I doubt the kids have as much fun with other governesses they had since their mother died. What does c major have to do with it? The Do-Re-Mi approach can apply to any key right? Do is always the first note of the key, Re is always second, mi, third, etc. It's about intervals, and you can hear that in the intervals itself. I think do-re-mi is actually used in fact precisely when you are changing keys. Like the interval between do and re is always two half steps, regardless of the key. The distance from ti back to do is always a half step (i.e., a sharp). The formula for sharps is already in the Do-Re-Mi intervals: Do to Re = whole step; Re to Mi = whole step; Mi to Fa = half step; Fa to Sol = whole step; Sol to La = whole step; -La to Ti = whole step; Ti to Do = half step.

What does c major have to do with it? The Do-Re-Mi approach can apply to any key right? Do is always the first note of the key, Re is always second, mi, third, etc. It's about intervals, and you can hear that in the intervals itself. I think do-re-mi is actually used in fact precisely when you are changing keys. Like the interval between do and re is always two half steps, regardless of the key. The distance from ti back to do is always a half step (i.e., a sharp).
The formula for sharps is already in the Do-Re-Mi intervals: Do to Re = whole step; Re to Mi = whole step; Mi to Fa = half step; Fa to Sol = whole step; Sol to La = whole step; -La to Ti = whole step; Ti to Do = half step.
