  • We travel to the famous fossil fern shales of East-Central Pennsylvania. The quantity and quality of this fossil deposit is truly legendary. Much of the organic material was replaced with pyrite, which later degraded to pyrophyllite, leaving the plant remains as a brilliant white against the dark gray shale. This is a world-class fossil site.
    NOTICE: The owners of this property (Reading Anthracite) have closed this area to collecting. They may allow educational groups, but these field trips must be setup ahead of time with the home office.
