Agree this can make a good impact as opposed to most donations that has been done in tens. Hope they are delivered ASAP and not in drop feed like most other donations.
A few years ago, our government here in Australia started pouring huge amounts of money into modernising the army and wanted Australia to enter the top ten weapons producers. A lot of gov money was set aside to invest in firms producing weapons. It seems like a lot of that investment is starting to bear fruit and a lot of these weapons are being given to Ukraine to be a 'proving ground' of sorts (like Sypaq's cardboard drones).

I remember reading something about a Ukrainian soldier in Kursk offensive, mid August worrying that they didn’t have a Slinger nearby, but the context sounded like it was already something they were familiar with using. So it sounded like at least some units were already using them there but more were needed.

The USA sent some of these to Ukraine a while ago to test them. The Slinger was built by Australia in partnership with Northrop Grumman. Obviously the test went well because Ukraine had ordered more and the company that produces Slinger has said they plan to set up production in Ukraine.

The Gepard still has a place in countering larger drones such as the Shaheed. But the Slinger looks interesting as an economical counter to small reconnaissance and FPV drones.
It's the radar system that's important, detect and shoot. The Gepard has advanced radars, is highly effective against Shaheed drones and can also shoot down rockets like the BUK. The slinger system is not a game changer but very much needed, because Ukraine has not enough air defense coverage in general. First and foremost Ukraine needs Patriot (against long range high altitude ballistic missiles) and Iris-t (against midrange missikes), because these missiles are still hitting Ukraine hard. Shaheed drones don't get through much where airdefense is employed. The success rate is pretty high,where we (unfortunately)have to witness that Russian missiles (Iscander) hit their target by r/a 80%. So,the slinger system will be much appreciated but doesn't solve the problem Ukraine has with incoming rockets and ballistic missiles.

It should be a game changer , it would make Ukraine sky more safer , could provide vital protection for the others more expensive assets, such as Himar , Patriot....And could allow Ukraine move all those assets closer to Russia, to protect infantry and destroy more Russian targets.

Slinger transport and ammo is so much smaller than Gepard. If this works, will be game changer.
The Gepard still has a place in countering larger drones such as the Shaheed. But the Slinger looks interesting as an economical counter to small reconnaissance and FPV drones.
It's the radar system that's important, detect and shoot. The Gepard has advanced radars, is highly effective against Shaheed drones and can also shoot down rockets like the BUK. The slinger system is not a game changer but very much needed, because Ukraine has not enough air defense coverage in general. First and foremost Ukraine needs Patriot (against long range high altitude ballistic missiles) and Iris-t (against midrange missikes), because these missiles are still hitting Ukraine hard. Shaheed drones don't get through much where airdefense is employed. The success rate is pretty high,where we (unfortunately)have to witness that Russian missiles (Iscander) hit their target by r/a 80%. So,the slinger system will be much appreciated but doesn't solve the problem Ukraine has with incoming rockets and ballistic missiles.
