Lovely video, I got a similar day the first time I did it. Sgùrr a' Mhàim is the mountain you see in the distance in the village scenes in "Braveheart". The day I first did the "Ring" they were filming in Glen Nevis so I've always wondered if my wife and I were in the film!
Great effort Calum, we attempted this on Saturday morning, summited An Gearanach then decided to turn back as the weather was awful, strong gusts, rain and cloud 😂, whole point of doing the route was to view the ridge. Always Next time. Planning again for September hopefully! Thanks for the video 👍🏻
As you say, there is always next time! The views are pretty incredible, and you are right to save it for a good weather day. Atleast you got out and bagged a peak :)
Hi Calum, subscribed now. Is there a way we could get the course gps for what you did here. Inspiring. We will be climbing Ben Nevis and more next week. Deciding about « more » meaning 😅
Hiya Mate, thanks for watching :) I used the WalkHighlands route, you can find it here - www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/ringofsteall.shtml - I hope you enjoy yourself if you go for it. It really is a truly spectacular walk.
That's a fantastic video of what is an absolutely tremendous walk. Did it a few years ago - exactly the same route as you people, including the little detour scramble on The Devil's Ridge. You film has brought back so many memories and the weather we had was more or less what you experienced so fantastic scenery and views all day. I recall the first climb away from the valley didn't seem too hard at all when compared to some ascents - it may have been adrenaline causing that though. I do recall the descent from Sgurrr a' Mhaim at the end reducing my legs to jelly though! Great times! Thanks for your film - precious stuff, loved it! :-)
Magic. I've got across the wire bridge, through some boggy bits, up a bit by the falls, but not much further (being either 10 years old myself, or much later having my son and his friend - aged about 12 - in my care) (My son's friend was born and brought up in Califonia - Yosemite, Tuolumne, Redwoods - all those wonderful places. When I asked him what he thought of Glen Nevis, he said it was the most beautiful place he'd ever been.)
Great walk. All the Mamores are nice. These were our 2nd-5th Munro’s, We did this twice, clockwise in the snow and anti clockwise with other walkers also in snow the second way was a lot easier on the knees on the way down.
Hahaha. I did some amount of swearing coming down Beinn Mhanach the day. After a slipped for the 10th time "Ya fuckin dirty slippy bastard!". Around the corner...two families camping with little kids...No danger they didn't hear me. :D Subbed. Quality videos mate, keep it goin.
The Aonach Eagach is a great ridge walk. You'll enjoy it for sure. Just make sure the wind isn't too high. The Ring of Steall is a very enjoyable day out too... whichever you go for, you'll have a great time!
Looks like a great walk. I just visited the Steall Waterfall in rain and wind the day after climbing Ben Nevis. I didn't cross that wire bridge as my legs were still tired from the previous day. I did tr about the first 15 feet and found it very sketchy in the wet. It was harder going backwards to get off the bridge as well. Maybe in the dry with fresh legs I'd give it a go. Is there a gpx file available for this walk? Anyway, well done and great vid. Suscribed.
Great video!! How long did it take you? I'm considering doing this over climbing Ben Nevis (only have a shot at one big hike) because of the stunning views...
Hiya Pal, It took around 8 hours in total. We were being rather leisurely to be fair, so if you are a really fast walker you can definitely do it quicker. But it's so beautiful, you wouldn't want to rush. Have a great day whatever you decide to do :)
Great video! Weather is perfect for you. I’m hopefully doing this at the end of next week depending on the weather. Is the route quite straight forward to follow?
Couldn't have asked for better weather that day. The route is very straightforward, with a path all the way. The only tricky part was the river crossing, but if it's not in spate, you should be totally fine. Enjoy!
Had a brilliant day yesterday. Weather was fine, no wind or rain just a bit of overcast with mist on the hills. But once cleared up had stunning views of everything. Not gonna lie we found it hard. But glad to of got it done now. Thanks for the video and response.
Hi Susan, I don't own a GoPro. I use my tried and trusted iPhone XR with a Movo Microphone. That's it... super simple, but effectively and good quality.

Great footage. You had perfect weather for it.
Cheers very much. We really did luck out with the weather, it was perfect. Thanks for watching :)

I do love the Mamores. Good you on Darren for doing them twice! Thanks for watching :)
Brilliant. Nice day.
Thanks very much pal :)
Great Video, it inspired me to do the Tour a couple of days later! I choose so to sleep on the last hill before the devil's ridge. Thanks.
Thank you so much Bonnie, that really means a lot. I hope you had a wonderful time :)
Good stuff Calum. I'm hoping to tackle this one next year.
You'll love it Andy! It's a cracking day out :)

Cheers for watching Chris! That wire bridge is honestly the sketchiest part of the whole walk... good on you for giving it a go!
Great footage :)
Thank you very much pal :)
Hilarious, but also gives a really good sense of how tough (and beautiful) the hike is.
Thanks very much pal :)

great video, did you film using a GoPro?

Was the path easy to follow for a solo trekker?
Super easy Faber, you can't go wrong!
