    Spyder owner. Relatively healthy rider of over 40 years. Sold my Victory to tour on the Spyder and we love it. Is it the same? No. But we like it. Nice objective review. Stay safe.

    One tip that I do when washing my motorcycle is to cover the left and right housing switches with a plastic bag. This keeps water out of the blinkers, cruise control, light switches etc. Prevents direct water intrusion and possible future issues. May be a bit overkill but can’t hurt.

      It probably is a good idea not to aim a hose (or powerwasher!) at those control units, or any place where switches or any electrical components are. Wrapping them with a plastic bag (or saran wrap) would be a great idea for protecting them if you're just blowing the water all over the entire bike.

    I also like keeping my Spyder clean. Drying it off is harder than cleaning it! I use Chemical Guys Matte shampoo and their Matte detailer. Cheers Chris!

    think it can be helpful so don't sell yourself short. Sure I've been on two-wheelers for 52 years and only just got into the Spyder because I don't want to do knee or shoulder surgery if I can help it. I will definitely say that washing a Spyder is different from washing a two-wheeler, and with more body surface and a different under-carriage, it's good to get others' perspectives on how THEY do it. We all learn from each other. Thanks for posting this. I'll hang around a while and look at some of your content.

    After I wash my Trike I take my leaf blower and blow as much water off of it as I can and then I wipe it down

    • @SpyderChrisYT
      @SpyderChrisYT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great idea. I don’t have a leaf blower but if I did I would do the same.

    • @broderp
      @broderp 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Bad idea if it's one used around the yard. Leaf blowers work by suck8ng in air, the same air that is like goy a lot of dirt and other particles from blowing around leaves and other debris. This will act like a mini sand blaster on your vehicle. Best buy a small cheap one that's dedicated for this task if you do.

    If you can, please check your fuse covers in the frunk after washing your spyder. I have a 21 RTL and everytime I wash it there is water in the fuse covers. I of course dry them but wondered of others have that same issue. Thanks.

    I have a 23 RT-L Matte Black and as mentioned do not use anything with wax / polish on it, says it right in the manual. That said I tried several different Matte Cleaners and they were ok but then I switched to The Glass Cleaner SprayWay and it works wonders. It is also much cheaper than almost anything out there, you can buy it in bulk at places like BJs. Give it a try, I use it on all surfaces except the seat / black rubbery surfaces for those I use 303 Aerospace Protectant.

    My only concern is if you’re checking the air pressure after you wash the SpYder then the tires are slightly cooler, therefore not accurate. Granted it’s minimal but still will be different

    A word of caution that may or may not apply to your year, make, model. My 22 RTL gauges do not like water. Both after getting caught in the rain and after a wash the right half of the gauge goes off & on until the gauge dries out. I also remember a post in a forum about BRP refusing a warranty claim due to water incursion. I now do NOT get my gauges wet at all. Only exception is getting caught in the rain.

    • @SpyderChrisYT
      @SpyderChrisYT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      So far, my gauges have survived many washes, and multiple heavy rains.

      get thee to a service shop! electrical shorts on bikes are nowhere near the headache they are for 4-wheelers (cars), but I've been caught in enough rainstorms to know that when things start to short from wet, it's only a matter of time before something goes completely south at entirely the wrong moment. 3 years ago I was on the return leg of a ride of about 400 miles and on the last segment it started to rain - HARD. My buddy's HD's lights started twitching and then his entire electric system went and the bike shut down. We rolled - and then pushed it to a place somewhat out of the rain. It took almost an hour to dry it enough to start it, but 5 minutes back in the wet it repeated it and that was it. I wound up riding him home (about 70 miles) and we had to take a trailer back to get that bike home. Don't chance it - if i get wet WHILE I am out, it's all part of the ride; but I don't leave either knowing I'm getting wet or chancing a wonkey component.

      @@verdedenim662 Yep-sounds about right. Based on your experience and others similar circumstances, the next logical evolution in motorcycles is to make them totally electric, right!?

    How do you find the Frunk /Trunk and side paniers after washing. Some people on FB have mentioned evidence of water ingress not just after washing but also after riding out and getting caught in a rain shower?

    • @SpyderChrisYT

      My seals work well.

    • @verdedenim662
      @verdedenim662 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      If you're getting water ingress in any of the storage areas, I'd look carefully at the seals around those access points. It may be time to replace them. All the storage 'boxes' on my ride get used and I'd have a fit if I went somewhere in a rain and found water on the _inside_ of any of them.

    Nice job, any idea how the spray can works on gloss finish? What are your initial thoughts on the Canam Caynon? I like the look of it and the extra ground clearance, just wondering if you give up any comfort for the features.

    • @SpyderChrisYT
      @SpyderChrisYT  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The spray I use seems to work well on all finishes. I love that BRP came out with the Canyon, even though it’s not for me. I want an off road capable Spyder, but the Canyon doesn’t seem like it would be as good for long range cruising. That’s my initial take.

    Flat paint = no wax and no polish. Using either can lead to a milky or blotchy matte paint job.
    Do not us the spray polish. I recommend the Chemical guys matte products. That is what I use on the same mine which is the same spec as yours.
