    Really helpful video. I had to change the battery in my wife's Astra and did not have a clue where to start. Thank you so much!

    Just wanted to say that this video enabled me to change the battery in my Astra J in about 20 minutes despite my minimal experience. This is a first class instructional video and made the process extremely quick and stress-free. Thank you!

    Really good instructional video, and the best I've seen. Covers every step well.
    Thank you.
    I'll just add that when I reconnected my new battery I had a Code 59 showing on the dashboard display. Codes 59/60 refer to the front electric windows and just simply winding them down and up again cleared it.

      Thanks for your comment Chris, pleased you found the video helpful. I didn't have any error codes after my battery change so I'm glad you got yours sorted.

    This is by far the best video on how to change the Astra J battery . The other videos on youtube are either plain wrong or over-complicate the process. Very clear, informative and precise!

    I'm really impressed. After watching the video, it took me less than 20 mins to get the battery changed. After doing research before watching this video, I was paranoid that the alarm was going to sound, but I was reassured by your responses, and went ahead, with no issues at all. Thank you so much.

    Great video. I have a 2013 astra 1.6 petrol. I followed every step of your instructions with no problems. Completed the task in 23 minutes. When finished the radio worked ok and the instructions on the dash display talked me through the electric window reistatement process. Well done, thanks

    Thank you so much for making this video. I followed it step by step as I changed the battery in my 2012 Astra and it probably saved me a lot of stress trying to work it out for myself! The swap took about 20 minutes as described - perfect! Thanks again, your help is much appreciated!

    I just did it on my Astra J. No problems whatsoever. All it asked me to do after I fitted the new battery was to open and close the driver window then open and close the passenger window. No alarm went off; no radio code needed. I didn't notice a retaining clip, but I suspect whoever had been at it before me was responsible for that.
    The advice to disconnect the battery within fifteen seconds of switching off the ignition comes from page 187 of the manual, but I didn't need to do that, after having read the comments.
    Thanks for making this. It was a great help to me. You make it look so easy. I watched one video where he obviously didn't know what he was doing and made it look like hard work, fumbling around. I suppose everything is easy if you know how to do it.

    Thank you Alex for this precise manual. It took my 35 minutes to change the battery as I did not have the proper tools. These were in the trunk of the car when I unplugged the battery, so trunk was locked :) Please maybe only add Opel Astra into desription, I believe you would have much more hits from continental Europe. Cheers :)

    An excellent instructional video, the first video I looked at made a dogs dinner of removing the plastic cover on the positive side of the battery, your use of a screw driver to release the clip was so much easier, the only issue I had with the radio was to reset the time and date (2013 Astra 1.4 Energy).

    Fantastic clear video with perfect instructions for a novice. I purchased the same battery from Tayna as you. Exide 110 AGM Car Battery 80Ah AGM800 EK800 stop/ start battery at £119.99 including next day delivery and fitted with no issues. Saved myself at least £60/£70 and impressed the girlfriend, who was watching. No radio code loss, just the windows up and down as stated as per dash instructions. Top man for making the video

    Hi Alex, thanks for the instructional video, you explained everything in detail. But before I change the battery, I just wanted to check with you did you need the radio code, as I can't find my radio code and did you need a reprogramming tool as well. I have an Astra J like yourself. If you could let me know, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Craig

    • @alexdoesdiy8476
      @alexdoesdiy8476  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Craig, I didn't need a radio code. I can't promise you won't (disclaimer!!) but if I recall correctly there is at least one other comment below that another viewer also did their battery change without needing a code. Hope that helps, and good luck.

    Dude first of all it was a great Diy video!! For the radio code did you had any issues about it as you have completely disconnect the battery before replacing the new one?
    Where can i find my radio code ? I have heard that its not an issue for astra j as the code is built in to the cars canbus.
    Lastly does your car has an Oem alarm built in ? Forums say you need to turn on and of the ignition then disconnect the battery within 15 seconds . Hope it works for me i’m gonna replace mine this this week 🙂

    • @alexdoesdiy8476
      @alexdoesdiy8476  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thanks for the positive comment!
      I had no issues with the radio code or with the alarm. I didn't turn the ignition on first, TBH I've not heard of needing to do that on any cars I've changed batteries on.
      Let me know how you get on

    Im thinking of buying a stronger battery but they all are a bit longer (25-35mm).

    • @alexdoesdiy8476
      @alexdoesdiy8476  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry for the delayed response. From memory the battery compartment didn't have much spare room, I'm not sure that larger battery would fit. But I think the only way to check would to measure your fitting, I can't advise either way I'm sorry.

    Seriously changing a battery shouldn't be this complicated. Everything about my astra under the bonnet is overly difficult, bulbs, batteries whatever.
