Your friend is indeed fortunate to have you around! You’re clearly an experienced and talented board component level expert repair technician/engineer who can identify problems quickly and can make competent repairs. Also, I find the hardware/tool links that you have provided quite helpful. Thanks! 👏
I realize this is a Boar failure, however these collars are known for that coax to break down at the radius where it slips under the keeper rubber part. I have done 3 with this failure. Small neck dogs are the worse. Garmin made changes to the rubber keeper which has improved the failure rate a lot. BTW garmin went up a lot last year on the exchange program so you like me mite see more of these in the future. And your rite it is epoxy and I've had no luck digging it out. Great video, camera angle is great. Thumbing Up. 👍
I was just sharing a look at that side of the board with shield removed. Just in case anyone wanted to pause and look at it. We spent most of our time on the under side of the board. Nothing specific, great question. Thanks for your comment!
I do know they have the spot close to the antenna pads where a coax jack could be soldered on, but I have not done that myself to know if it would work with the housing.
I have a link in the video description for the GPS module and also for the cable only if needed. I also have tools that help a lot with the process in the description. Best of luck to you!
60W Iron usually on SMD. 150W on the large ground plane connections such as antennae connections. I use RA rosin flux to help with the solder joint, it helps transfer heat and keep the joint clean. amzn.to/3BYkwHf
Mais ótimo vídeo, parabéns... Estou com uma T5 que perde o sinal com 60 a 70 metros. Troquei a antena mas não resolveu, e ela também não aceita comunicação. Você já viu alguma coleira t5 com esse problema?
Thanks for your comment! Sorry, I have not seen that issue myself. Only the GPS antenna damage. The RF antenna like you replaced is all I would know to try on that one...
Hi, I have been soldering for many years as a hobby. I have learned much more about soldering in the last year or so and attempting smaller and even some micro soldering (with hot air etc.) after watching a TH-cam channel called Northridge Fix. Alex is excellent at micro soldering and is very helpful to watch and learn from. Thanks for your comment!
I wish I had time, I do get asked this often. I do not have a repair service at this time. I work full time+ in a Industrial job and try to have time to edit videos to post. I try to help by posting what I have learned and sharing that best I can. Best of luck to you with yours!

I need to buy parts for the tt15 collar, can you recommend a store? I want parts for Brazil
Not sure about Brazil in particular. My buddy always buys his from eBay.
Can these be converted to the new replaceable GPS antenna on that are on the TT20 and TT25?

Hello, where do you find the silicone for sealing please ?

What kind soldering tools do you have and what is that stuff you put on the solder?

How did you learn to solder like that

Went to change my collars out and the plastic housing crumbled right in my hand.
Wow! That is no fun.
Do you do these repairs for the general public?

This is over my head. Has anybody tried cutting the cable and spliced on the new antenna?
Just remember it is a coax cable...

In Italia non c'è nessuno che ripara si guastano dopo 6mesi come posso fare perché non si guastano non c'è una gomma da applicare
