Don’t sell yourself short, Cliff. Since I found you, I thought that you were a laid back, patient person. After this vid, I’d definitely say that ‘endless patience ‘ best describes you. TFS 🙏🏻

I am sure glad I got there before you! Way back in the 1970's when I was a kid growing up in Pine Grove. Watching you took me right back there even though I live in California!

I need to get there. I would love to find trilobites! There are other places in SP that have lots of fossils. I grew up there and we found lots of interesting fossils.

There's a mountain near where I grew up, Piked Peak. (Not Pikes Peak) and every single rock you pick up has 100 or more fossils in it, mostly invertebrate. You can keep everything. Very nice place to dig.

I'll have to explore there sometime WW. Looks like a fun place to search for fossils. And indeed, knee pads are a must there, which I've had for a long time from major metal detecting days. Also good for repairs on the floor or even gardening, especially when it wet. Thank Kindly! DaveyJO

The fossils are interesting. I'd also enjoy a semi-precious gemstone dig. Years ago in Southeast PA I found the most beautiful quartz crystal and iron pyrite or fools gold. The quartz crystal had a diamond-like inner surface that reflected light.

  • @toms641

Those fossils are everywhere in the northeast.
I used to live in northwest NJ. I found a dinosaur egg along my driveway.
Probably used to be in the Delaware River bed, then sold for "round river rock.
Perfectly egg shaped" (same as a chicken egg, but 5 X as large), and heavy as rock.
I keep it in my desk.

Hi, have you ever tried looking for fossils in coal or chalk ???. you can potentially find fossils in both of those mediums. A cool day, I used to love looking through our garden as a kid because we lived in a county called Buckinghamshire UK which is built on chalk. Thanks for sharing your day. x

The better fossil location in swatara gap existed where 72 cuts under 81 - just outside the park. Penndot unfortunately paved over it many years ago. In that location, there was a different era of fossils to be found- including trilobites - cryptolithus variety which are rare to PA. If you’re feeling brave (And are willing to take your life in your hands), pull over on 81 near the 72 underpass. Decent material can still be found. Yeah.. well, don’t actually do this.

Unearthing ANY artifacts such as rocks or bottles AND removing them from PA State parks and game lands is illegal. I'm a metal detector hobbyist, and have done the research.
If (as you say) "they" allow you to do this, "they" are mearly looking the other way while you break state law.
It is my experience that PA will selectively enforce their laws, depending on who you are, if they like the way you look, or who are or related to.
