South American shows make European ones look boring. My only thing is sometimes the South American shows get downright scary. It feels like people are going to get crushed to death at any given minute.

I'm late to a reply, but I don't see Romanticide (Wacken 2013), Yours is an Empty Hope (Wembly), I Want my Tears Back (Buenos Aires 2019), The Islander (Tampere), High Hopes (amazing Pink Floyd tribute), Phantom of the Opera (End of an Era 2005, with Tarja, their first singer), and then Poet and the Pendulum (when you know the story of how Tarja left) - all live. There's so much more you could do. All amazing. Spellbindingly amazing. Probably the greatest live performing band I have ever seen, and Floor is the greatest female singer active right now. Marko obviously holds his own singing and they are all supremely talented. And the energy they bring. It's just too much - in a good way! I hope you react to some of these!
Just a note guys non of their songs are generic. However they have ‘radio friendly’ songs and have had a few actual single releases. Those by design have to be shorter and have a traditional structure to them.
Floor says herself that this is her technically most difficult song because she basically only sings in the highest notes from the second half onwards. If you watch "Poet and the Pendulum" you can either win everything or lose a lot. This song is absolutely essential for any Nightwish fan and it is by no means a fun event. The background is to be taken absolutely seriously. This song was the soul of Tuomas back then. He does what he would have done in life there on stage. He commits suicide. That said as a hint. This is an absolute masterpiece that he composed there. Maybe you should find out more about this beforehand. Of course, that doesn't mean that you can't have fun doing it. Be sure to also take the lyric video of the live performance. At one point in the song a boy said "3 minutes counting". After exactly 3 minutes Tuomas commit suicide on stage, so to speak. And it all fits together musically composed and perfectly coordinated. That shows the genius of Tuomas.
Alright, yes. I'm one of those fuckers who was soo fortunate to have been at this show. For context, I saw 4 Wacken's prior to and 2 after this go 'round. The 2013 festival was really good, but this particular show is easily in my top 10 or 15 ever. Ever! And "ever" is a metric shit-ton of shows over nearly 50 years of attending live concerts. So much so, I regularly play this entire show every 6 weeks or so to try to relive my epic experience there. I just got back to Dallas this morning after a few days at our "compound" in NE OK. And yes, just the other day I turned the speakers outwards from that one shop/barn, hooked up the projector, and blasted this greatness out over some 200 acres! (strangley enough, there are myriad fish, deer and birds in that area who do a sorta Dutch-inspired windmilling head bang technique that has local wildlife experts baffled 🤘👹🤘) That said, this cut is one of my top 5 songs from that show. You both remarked early on about the band and audience's high level of enjoyment and absolute engagement. Notice then the ridiculous leveling up of that connection-energy during that mini break (see Marko do that little flicking away gesture). Well, shit. Granted that most people have never been in the middle of even 1000 people, much less 80-something thousand screaming, fully energized rockers. At Wacken Open Air, for metal's sake! It's hard to convey the amount of joy/love/metal energy swirling through those Northern German fields. Yep, definitely one for the books! Thank you, you glorious knuckleheads! Running through the whole show is a fine plan, and provides context not available to those who pick and choose and here and there their way through this band and necessarily this show. Cheers dudes! 🤘

Doing a lot of talking over the music doesn’t bother me so much cuz I can’t hear the music. I’ve been I Nightwish fan for 20 years and know the music. What bothers me when reactors do that is the fact that it usually makes it harder to hear their reactions. That’s why I’m here after all 😁👍🏻

Just to make sure this is said often enough that you keep it in mind. When you finally reach "i Want my Teary Back" just jump over to the Buenos Aires - Concert 2018. Many people here will tell you about the "prank" Emppu is Playing to Floor at Wacken - but, you don´t acutally see it. there is just a small face-off between Floor and Emppu - it´s nice, but not worth missing Buenos Aires ;-) BUT - you will REALLY enjoy the Buenos Aires version. - Floor looks like a Valkyre-Godess - The crowd is going nuts - everyone is obviously having the best time of their lifes on stage ;-)

I don't want to brag. But I live in Belgium. we have our own metal festival; Graspop Metal Meeting. 200,000 people visit it spread over 4 days. And then again with the best beer in the world😉 this is where I go every year. next to us is Germany where this famous Wacken Open Air takes place. it is the largest open air metal festival in the world. If you're open to new suggestions, I highly recommend "Black Diamond" by Stratovarius, one of the pioneers of Symphonic / Melodic / Power Metal from Finland. Take care guys!
Freakin great reaction and SOOO damn funny lol I hope its ok to say but please take mine and other Nightwish fans advice and do not rush into either Poet and the Pendulum OR Greatest Show on Earth. Both of those songs are cornerstone songs for this band, are long, and are extremely intense, and extremely emotional. Rushing into them too soon will only reduce the impact of those songs. So our collective advice is two things. 1. Get a few other Nightwish songs under your belt reaction wise first, which doing all of Wacken is a good way to do this. Your on a great start so far :) and 2. When you do get around finally to reacting to Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth, do some research about the songs and their lyrics first. When it comes to Poet and the Pendulum, it is about the years and months leading up to, during and after parting ways with the bands first singer after 10 years. So reading the lyrics and history about that time in Nighwish history, and how the fans reacted to that before listening it for the first time, well help you understand just how massively impactful the time and the song was for the band, and the fans. Tuomas is a master composer, and taking this advice will only enhance your appreciation for the songs he has written when you finally do get around to reacting to them :) We Nightwish fans LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to watch other people enjoy discovering Nighwish for the first time. Why? Because then we get to relive the experience WE HAD as we watch you discover them for the first time. :) Have fun, enjoy the ride, and we will enjoy it with you!!

If you want more of Marko's singing, you only have to go back to his old band, Tarot. He and his brother started that band in the mid 80s. He was the primary singer for years. He was with Sinergy, and with Northern Kings, a cover group with other metal singers. Marko has also been a guest vocalist with several European metal bands over the years, including Ayreon, Delain, Amorphis, and others.

After exactly 3 minutes Tuomas commit suicide on stage, so to speak. And it all fits together musically composed and perfectly coordinated. That shows the genius of Tuomas.
Alright, yes. I'm one of those fuckers who was soo fortunate to have been at this show. For context, I saw 4 Wacken's prior to and 2 after this go 'round. The 2013 festival was really good, but this particular show is easily in my top 10 or 15 ever. Ever! And "ever" is a metric shit-ton of shows over nearly 50 years of attending live concerts. So much so, I regularly play this entire show every 6 weeks or so to try to relive my epic experience there. I just got back to Dallas this morning after a few days at our "compound" in NE OK. And yes, just the other day I turned the speakers outwards from that one shop/barn, hooked up the projector, and blasted this greatness out over some 200 acres! (strangley enough, there are myriad fish, deer and birds in that area who do a sorta Dutch-inspired windmilling head bang technique that has local wildlife experts baffled 🤘👹🤘)
That said, this cut is one of my top 5 songs from that show. You both remarked early on about the band and audience's high level of enjoyment and absolute engagement. Notice then the ridiculous leveling up of that connection-energy during that mini break (see Marko do that little flicking away gesture). Well, shit. Granted that most people have never been in the middle of even 1000 people, much less 80-something thousand screaming, fully energized rockers. At Wacken Open Air, for metal's sake! It's hard to convey the amount of joy/love/metal energy swirling through those Northern German fields. Yep, definitely one for the books!

I don't want to brag. But I live in Belgium. we have our own metal festival; Graspop Metal Meeting. 200,000 people visit it spread over 4 days. And then again with the best beer in the world😉 this is where I go every year. next to us is Germany where this famous Wacken Open Air takes place. it is the largest open air metal festival in the world. Freakin great reaction and SOOO damn funny lol I hope its ok to say but please take mine and other Nightwish fans advice and do not rush into either Poet and the Pendulum OR Greatest Show on Earth. Both of those songs are cornerstone songs for this band, are long, and are extremely intense, and extremely emotional. Rushing into them too soon will only reduce the impact of those songs. So our collective advice is two things. 1. Get a few other Nightwish songs under your belt reaction wise first, which doing all of Wacken is a good way to do this. Your on a great start so far :) and 2. When you do get around finally to reacting to Poet and the Pendulum and Greatest Show on Earth, do some research about the songs and their lyrics first. When it comes to Poet and the Pendulum, it is about the years and months leading up to, during and after parting ways with the bands first singer after 10 years. So reading the lyrics and history about that time in Nighwish history, and how the fans reacted to that before listening it for the first time, well help you understand just how massively impactful the time and the song was for the band, and the fans. Tuomas is a master composer, and taking this advice will only enhance your appreciation for the songs he has written when you finally do get around to reacting to them :) We Nightwish fans LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE to watch other people enjoy discovering Nighwish for the first time. Why? Because then we get to relive the experience WE HAD as we watch you discover them for the first time. :) Have fun, enjoy the ride, and we will enjoy it with you!!

If you want more of Marko's singing, you only have to go back to his old band, Tarot. He and his brother started that band in the mid 80s. He was the primary singer for years. He was with Sinergy, and with Northern Kings, a cover group with other metal singers. Marko has also been a guest vocalist with several European metal bands over the years, including Ayreon, Delain, Amorphis, and others.
