    I absolutely love Shakespeare! I read Hamlet senior year and it holds in my memory because my senior class was supposed to finish it but then COVID hit and we never finished it. Also, To Kill A Mocking Bird is SO GOOD! I MAY HAD a crush on Atticus Finch when I first read this…in tenth grade 😅

    To Kill a Mockingbird is a book about the evils of prejudice. There are many mockingbirds in the south part of United States, where I live. “To kill a mockingbird” means to kill innocence. Mockingbirds sing beautifully and I always stop to listen to them. I think you will enjoy the book. Happy Reading!😊

    these are such wonderful reading plans! some advice for reading shakespeare: i recommend looking up a summary of the play before you read it (for example one of those ‘a midsummer night’s dream in 10 minutes’ videos here on youtube). that way you know the basic outline and even if the language gets complicated you still know what’s going on! also watching the play performed on stage (the national theatre and the shakespeare globe always have incredible productions that you can find online) will bring life to it and make it feel much more exciting!! i hope this helps, enjoy shakespeare :)

    I can't wait to hear your thoughts on all of these, hopefully in a years time! To Kill A Mockingbird is a bit of a controversial one now, but I adored it when I read it in school

    The Monk, I think is becoming a favorite for me. I wasn’t sure how I felt about it at first but I’ve thought about it at least once a month since I read it. I’ll definitely reread it next year.
    I’m planning to read War & Peace in 2023 as well. I’m hoping January or February because for some reason I’ve enjoyed Tolstoy most in the winter months so far.
    I want to read more Tolkien this coming year. Beren & Luthien most definitely.
    So many more I want to get to. I need to start GOT, finish Earthsea, read some Shirley Jackson in the fall finally.

    AHH, I love Classics TBRs so much! 😄 I completely agree with you about the Picture of Dorian Gray! ❤ Shakespeare is always my comfort read, so I'm definitely planning to get into some of his works next year as well :) I've read 6 of his plays so far, but I've only seen one live. I hope you'll enjoy Hamlet and Midsummer Night's Dream :) I was planning to read War and Peace this year, but it just didn't happen, so maybe I'll join you next year 😜 I've never read To Kill the Mockingbird either and I've always felt so bad about it, especially, because my auntie gifted me one of the most beautiful editions of it 10 years ago. 😊 I hope you're going to have a great time with the books you've chosen and I can't wait for you to reveal the secret one 😉

    I think it's a good idea to give yourself time with count of monte cristo and reading both les mis and that sounds like a lot for big books! I have read it already so can't join in with a buddy read but if there is a liveshow I'd love to see the discussion. YAY shakespeare!! Can't wait to see what you think of war and piece! And yes, I know why the caged bird sings is very intense emotionally, but it is well done too. Oh yes, beloved is absolutely amazing. Hope you can get to all of these and enjoy them 😇

    What a coincidence. I just found a used copy of The Monk. I have not heard too many people talk about it. Hopefully we will both get around to it next year.
    I love Hamlet and A Midsummer Night's Dream. I'm more drawn to A Midsummer Night's Dream, personally. (Mostly because it is not as long. LOL) I think you will love it, especially since it has faeries and other fantasy elements and you are a fantasy reader. They also both have good movie adaptations. Sometimes seeing it acted out can help, if the language is a bit harder, because it's so old.
    I really want to read some Isabel Allende too. I could never decide which. Perhaps I will use Rory as a guide too ! I never thought of doing that before. I love it. Gilmore Girls is the best!

    • @MaryAmongStories
      @MaryAmongStories  ปีที่แล้ว

      how fun, I hope we both enjoy it!
      ahh yes, I think I'll love it too precisely because of those reasons 🧚🏼‍♀️ yes!! Gilmore Girls is always a good bookish guide ✨

    Olá, Mary ☺️ I have been a follower for some time now, but it's my first time leaving a comment. All of these sound great. I also want to read Shakespeare next year. I have seen a couple of plays on stage and my favourite is Much Ado About Nothing (which I also read and loved). Now I want to read his other stories - I bought some in a second-hand bookshop and can't wait to get started.
    Maya Angelou's book is amazing and a great one to start, I'm sure you will love it.

    Most everybody says Beloved, but Toni Morrison's best work easily is Song of Solomon. The initial premise of Beloved that shocks everyone and everyone comments on was taken from a historical account (not the imagination of the author). That carries the book quite far, but that premise does not make the book as good as Song of Solomon, which is a truly Great Book (capital letters), and very beautiful and moving. Read both and let me know what you think. I bet Rory Gilmore would agree with me.
