This is one of the worst compilations I have ever seen in my life. This doesn't do justice to Alka's career whatsoever. Alka won two National Awards which both didn't make the cut. On top of that Alka was mostly known from 1989 till 2006. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna was probably the last big album she did because at the time music started to change to a more uptempo sound with all the item songs getting preferential treatment while Alka was more known for the romantic songs. After 2006 she only did Agar Tum Saath Ho which was seen as a comeback track of sorts.
Who ever is helping you to choose songs, sadly does not understand the intricacies of Indian music. You mainly choose pathetic songs as examples (sorry). Please don’t be proud that mainly men watch your show. Both men and women have good knowledge of music but your audience is mainly tiny Boppers who have little or no knowledge of music. Item numbers mainly( not all) are cheap and pathetic. I am not being rude but just helping you to understand a great musical tradition.

Whoever had compiled the songs of Alka Yagnik doesn't give full justice to her career, her achievements and her melodic heart touching romantic voice. Hope some make 100 top songs on Alka Yagnik so these two people can react to her voice well and doesn't confuse with lata and asha as Alka ma'am has one of the greatest sweet voice in indian cinema.

She is the most filmfare award (7 times) winning singer with 36 nomination. She sung more than 20,000 songs in her career. She sung also in my Bangladeshi film industry.

We don't need to know what they sung in their hometown at a local event, because this is a HINDI compilation. And all the songs are similar to each other, pretty shitty imo, but each to their own taste in music.
I like RD Burman, you may like Nadeem-Shravan (worst music directors though imo)

I am fan of Runa Laila, Noor Jahan, Asha Bhosle, Sabina Yasmin, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, K.S Chitra, Samina Chowdhury, Kanak Chapa, Shahnaz Rahmatullah, Andrew Kishore, Mohammad Rafi, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Mehedi Hasan, Ghulam Ali khan, Manna Dey, Kishore Kumar, Kumar Shanu, Aarati Mukherjee, Shandhaya Mukherjee, Firoza Begum and fan of all good songs.
And Obviously I am a fan of Nadeem-Sharavan's many songs.

Even today 99% of songs played by All india Radio are of Alka yagnik and Lata mangeshkar...
Most of her great songs are missing.

What I like about her is that most of the old age singers become bitter towards new gen singers and are always criticising them. I have never seen her do that (atleast as far as i know).
You guys should react to at least one live performance of hers. There's a wonderful rendition she does of "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" live. It actually sounds better than her recorded version. If you just search ' Alka yagnik Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna live ' you will find it. It's got lots of views

Actually, the Item song written by Amitabh Bhattacharya always has amazing lyrics and there is just amazing beauty in the presentation of situation of seduction or sensuation like Kamali or Chikni Chameli

i think i read it somewhere that....that scene of ranbir and deepika in tum sath ho was created by themselves there were no instructions from director and director left them to choose or do what they wanted to show...also deepika and ranvir had a relationship , and had broke up... that breakup was a reallly bad for deepika ,it hit her really badly leaving her depressed...
so the acting that came out during this scene was way more natural or may be it was her actual emotions she portrayed what she felt when she actually broke up with ranveer

You should definitely take the time to watch KANK. Kabhi Alvida Naa Kahena. It's not your typical Bollywood movie but its a genuinely well acted, written and directed movie that at times just didn't sit well with the audience it was catering to. Especially the older crowd.

I think the reason behind her being so much streamed is because she is a female artist so she is involved in duets many times. For eg: Udit Narayan (10.8 billion), Arijit Singh (10.7 billion), and Kumar Sanu (9.09 billion) are also there in top 5 of YT streams. Now she has songs with all three of them and Udit & Alka and Sanu & Alka were predominant pairing in 90s and 2000s. So that is the reason she has around 15B YT streams😮

Bro what u r talking about is today's situation... In her era females were also dominant in song.. Like they would sing half the song and male would sing rest half.. And even though kings were 2 but the queen was 1..today female portions In songs are barely listened and only arijit ji is singing every song literally...

Rest songs are sung by other singers . For example, gadar 2, animal, love aaj kal movies. Even though king is 1 (Arijit Singh) but queen is also 1 (Shreya Ghoshal) . But it doesn't mean that other singers are not singing songs.
In 90's, Kumar Sanu was literally singing every song.

It baffles me people confuse her voice with Lata Mangeshkars. Its true that almost every big female playback singer after lata mangeshkar tried to sound like her in one way or other (except sunidhi) but still... the only voice that sounded like lata mangeshkar was either Suman Kalyanpur or at times her own sister Usha Mangeshkar.

Item girls were usually hot girls who could dance well, primarily to attract male audiences in cinemas (like college students). Today, you can argue that it was an objectification of women, an item to lust after; hence, many find it derogatory. But the ones doing the item song usually benefitted and earned pretty well for their appearance.
Earlier actresses did not like to be part of item songs, but later actresses had no such qualms.
One of the most famous item girls in Bollywood, if not the most notable, was Helen. Her career was built on her item songs.
Lata Mangeshkar rarely sang item songs, whereas her sister Asha made a career out of item songs.

Item song is like a package with catchy music ,thrilling dance and an attractive lead. It is mostly there for dance nowadays additionally yesteryear's actresses like madhuri dixit , rekha etc were famous for their dance numbers but there was a slight change in them because those song depended upon the mood of the movie however the item numbers are irrespective of the mood so they fit almost everywhere.
Btw Tamasha is a good movie, I think you guys will loveee it.

That was not a good video to react to.Most of her iconic hits from the 90s like Ghoongat ki aad, Kuch kuch hota hai title track, Ae mere humsafar, mujhse mohabbat ka izhaar, banke tera jogi, sona nahi na sahi, akele hai to kya gum hai etc are missing there - either they were not present originally or were edited out due to copyright or brevity concerns. in fact majority of the songs in the latter half are quite obscure and unheard of!
Honestly this list doesn't do justice to what has given to the music industry.. A good reaction though..
She was "the" Voice of 90's and watly 2000’s..she was the mainstream female voice no matter who the male voice was in majority of songs.. This was the time when lata mangeshkar started slowly taking backseat due to her age nad started doing less songs and alka yagnik took over completely..
She ruled 90's .. In 2000's new voices like sunidhi and shreya started to shine but in early years alka gave many hits..
In this list I don't know any of the songs after 2005 or 2006 except agar tum saath ho (it tells that how amazing she still is)

Item songs are basically sensual song which most of the time have nothing to do with the story it's just for entertainment and lifting the mood up so they are always commercial, because these songs are sexy element that's why always featured on hot man and woman.
