do a good job on this rendition.
