This week I’ll show you how to create a radiant and youthful looking skin with makeup and I review new skincare from Biossance.
Prep is key. Start with skincare as this makes all the difference to your makeup base. Using soft lines, correct placement and the right textured products can help you achieve a more radiant and plumped look to your skin.

That’s such a pretty look, Caroline! Some great tips as well, such as the eyeliner in the cupid’s bow. Definitely going to try this! BTW I have really been enjoying the Illamasqua palette from your edit and did think the Bare Minerals one looked a bit similar at first glance. Although the Illamasqua palette is very pigmented, it is also possible to get a light wash of colour by using a fluffy loose brush. It’s also lovely over a liquid or cream shimmer base. That’s such a fresh, spring look, love it, your cheeks look lovely. I find that sometimes trying to look “radiant” is a very fine line between looking glowy or that I’ve face planted in a vat of Mazola 🙄. I’ve had oily/combo skin all my life but now find in my mid 60’s, that it’s so much drier and needs more moisture and that can be another can of worms finding something that does the job nicely and doesn’t make me look like I’ve just run the London marathon and then showered in melted butter (that’s never going to happen 😂😂). For the Jones road balm you have to “break” the surface by shoving your finger quite hard into it, use the product that is further into the pot

I’ve been delighted with my recent purchase of Biossance Squalene and Omega cream. I’m 67, dryer and sensitive skin and this has given me such a boost. I use am and pm and it works brilliantly for me under a light application of make-up, after 12 hours or so my skin is still plumped and fine lines still definitely minimised. Squalene works for me, I was previously quite dispirited with how my skin looked after a few hours! I’ll definitely put the Biossance serum and Oil at the top of my list now, I’m grateful for your recommendation! May I ask which shade of Hourglass Ambient Finishing Powder you used? I’ve got a couple of their palettes but find the shades a bit confusing! And Max Factor Pink Brandy lipstick has been one of my best buys too, such a lift, thank you again, Caroline.

Love these tips, especially the ones for making the eyes look more rounded. I just purchased the biossance plumping serum yesterday in the Sephora sale, after having a sample and loving the results. I also repurchased the biossance lactic acid night serum. It literally changed the texture of my skin in 2 weeks. I’m 58 and have dry, sensitive skin. I cannot use retinols, retinoids. The biossance lactic acid does not irritate my skin and gives lovely results. Best wishes from the US💄

Hi Caroline this is my type of soft daytime makeup look. Throughout my teens and twenties I was a big fan of the smokey eye and only toned down a bit during the day lol, but at 50 softer/prettier makeup looks better on me tbh. I'm ultra pale/cool toned and the Spring shades do look fresh/pretty on me. Don't get me wrong I still love a smokey eye and for a night out it's still my go to, but during the day lighter shades are more flattering on my skintone. I have super dry skin with both rosacea and eczema, so I like a slightly glowing base on my skin, but I do use a little powder in the t zone to mask pores etc. This is one of my favourite looks you've done.
I use oil in my hair all the time, but I have course/curly long hair with some blonde highlights (to blend in the natural white threads) in my naturally mid blonde hair - skipped grey straight to white threads. Squalane is a really good multipurpose oil and not too heavy for the hair. Best wishes.

I've seen a couple of things about the JR balm saying you need to crack the top layer and use the product underneath which might help? I guess it's how the ingredients settle?

I have been using moisture surge by Clinique for approximately 22 years in a similar way that you have used the biossance and I love it. Dry skin especially, but all skin looks better with hydration.
I’ve been quite into coral, spring/summer colours recently but a bit unsure hot to incorporate it for dark hair and light-medium skin tone. This has definitely given me some inspiration. Thanks Caroline.x

Just recently tried the miracle balm and like it. It didn’t look like you broke the seal as the say. You have to get the color from under the seal. I bought the Bronze and Flushed miracle balm and like it a lot. The Flush is a pretty pink blush color and the bronze warms my face. I just use a very small amount of the Bronze color and rub it on the palms of my hands and pat it over my foundation. I’ve also used it as a primer. I heard their mascara is amazing and I want to try their shadows.

Do you feel much difference between Squalane from olive oil vs sugar cane?
I'm going to buy the IT cosmetics CC cream...and add powder for a sheen finish. I love the soft look.

Just the look I need right now🥰I just started using the Biossance line and really like everything. My skin is very dry so I thought I’d love the Jones Road balm but didn’t enjoy the feel-stays tacky. Love her mascara tho and have to try the blush color now that I’ve seen it in action. ✨
Oooh I would like to try the mascara too, how would you describe it?
@@SpeedBeautybyCarolineBarnes It has a big curved brush so I have to navigate that but it really coats the lashes, no fallout, lasts all day, and best part is it washes off easily.
Good morning from New Jersey. Thanks for your makeup tips today. I recently bought the new Laura Mercier Light Revealer Tinted Moisturizer. I’m somewhat on the fence as I was finding it not as hydrating as the regular tinted moisturizer. I definitely need to add more hydrating products. I love your soft eye look as well. Such a nice “Springtime” look.
As a follow-up, I went to my local Ulta and purchased their plant-based Squalane and started using it. It has made a big difference in my skin and how the LM tinted moisturizer is working. I am still a bit on the fence and may go back to the original one, but we shall see how it works thru the summer months.
I love this beautiful youthful look, particularly your eyeshadow. Would you say the shimmers in the Bareminerals palette are a glowing sheen or a sparkly shimmer? I’m looking for a subtle soft sheen affect and wondering if this palette would be right for me 😊

The eye brightener that lasts longest in the lower lid in my experience is the one from Chantecaille. I can still see it hours later.

Great look as ever! I have a question…I’m 52 and while my top lip has an ok lip line, the bottom lip seems to have merged with my chin and no matter where I try to draw a ‘lip line’ (even with a nudish lip pencil) it never looks like me. Any advice would be gratefully received!
Looks great. But still can’t wrap my arms around all the work to glow the skin as a vase then matte it down then re highlight again!! Seems like a lot to get to the start !! But great in you!
I think with Jones Road Miracle Balm, you have to 'break the seal', mix the product, otherwise you end up with just the surface oil.
You have to break the seal on the miracle balm. This will bring out the colour and then buff away. You are not getting the most out of the product. I have hit base on my miracle balm
