- Saudi Arabia's Largest-Ever Plane Order Goes to Airbus, Not Boeing | Firstpost America
Saudia Group, the owner of Saudi Arabia's national airline and budget carrier flyadeal, has signed a deal with European planemaker Airbus, which is the largest ever in the country's aviation history. It has placed an order for 105 planes that is reportedly worth $19 billion. Saudia Group's Director-General Ibrahim Al-Omar says the first planes would be delivered in the first quarter of 2026. The deal marks a bounce-back for Airbus, just months after its American rival Boeing had been tipped to win more Saudi business. In November last year, Riyadh Air said it was weeks away from placing a large order reportedly involving Boeing planes. However, months later, no such order has surfaced.

Airbus CEO is an engineer, while Boeing CEO is a "businessman" that wants to make money.
Good choice on Airbus for sake of safety over Boeing. Boeing exit door drop out and next could be the two engines
Saudi Arabia choice has nothing to do with Boeing's problems.
Right now, Saudi Arabia exports 7bn worth of goods (petroleum) to France and import only 4bn (2022). Most of the French export was weaponry. However, the French is pressing their President to stop the arms sale to Saudi Arabia. So, Macron urged Saudi Arabia to buy something else (like Airbus).
it's all "business", do not get ahead of yourself.
@@victorcretu7741 no it's not
@@victorcretu7741good phantasy.
@@victorcretu7741 how to make a dissertation about having zero idea of trade economics 😂
Airbus is not a French manufacturer. It's pan European. This is basic information.
it originally comes from France and the headquarter of Airbus is in the south of France ...
Same for the European space station it's in the french island Guyana
@johndoe-cd9vt well Tolousa is the headquarter but they manufacture everywhere in Europe
@@johndoe-cd9vt Well no, it formed as a merger of multiple companies. The major stakeholders now are France, Germany, Spain and the UK.
You are ofcourse absolutely correct and I first thought when I watched this vlog it’s very poor journalism how can you get a basic fact like that wrong !
@@johndoe-cd9vt It was a joint venture of French, German and Spanish aerospace companies. UK also added important development work to the wings. French of course demanded to have the headquaters in France so they can claim it's 100% theirs. Just check Wikipedia.
I don't blame Saudi Arabia. Boeing did it to themselves.
A very wise decision, considering Boeing's endless technical issues and whistle-blower deaths
Even I am scared 😱 to fly Boeing. Can’t blame them.
Airbus is not only French. It is a German, Spanish, French and British consortium.
The headquarter is in France, Airbus was originally created by France and Germany the other countries joined later...
France is ahead of all these funders when it's about planes or space (for example, France is the 2nd military supplier in the world, mainly because of the Rafale sales).
@@johndoe-cd9vt and?
Lately, I picked the plane tickets for my family after making sure the plane model wasn't a Boeing, i even passed on cheaper tickets. can't blame them.
I do the same. It’s not about price anymore, I just don’t have a death wish. Last flight was on JetBlue and I even flew out of a different airport slightly further away so I didn’t have to get on a Boeing. I was a Boeing fanboy for over 40 years but nothing would persuade me to set a foot on one and that includes price.
A coffin nail on Boeing.
no, those are the decisions taken by the FAA. As a German, I always admired the Boeing planes, (not necessarily the business habits) and I'm honestly very disappointed about the actual performance.
@@augustiner3821what nonsense you talk
@@ozbolli what exactly is nonsense?
@@augustiner3821 that the decisions are made by the FAA. Even if they find everything is fine and above board at Boeing, it’s the customers (airlines & end users) who make the decision whether the proverbial nail is inserted into the coffin, not the FAA.
@augustiner3821 Boeing has been shit last 10 years or so . They killed 346 people with faulty planes back in 2018 and 2019v.Airbus have been doing much better
Everything falling apart , the manufacturer and nation.
What are you talking about?
The USA's GDP growth was 3% in 2023.
The USD is stronger than ever.
Not for long.?

I now bring my own backpack parachute everytime i travel just in case i board a Boeing plane 😅
really good idea
🤣😂🤣🤦
Make sure to sit next to the emergency door.
VERY GOOD IDEA
Shouldn't have problem prying doors off....

Bus security is looking safer
Saudia is one of my favourite Airlines and I'm *HAPPY* 😃 *HAPPY* 😃 *HAPPY* to hear this! Airbus and nothing but Airbus! ♥️
I'm scared to fly a Boeing plane 😢
You are the pilot?
Woooow!!!!! The real big plane maker is now officially Airbus! Hats off Airbus for your amazing work that you have put in to make such amazing aircraft! 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Bad reputation will cost u greatly
Do you remember this: New York Times 11 April 1969 « Britain Abandons the European Airbus Project; Believes Building the Plane Is a Losing Proposition. » British 'wisdom'..😂😂
Then France asked Germany if they wanted to continue the A300 project, and signed an agreement 50-50 at 1969 Paris Air Show... In 2024 Airbus is World leader by far.
Then 🇪🇸 Spain joined by 5% , I think even Russia wanted to but refused by Airbus.
All the wings for Airbus are made in Britain .
Go figure, I guess Saudis prefer to travel in safe planes.
And someone out there is wondering why?
Other than that this "expert" isn't even able to search on google before giving informations to the public, he is utterly wrong because AIRBUS is an European consortium involving France, Germany, Uk, Spain and Italy.
Airbus is not a "French company" It's is a European consortium of France Britain Germany and Spain.
Who would have expected 🤯😂
Boing is just a flying coffin ⚰️
Boeing beautifully illustrates the USA more generally ... it's on an irreversible downward trajectory.
Just curious if Biden is going to sanction Airbus for national security concerns 😂
I’m sure it’s coming.
No sanctions as long as Airbus gives a few million to his crackhead son.
Well if passengers are scared of flying Boeing's then it's hardly surprising that airlines will buy Airbus. Time for Boeing to be led by engineers again.
I hope Indonesia airlines buy airbuss for safety
Boeing is done 👏
Saudia arlines is super safe
Boeing planes garbage
I just fly Airbus safe & trust ❤❤❤
Boeings coming apart, falling out the sky !! Yeah why would you want to buy those !!
I don’t think Boeing really cares, but I do think they will remember this
Flown on Saudi Air before and even economy feels like first class, so I understand why they chose Airbus. Airbus feels more comfortable and luxurious than Boeing.
Definitely agree to this. And absolutely NOTHING beats the King of the skies, the A380. That thing is like a Rolls Royce of the skies.
I am always anxious knowing to fly a Boeing instead of an Airbus.
Thanks GOD that makes me feel the world is one step safer
Lemme guess, Boeing's recent problems played a HUGE role in this decision !
I'm trying to go to Europe & I refuse to fly on any Boeing planes.
Pure corporate greed, numbers and money over quality.
Sleepy joe will sleep thru this
Airbus Industrie employs more than 50,000 people. Employees work directly on Airbus aircraft in France, Germany, Spain, the United Kingdom, and China, and others are employed in engineering, sales, training, and other occupations around the world.
Not a French planemaker. European planemaker. Or more like German, French, Spanish and British planemaker
The headquarter is in France, Airbus was originally created by France and Germany the other countries joined later...
France is ahead of all these funders when it's about planes or space (for example, France is the 2nd military supplier in the world, mainly because of the Rafale sales).
Too bad Embraer doesn't get into the game with bigger, better ranged jetliners?
Airbus is not French it is registered under EU arrangements, although the UK remains a major shareholder through BAE.
They just bought billions of dollars worth 787s a few months ago. They are all about keeping both sides happy
Personally I feel safer in any airbus but only boieng 777 has that level of safety.
they know that airbus is much safer than boeing
Airbus is not "French", it is European.
Congratulation airbus for the orders from Saudi Arabis airlines...
I flew on a max 8 just the other day. The flight was ok but the cabin felt somehow narrower compared to an A320.
Large orders like these also have some geo-political colors.
Singapore turbulence plane was Boeing. LOL
It was a B777, once the safest plane.
Turbulence can happen to any plane. Not sure what your point is
@@ericfritts7039 my point is when there are only two companies dominate the market, there will little rooms for improvements. The world is shared between them, like or dislike. This happens to the US democracy too.
@@ericfritts7039 Also, Boeing is the oldest airplane manufacturing in the world. But like other Americans like Ford, they tend to corrupt and less innovation.
@@MSDGroup-ez6zk thank you for that insightful commentary. 🤣
its not a french airline, report properly
I mean boeing got issues..so airbus the next choice for now
Let this be a lesson to Boeing execs
Stay safe folks. Fly Airbus👍
Air India should do the same
Are we suprised😂
This is now the downfall of Boeing.
I would rather lose money than trust : Robert Bosch
Exactly 💯 ✊🏾
Customers are willing to wait for a great product to come to market vs. getting a subpar product to come to market fast.
Boeing also loss out on India's orders:
National, June 19, 2023: IndiGo, India's most preferred airline, is further defining its long-term future, well into the next decade, by placing a firm order for 500 Airbus A320 Family aircraft. This 500 aircraft order is not only IndiGo’s largest order, but also the largest-ever single aircraft purchase by any airline with Airbus. The engine selection for this order will be done in due course and so will be the exact mix of A320 and A321 aircraft.
In reality, more and more American students go for the easy majors that earn a lot of money while Indian, Chinese students dominate technical fields.
It was an issue with a spirit plane in Jamaica recently which is airbus how come that wasn’t televised like Boeing
0:54 2:43 O dear, dear me!
Airbus is an *European Multinational Consortium* with legal headquarters in the Netherlands and operational headquarters in France, with major assembly plants in France, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom and recent ones in Canada, China, and the United States.
The headquarter is in France, Airbus was originally created by France and Germany the other countries joined later...
France is ahead of all these funders when it's about planes or space (for example, France is the 2nd military supplier in the world, mainly because of the Rafale sales).
@@johndoe-cd9vt Just being facetious or what is it you are trying to prove or disprove?
Merely elaborating with irrelevant factoids (viz. Dassault's Rafale) still does not detract from the firm fact that Airbus is an European consortium.
Indeed for those with a legalistic turn of mind one could aver that Airbus is in fact a Dutch entity-after all its legal headquarters are in the Netherlands...
@@benedictdesilva6677 refresh your info, the legal entity is registered in Netherlands but the daily management is in France, the real business is mainly in Toulouse city.
France is at the core of Airbus and is way more advanced than all the others fonders in terms of knowledge.
Toulouse city is also a key city for the European space program and it's also where all the optical tools of the Curiosity robot have been developed.
@@johndoe-cd9vt Neither parties in this discourse needs to _refresh any info._ This would only be necessary if there have been facts (info) presented that do not stand up to scrutiny. All of the info presented has been essentially incontestable. Even the undisputed, but nonetheless irrelevant metrics of France's domination. However all of these are moot to the fact that Airbus (EADS) is technologically, operatively, and above all in terms of its own identity: not a French company.
well who wants to fly an aircraft that goes down...
European plane maker that assembles the planes in France, hence not a French plane maker!
I like Airbus but this is not good for the airline industry. We need the competition to keep innovation & safety at par.
Boeing needs to fix its safety issues.

Ryanair have 300 737 max in order

Boeing needs to fix itself from scratch....
US govt must intervene in Boeing to salve it...
Micheal O'Leary soon to be Boeing CEO
A big blow for boeing. Saudi Arabian airlines a regular boeing customer buys jets from Airbus.
It's not just the planes, it's e leadership.. muileinburg n Calhoun "best" CEOs AIB ever had.....
Saudia has historically been an Airbus narrowbody user, so Boeing shouldn’t be surprised.
Historically?? how old are you? Saudia was all Boeing , 737-200 and 707 were the backbone of the airline. but while Boeing start getting less and less reliable, Airbus got more and more reliable, and when you are buying cash, you get the best in the market.
The question should be what kind of tourist are they looking for? Do they want a particular type of ethnic group?
Well done Airbus once again.

😂 Boeing fumbled
US falling behind russia in terms of air safety
Well i reckon they’ll be waiting a few years. Long backlogs on orders already in
