While most scientists had moved onto the theory of 'general relativity' to explain cosmic physics during hp lovecraft lifetime; Hp Lovecraft himself used the disproven theory that space was full of "biluminous æther". Under such a frame work; literal space flight was possible. This is why a number of Lovecraft's and friends' creations have wings and can travel though space. (For example, great cthulhu himself).
@matthewutech5970 my modern reinterpretation of this is that the wings of mythos entities can literally fold space to create gravitational waves and beat through the fabric of space itself. Either that or act as solar sails, depends on the creature really

Almost all the intelligent races/aliens created by Lovecraft are pretty idiotic when you think about it. For instance, the yith have got one the worst designs I've ever seen. And the old ones from the mountains of madness, have got radial symmetry but kind of bat wings 😂. Oh, and they are kind of cylinders with starfish-like tentacles on every end. Something like that (and I am ignoring the bat wings) couldn't even move, let alone develop any technology. It's a fkg sea cucumber.

Wenn ich mich richtig erinnere, dann wurde der Pluto erst sehr spät um 1920/1930 entdeckt und wie es dort tatsächlich aussieht war noch sehr spekulativ. Es ist also wie bei einer Venus, wo man sich zu Lovecrafts Zeiten noch leicht Dschungel und Aliens herbeifantasieren konnte.

In DUNE prequels by Brian Herbert, in Old Empire, preceeding Dune Human Imperium, preceeding even Thinking Machine, humans developed life extention technologies and ability to extract living human brain. Preserving it in a life capsule. These brains, called Cogitors , were fully concious. My theory is that ability of humans to do that came from Mi-Go.
