    As an old Marine (I served 90-94) It always cheers me up when I see an Eagle, Globe and Anchor. There is nothing wrong with showing support for the Corps.

    Danner, the US made models, are the best off the shelf boots you can buy. My Rainforest boots lasted two years working trail crew at the Grand Canyon. Everybody, except the guy with $600 custom made Whites, had to replace theirs two to three times a year. Maybe the only proving ground for boots harder than USMC boot camp. We had the rocks, the sand, and the miles, with the added benefit of mule piss. I bought a pair of the RATS from Danner and expect to wear them for the next decade.

    Comprei um par de botas Danner exatamente desse modelo em 2012 nos EUA, mas na cor sage-green, uso-a no trabalho pesado na fazenda quase todos os dias e nos meus rides de moto big-trail pelos interiores selvagens e remotos do Brasil e não consigo destrui-las, nunca vi um par de botas mais robustas do que essa, acho que vai sobrar para os meus netos a tarefa de acabar de consumi-las.

    I've had the Danner Tanicus for over a year now, and I've beat them up pretty good between field exercises and hiking and what not. You did mention in this video that you doubted their durability, but how have they held up now that it is 2 years later?
    Also, do you have any experience with the Rivot? What is your favorite Danner boot so far?

    • @flyinfr33domfreedom2
      @flyinfr33domfreedom2  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can’t really comment on how these have held up because I haven’t worn them a ton. Interestingly enough that is because I’ve gotten some danner rivot boots which have easily become my favorite boot period. In my opinion the only con is they are expensive and non re-craftable. The upper is built to last so you can run them as long as the outsole is good but when the outsole is worn bare there done. I’ve been running a pair of rivot for about 1.75 years to work everyday.

      Thanks for sharing. It really is amazing how comfortable and durable the American made danner boots are!

  • @kolinmartz
    @kolinmartz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I never really understood “recraftable” modern tactical boots. Yeah it’s stitched down to a midsole and that can be replaced but the other soft rubber midsole and the harder rubber outsole are still gonna be glued to that and sometimes those two rubber pieces mig also be glued to each other. You still have 2 other failure points that makes the completely bypasses the layer that’s stitched down.

    • @musicplaylistize
      @musicplaylistize 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rythm of use of the midsole shouldn't be too drastic if you do recraft them before its too late. Well made shoes are generally able to take a few re-soles before these "points of failure" actually fail. Of course, in case of tactical boots maybe its true that the specifics involved in training and fighting are so intense that theres no point in recrafting them.

    • @musicplaylistize
      @musicplaylistize 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you wear them as a civilian or out of duty, it for sure makes sense

    • @McK9999
      @McK9999 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You aren't understanding what recraftable means.. a shoe repairman will take off the entire sole, cut the stitches out of the upper, and sew it all down again if necessary, not just the tread sole replacement. There are videos showing the process if you're so inclined. Cheers

      Here are the regulations directly copied form the air force. Look it up to verify
      (Change) 6.4.3. Footwear (males/females) Combat boots.
      (Change) 6.4.3.1. Sage Green Boots. Will be worn with the ABU. (Exception: Athletic shoes may be worn if medically necessary, as determined by competent medical authorities at a civilian or military treatment facility and approved by the commander). Boots will be sage green, lace up with plain rounded toe or rounded capped toe with or without a perforated seam. A zipper or elastic inserts may be worn; however, if worn, they will be without design. Green boots can be either with or without a safety toe. [Exception for black combat boot wear in industrial areas: ref para 6.4.3.3.]
      (Add) 6.4.3.2. Tan or Coyote Brown Boots. During initial transition Airmen may wear either Tan or Coyote Brown boots with the OCPs. On 1 June 2020, only Coyote Brown boots will be worn with the OCP. [Exception: Athletic shoes may be worn if medically necessary, as determined by competent medical authorities at a civilian or military treatment facility and approved by the commander]. Boots will be laced up with plain rounded toe or rounded capped toe with or without a perforated seam. A zipper or elastic inserts may be worn; however, if worn, they will be without design. Boots can be either with or without a safety toe. [Exception for black combat boot wear in industrial areas: ref para 6.4.3.3.]
      (Change) 6.4.3.3. Black Combat Boots wear is optional with the service dress and services uniforms when not wearing a skirt, maternity service dress and/or maternity jumper. Laces will either be tied and tucked in the boot or tied and wrapped around the boot. No ―bowtie boot laces. Logos will be the same color as the boot. Exception: Installation commanders can authorize the wear of black combat boots with the utility uniform on their installation where they deem necessary. This exception is not specifically restricted to flightline activities. It may be applied where industrial products or processes cause irreparable damage to the stain resistant sage green boots. Sage green uniform boots must be worn when departing the installation and other areas not designated for wear by the installation commander.

      With all the tecnical rules stated this is what im taking away from it. Keep in mind i am not in the air force. This is simply what I believe the bottomline to be. Do your own research to verify!
      They are in a transition period with boots/uniform (also know as opc or Operational Camouflage Pattern. The old is sage green boots moving to coyote colored boots which must be used by the mentioned date in year 2020. Up until that point coyote or sage green boots are permitted.
      With ny understanding i would recommend buying coyote boots ofcause because they will atleast theoretically last longer.
      These meb boots are listed and sold as color Mojave which atleast in theory automatically disqualifies them from conpliance. They also have the marine emblem which I personally think would cause compliance issues (in the listed regulation the only limit on emblems is the color however i just dont see your superior's being okay with an airman wearing marine marked boots)
      I hope this was helpful and fully answered your question. It took a bit of digging to find this for you. If you have any more questions (maybe on other reccomends) send them over and ill do my best. Thanks for watching!

    Since you have a lot of experience with Danner boots, I was wondering which you think are better designed and are more comfortable between the Desert TFX and Tanicus models.

    • @flyinfr33domfreedom2
      @flyinfr33domfreedom2  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The tfx are more comfortable. Better padding and a more complex lacing system reduces pressure at specific points.
      With that being said they are also slightly heavier and hotter. They 100% take more time to lace up.
      Tfx has vibrio outsole so it will probably hold up slightly better in that regard

I can feel it right when I'm put them on even before lacing them up, especially on the left ankle. It's odd. I haven't tested these in water yet. I did call danner for info on the leather care and the rep mentioned using a silicone based water proofing spray on it with that being said I dont think you would get wet with one step in a puddle if it doesn't go up to the nylon part but it probobly will get wet pretty quick standing in water for more than a second. Like I said I cant say for sure on that I haven't tested it yet. As far as sizing. The diffrence in width is slight. If you're comfortably wearing a wide on the tfx and not having any issues with it feeling to wide you will probobly be well suited with a wide on the M.E.B. boots as well. For me the normal width on the TFX G3 fits perfect 10/10 and the M.E.B. there is the slightest bit of play. I have tried wearing 2 pairs of socks on the M.E.B. and it helped in the heal and leg part but the toe area was too tight with 2 pairs of socks. I hope this was helpful.
