It looks like those are actually ferrules that have been crimped on the Monoprice Printer. Soldering would cause problems over time and i'm pretty sure they would have only crimped those wires heading into the euroblock/phoenix contact connector.

FYI - ya, the bearings are not the highest quality BUT - the actual problem is more with their alignment or misalignment on the rods. If you remove one of the two rails you will likely find that the bearing do in fact move smoothly and quietly. When you reassemble the bed/smooth rods be careful to not induce misalignment when tightening them down to the bed. Also, try rotating the rods 1/4 turn and see if they work better. I suspect most people think the bearing replacement solves this problem when it is actually not the bearing as much as the act of installing them so they do not bind with each other.

I just got the Monoprice version and also have poor y bearings. I have a set of Igus polymer bushings coming today to replace them. Hopefully that will take care of some of the y shuddering that happens durring high speed infill passes.

I replaced the stock bearings with high quality LM8LUU's (the 45mm long versions) and it's been smooth as butter since.

What bearings did you get if you don't mind me asking? Wanhao printers in general seem to have terrible stock bearings on the build plate, my Maker V2.1 did and my Maker Plus does as well. Was it a 1-1 swap?

I assume you're asking capecodsurfer about his choice with Igus polymer bushings; but, if you go with quality LM8LUU's, you can use the existing bearing mounts, slip out the stock bearings (with something as simple as a large screwdriver or a large t-handle hex key with very little force if you don't have a press available), slip in the new bearings and call it a day. The whole process takes about 15 minutes to disassemble, swap, and reassemble the bed.

Awesome, thanks! I was actually asking you, the new youtube comment layout is a bit unclear sometimes. Def gonna do this.

Note: The 45mm bearings are MUCH longer than the stock bearing mount; but, they will allow a straighter path than the short version. The back bearings need to be seated flush to the back of the bearing mount and the front bearings need to be seated to the front of the bearing mount - so the bearings extend towards the middle of the bed. If you try to center the bearings within the stock bearing mount, the new bearings will hit the back of the printer before the bearing mount hits the Y home sensor and lead to a bit of a scary moment from the grinding noise that ensues.

I've been having a maker select v2 that feels smooth, and just got the plus model i really wanted that touch screen. and it feels like a bearing snagging... i have been looking at you tube videos and pictures. i don't know if its a update or just brand difference the maker selects have 4 bearings on the bed. not 3 like all the i3's i have seen online

I haven't updated beyond 2.7.0 on Cura as it meets my needs; so, I can't help you with 3.2.1.

Lol use some acetone and WD40 on the bearings and you will be great! (I know too much about fidget spinners! 😋)

Bearings that are under load need to be properly greased. Stripping the grease from loaded bearings will result in premature wear and the need for early replacement.
