      One short question Sir. Would you consider the adjustable air intake the primary? The secondary is set and more or less is an afterburner within this system. What is considered the tertiary? Thanks for the high quality build tutorial🙏🏼
      I subbed here thanks again 🐙

    • @LucasSteyn
      @LucasSteyn  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Primary is heated and fed behind the fire, secondary id superheated and induced on top of the fire, tertiary is superheated air induced to exhaust. Result is clean exhaust, just a slight bend of light😀

      @@LucasSteyn very good and thanks for the feedback. I am currently modeling in 3D on my CAD to play with your design and seeing it in a different way. I have stop/started your toob so many times, I have worn out the tape!!! Now that you mentioned the inputs, I am clearer. I will check your new site as well, I believe in batteries more than ever, now that I have a 80volt chainsaw.. it works very well
      Best regards 🐙✌🏼

    can you offset the burn chamber to the riser pipe to promote clockwise swirl in the exhaust pipe and keep the hot gasses against the riser wall?
    might make it worth the effort....

    • @LucasSteyn
      @LucasSteyn  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats what the center pipe is for. To create vortex wit superheated air. The holes in that pipe is angled and bent to scoop fte flow from inside to outside of that pipe

    I want to build one that is larger. I would like to have one where the feed tube is 32" tall and 12''x12'' wide. Big enough that you can put in 4 pieces of firewood that are split in half lengthwise, or 2 whole pieces and be gravity fed. The bottom burn chamber would be 12''x12'' x 36'' long. I would like the feed tube to allow regular sized firewood. I see all of these rocket stoves that are 4''x4'' and people feeding them with kindling. Let's go bigger!

    You could throw a cook pot on there and use it to boil water, then dump it in the pool or whatever while you're filling it up with cold water, mix it around, scoop out another pot full to boil and repeat as needed, the just use the coals to keep the hot water cirulating, leaning over to add fore fuel as needed (may want to make a schute extension)...

    • @LucasSteyn
      @LucasSteyn  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did see that one before i built mine, on their design the whole inner chimney will be condensed, this makes that the small droplets isolate for heat exchange and not transfer so much usable heat from the chimney flame. Only the top plate, thats a very good idea.
      But if you have a heat transfer fluid and an isolated coil or chamber running through it makes that the temp difference is much less and results in no condensation on chimney wall, and a better flow of heated water since its more efficient.

    What is your flow rate and temperature differential, in/out? I made a few different types of wood fired pool heaters. My problem with rocket stove type was, That it had to be constantly tended and fed fuel. Where other style could be left be and just refilled with wood every few hours. I normally let them run for a day or two to heat up a 21'r x 54"h pool. How did this work for you?

    • @LucasSteyn
      @LucasSteyn  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Baron Ratfish When i heated my childrens pool Ø3m x .5m the temperature rise by 4° an hour starting at 4° tap water. At fully open, in goes 4° from tap out goes 24°. When the pool is filled to the desired level its about 16° in the pool water. I then recirculate the pool water with the pool filter pump and temperature rise 4° an hour and getting rising slower the hotter it gets. its a plastic pool and outside air temp was 5° at the test. Alot of heat loss in other words. I fuel my fire at max all the time.
