This is what we want to see: normal people with problems solving them. Channels of perfect knifemaking are cool, but yours is cooler because you share your problems with us. Thanks mate!
Love your tutorials. This is the way most of us work, without benefit of 50 thousand dollars worth of equipment as alot of these youtube tutors own. Keep up the good work
Wow, I watched this video 2 years ago. Where does the time go. Dude you had it from the beginning. I love watching your older videos. Especially if I need to learn something and get a good laugh at the same time. Right on!!!!
Hey yall, i just wanted to point out that those "kydex bits" are actually just regular old spur bits that have been marked up in price. You can pick them up from anywhere that sells regular ol' drill bits. The brad point in the middle allows younto ensure that the middle of your hole is as precisely placed as possible, it keeps the bit from moving from where you want it at all whatsoever when you're starting your hole, and the other 2 points actually cut the material so you get a really nice clean hole. They're actually my go-to bits for 99% of my hole drilling needs because they work fantastic in any kind of MDF, both ply and solid wood, drywall, kydex, etc...pretty much anything thats softer than masonry or hardened steel. I've never tried with thicker aluminum, but honestly i think it might work as long as it wasn't a real small bit (obviously it might not be great for the bit, but I wouldn't be surprised 9f it could pull it off) but it works just fine going through aluminum flashing and whatnot
I’ve started making knives awhile ago I’ve made about 8 now on about my forth one I stumbled on your channel and I can’t thank you enough for all the information and knowledge you have shared it has made me a much better knife maker you have a subscriber for life with me thanks again
Thank you for all your videos man. They’re for the average Joe and I appreciate that. I’ve made 5 or 6 knives for the first time this year because I watched your Making A Knife With Just An Angle Grinder Video. Appreciate all you do.
Great video. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to teach a useful, money saving instructional video. Having a sheath made is really expensive.
Thanks for sharing the know how, a Simple and efective way to make a sheath. Maybe to avoid a second heating to ajust the Blade to the sheath, two layers of tape , on each side of the Blade, Will do the job.
Unfortunately I'm on lockdown right now because I'm sick with this whole covid 19 thing going around but I must say I am thoroughly enjoying watching your videos they're keeping me sane while I'm locked in our spare bedroom trying not to get anyone else sick hopefully once I'm better I'm going to buy some tools and make my 1st hand made knife, thanx for the great videos.
For anyone that doesn't already know the drill bit he's talking about in this video is a Bradpoint Drill Bit. Hopefully this helps someone who may be looking for one at a local hardware store. Great video as well!
I made a press out of a Milwaukee orbital sander case that I had no use for since I no longer have the sander... cut out the plastic impressions, plywood on bottom for rigidity, then layers of anti-fatigue floor mat. Seems to work pretty well so far.
Sir, an EXCELLENT video and a great job in constructing the Kydex Sheath for your knife. Thank you Sir, for your sharing of your hard work with us. Oscar
Great video. I've never dabbled with Kydex but am tempted to give it a try since I'm kinda meh on the bulky nylon sheath that came with my Hogue EX-F01.
Little tip about the drill bit if you use a regular bit heat the tip of it before drilling the holes it helps keep it from jumping around and it helps with a cleaner hole .. by the way love this channel good stuff
Great video…suggestion for the kydex sheath. At the top of the sheath (the spine side) mold a slight outward curl. That slight curl gives you a thumb purchase making it easier to pull the knife out with just one hand. Bradford Knives do their kydex sheaths this way. I carry horizontal and can use just one hand to pull the knife without tugging my pants around my waist! LOL
Awesome work, I'm sure ill try this out one day. odd that you call it a kydex drill bit, in Australia we call those brad points, and there used everywhere for timber.
Congrats on the upgrade. Hope this year continues well for your business! Side note- I am sure you talked to wiser folks than me, just make sure the contract keeps the landlord from changing the lock on your building in the middle of the night, if they suddenly have a change of direction for the work space.
Good advice! No danger of that happening here though. Hope this year goes well for you as well. 2019 is the year! I tell myself that every year 😂 Thanks man!👍👊
Shoot i never knew u could kydex at home im subscribing pronto i have lots of knives i always wanted to get a srath for but didnt realize could be done this way
Very nice and easy, thank you for all the tips, I only have a question, the oven that I have I use to heat food, do you know if there is any danger of using it to soften the kaydex too?
This was really cool Alex! I know you have to put a disclaimer up there about not being a pro, but you are the man! Corrupted card, ugh! You do such a great job with your editing dude, keep it up!
Man I watched one of your videos a good while ago & forgot about ya, just hit that sub button bc 1. This is just what I needed to see for my small knife that just came and 2. You are easy to watch & obviously love what you do Thanks brother
Beautiful Tutorial Thank You! LMAO that drill bit is also known as "BRAD POINT DRILL BIT", available at virtually any hardware/Lowes/Home Depot. CheersAll!!
those drill bits look surprisingly familiar to the brad point drill bits that are used in fine wood working. The sheathe is awesome. Would you prefer leather sheathes or kydex sheathes?
Nicely done. At the end when you mentioned not needing a lot of tools, I realized you did not use a press, a riveter press or most of the other tools and machines most often used to make kydex holsters or sheaths.
Thanks for this vid. I haven't used Kydex yet, but my 1st sheet is on it's way. Only have one knife that I would like to re-sheath, I'll find something to do with the rest. This was as informative as I need to tackle a project. Toying with the idea of making a tube that fits in the end of a Fiskars hatchet to carry small items....
very good video, thanks for your contribution, a question, what is the name of the screw you use in this video? . Thank you very much and a hug from Mendoza Argentina
Here in France those drill bits are sold as wood bits. Might be woth comparing prices to so called kydex bits. Just an idea. good health and stay safe.
Im sue theres some small design future that makes them unique to index. What is it, I have no idea. Any drill bit will work. Having the point helps accuracy .
Too bad about that lost footage.. One video before my last, I thought I was recording a clip, and later while editing i found out I just took a funny photo.. Love your videos man!
Do you have a recommendation for camo and assorted colors kydex distributors. Love your channel. You make me laugh alot. We are kindred spirits. Always keep your sense of humor!!
Went ahead and did my first attempt at a sheath and it went pretty good. I did have some of the foam melt to the kydex, have you had this issue? Next time I'll probably put some leather in between which should stop that.
If I don’t want to make a belt loop and want to install a quick clip that just clips on to my side how would I go about that? Would I still need make a tail for the sheath?
This is what we want to see: normal people with problems solving them. Channels of perfect knifemaking are cool, but yours is cooler because you share your problems with us. Thanks mate!
Francisco Apellido As a normal person, I can assure you no one wants to see me solve my wife.

Most underrated knife channel.
Thanks 👍🙂
OUTDOORS55 is there anyway to donate $$?
I don’t have patrion or anything. I really appreciate the thought though!!😀
@King Smith 110% agreed.
King Smith - ABSOLUTELY!!!
I love the fact that this tutorial doesn't require a lot of expensive tools. Great job, man, you've been a great help.
this is the best "knife channel" ever
Another 2 years have passed and I still love watching this video. 👍👍👍👍
Thanku for all the tips, i wanted to try my luck at a knife kydex holster for my wife. Tnx for your help.

So Good!!!! funny, really easy to understand, no overly tecchy stuff.......Thanks from UK
Thank you for all your videos man. They’re for the average Joe and I appreciate that. I’ve made 5 or 6 knives for the first time this year because I watched your Making A Knife With Just An Angle Grinder Video. Appreciate all you do.
Good man! At last, a channel that shows you done have to break the bank to enter the world of Kydex. Many thanks!
Woah!!! O have a really nice folded steel kitchen pairing knife that I can use as a fishing belt knife now. Madd appreciated!!!
Looks great 👍🏼 thanks for sharing this informative video.
Cheers from Down Under…
I love the Minimalist and Clean design!
I Just know It’s gonna take me a lot of kydex to get it right....
Love the work!
honestly you deserve a like and comment because i get how you feel when your card corrupted
Great video. Thanks for taking the time and making the effort to teach a useful, money saving instructional video. Having a sheath made is really expensive.

Good video! I will make one for my copy of a William Price knife. On the inside I will put a compartment for my derringer!
that knife is amazingly pretty.
I ADORE that little knife you made!!!
Thanks!
Great video! I primarily watch for sharpening tips but didn't know you also make knives.
Yeah, I have a lot of knife making videos as well. Thanks for watching! I will have some more sharpening stuff coming out soon🙂
I think the old school brass pin and hammer till it looks good and holds tight method would look good here.
UNCLEDOUG SAYS IT LOOKS GOOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU DO WELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks great vid great job like always 1 thing put tooth pick in bottom when molding for drain
For anyone that doesn't already know the drill bit he's talking about in this video is a Bradpoint Drill Bit. Hopefully this helps someone who may be looking for one at a local hardware store. Great video as well!
Thank you for the links. I ordered a starter kit and 0.080 kydex and got it at my house today.
You make some amazing stuff! Sharing your trial and error is great, alot of people wouldn't do that.
Alex thanks for doing what you do and keep up the good work. Not only is it inspiring, but I learn a lot from you bro.
I made a press out of a Milwaukee orbital sander case that I had no use for since I no longer have the sander... cut out the plastic impressions, plywood on bottom for rigidity, then layers of anti-fatigue floor mat. Seems to work pretty well so far.
Great job! I have a few knives to attempt this.
Thanks!

I been making knife sheaths for years, from Vinyl Siding Scraps. (Also make good "Lite-Duty" Gun Holsters, too!).
This is what i like too see, something that a regular ol’ joe like me can do not a huge list of specialized tools, that i have to buy
This is under rated
Amazing videos Alex, now I wish I had a shed :-) Living in a block of flats makes things significantly more difficult lol

Great video - I didn't even know making these type of sheaths was possible at home. Thank You for making this video!!!
Your production value is so high, amazing work on your videos.
Thanks my friend 😀👍
Excellent information! I’m a knife maker and have used leather up to this point but want to start using kydex. Thank you!
finally the hillybilly version that i was looking for. i didnt wanna buy all the stupid presses
Awesome work, I'm sure ill try this out one day. odd that you call it a kydex drill bit, in Australia we call those brad points, and there used everywhere for timber.
Kydex makes their own drill bit. It’s similar but there are some differences that seem to allow a patent 🤷♂️ That’s what they say anyway🤔
Great video! Exactly what I needed!
Kydex now, great video. Has been anticipating this coming.
Sorry to learn about the lost video
The video is out there somewhere😂 Thanks for watching I really appreciate it👍
Thank you very much, your video is so easy to follow step by step...👍
Thanks my friend!👊
Also, great video!! it was exactly what i needed. Thanks a lot man!!! 👍
Great job and video despite all the technical difficulties Alex, much enjoyed and looked professional. TFS!
The struggle is real😂 Thanks Kevin 👍
Congrats on the upgrade. Hope this year continues well for your business!

I've seen a few videos and a good tip i seen is make a drain whole at the bottom of the sheath
Excellent tutorial! Thanks again
awesome. think I might try this, I want to put a horizontal carry loop on one. nice vid man
I appreciate the content!
You can also use just a regular brad point bit that you can get at any hardware store.
Great video never thought about a one piece by folding over, been doing 2 pieces for a year. Im an idiot.Lol
Thank you, finally a video about Kydex!
Great craftsmanship Alex!
Nice job. I learned something 👍🏻
Shoot i never knew u could kydex at home im subscribing pronto i have lots of knives i always wanted to get a srath for but didnt realize could be done this way
I’m not super good at it, but for sure it can be done at home🙂👍 Thanks for the sub!
Very nice and easy, thank you for all the tips, I only have a question, the oven that I have I use to heat food, do you know if there is any danger of using it to soften the kaydex too?
Very nice. Very professional
Thanks! And thanks for taking the time to watch!
Owesome video! Thanks!
This was really cool Alex! I know you have to put a disclaimer up there about not being a pro, but you are the man! Corrupted card, ugh! You do such a great job with your editing dude, keep it up!
Thanks Jason!

Great looking sheath!
Thanks! And thanks for watching 👍
Noce job!😁 Fajnie ogląda się Twoje filmy. Robisz dobra robotę. Powodzenia
That Kydex drill bit is just a reverse flute spur bit.
Reverse flute bits are the ideal way to drill plastic.
Added to my to-do list. Your videos are so helpful 👍. Thank you.
Oh no, to do list!😱 oh, sorry got that confused with “honey do list”😂 Good luck! And thanks for watching 👍
Nicely done. At the end when you mentioned not needing a lot of tools, I realized you did not use a press, a riveter press or most of the other tools and machines most often used to make kydex holsters or sheaths.
Hi, your drill bit is a brad point drill bit.
Yes that’s another name. I believe kydex has a patent is this particular style...whatever that may be.
That's actually just a standard issue 1/4" brad point woodworking bit. Cheaper alternative to buying it from a knife making site.
Hi you are the best.very very good job.thank you
Knife 1000👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏
Thanks for this vid. I haven't used Kydex yet, but my 1st sheet is on it's way. Only have one knife that I would like to re-sheath, I'll find something to do with the rest. They are just brad point drill bits lot cheaper than so called special kydex drill bit any home center will have
Great channel!
Ya, that's nice!
Sandisk cards are highly recommended!!
Awesome video and thanks for the links really wanna try this out I like low hanging sheaths that don't jab me in ribs
Same here. Most sheaths ride too high and tight Imo. Good luck and thanks for watching 👍🙂
Looks really good. Well done. 👌
First! My life is complete!
Second!
Sixty first! I hope my life is not complete yet! LOL
Outstanding! You do such great work on all your videos and your knives are amazing. Keep up the great work!
Very nice job ! Survival Lilly made a hard sheath out of an old petrol jug and pop rivets . You should check it out !
Interesting 🤔 I’ll have to check it out thanks👍
Too bad about that lost footage..
One video before my last, I thought I was recording a clip, and later while editing i found out I just took a funny photo..
Love your videos man!
Haha, yeah it sucks when that happens. Ive gotten into the habit of obsessively checking camera settings😂 Thanks my friend!
Well done.
Perfect!!!!
Do you have a recommendation for camo and assorted colors kydex distributors. Love your channel. You make me laugh alot. We are kindred spirits. Always keep your sense of humor!!
Wow I made the exact same press down to the pads and door hinges, also didn't buy a single thing for it.
Nice👍 Let me know how it works out!
Went ahead and did my first attempt at a sheath and it went pretty good. I did have some of the foam melt to the kydex, have you had this issue? Next time I'll probably put some leather in between which should stop that.
Really neat I guess too much retention is due to material thickness a thinner material should have more flex
Retention can be adjusted. Doesn’t really have to do with material thickness.
Can you do a video about making a shieth without power tools ?
If I don’t want to make a belt loop and want to install a quick clip that just clips on to my side how would I go about that? Would I still need make a tail for the sheath?
Awsome video I think you should try to do a knife from an old wrench
Great video,thanks !
