    Put in a 150 main jet and 50 pilot. Put back to top notch with spacer from Suzuki. Adjust mixture. Will run sweetly. Check plugs after long ride. Should be light tan.

      Dan Electron 42.5. Same as south Africa.

      Dan Electron more air so will run more lean. Was too rich due to the bigger main jet. Also less prone to clogging up.

      Dan Electron true. This bike is truly an old school machine designed for durability and pure fun. Aftermarket pipes create havoc to the system. The stock pipe is so quiet. I dropped the needle right down to the top notch and raised the float.. Helped a lot. But good luck. The carb is very basic. Some allow to bleed the popping with a special screw in the carb.

      Dan Electron hope u come right. Trial and error. But once you get it right there's no going back. You will love it. Make sure the float is set to the correct level and your air filter is clean. Use engine oil on it. What pipe are you using?

      Dan Electron I'm using the stock needle. Clip is on the upper most notch with spacer underneath. Did not grind the needle. Covered up hole in airbox.

      That's probably because my one didn't see much dirt.

    I have a 2002 suzuki dr 650 and I just bought a yoshimura slip on for it. I was wondering if I should adjust the needle towards the richer side to compensate for additional air flow. Bike is stock otherwise.

      Did you open the air box or remove the snorkel or anything? If not, you didn’t really create any extra airflow and wouldn’t need to adjust anything if the bike is running fine. That’s the issue with the guy in this video, his mechanic had no clue what he was talking about. Increase air in and air out, you would need more fuel. Just adding a slip on exhaust doesn’t change the amount of air in.

    So raising the needle will make it richer, I don't have the notches. So if I put a couple washers on the needle to raise it will that work?

    • @MothershipVideos
      @MothershipVideos  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will make the mixture richer for sure. It might pay to go on line and grab a multi notched needle. Ride safe.

    I'm surprised that will all the diligent maintenance that you do, with some small sensible upgrades, that you have not replaced the tiny factory fuel filter with a normal sized one. Why is this?

    Hi, cool videos. I am new to all this, so does this increase the pressure inside the carby and give you an increase in power? What is you changed it to the third or fourth position?

    • @MothershipVideos
      @MothershipVideos  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      By changing the needle position you either make the mixture leaner or richer. Dropping the needle [raising the clip] will make for a leaner condition. Remember that I have the "Dyno-Jet" kit installed. The standard carb setting is usually on the lean side already.

    • @shane2493

      Ok thanks. How has the bike improved with the Dyno-Jet kit?

    Hello my dear friend. I would like to ask a great favor. I live in Patagonia. Chile. I have a DR 650 SE motorbike and I have to change the starting heating pad for the motorbike. Do you have any video of what you could tell me about? I am infinitely grateful.

    Factory plastic Spacer missing on needle under clip. Bike will run too lean.

      When you install the "Dyno Jet" needle and jets they say to leave out the white spacer. Ride safe.
