Your son reminds me of our youngest (who's now 47) He could drive like that at 5 but couldn't see over the steering wheel! By 7 he could & on a Ranch in Arizona he could drive forklifts & backup my One Ton Truck to a loading dock! Good for you for teaching him how at an early age!
Interesting to see how the culture is quite similar across the world, im here in the uk (not a farmer at all) and this mans in scotland and here you are over in the usa with such a similar way of working and living!
Even as a farmer’s daughter and an emergency nurse I *struggle* with maggots. We don’t leave them insitu even though they’re theoretically helpful. There are more controlled ways that we can help, as has been so beautifully demonstrated here.
Problem with maggots here is there's no way to tell which fly species laid them. While nearly all maggots eat rotten tissue some will happily eat live tissue too. When you see a Doc use maggots, they know they come from a species that ONLY eats dead tissue.
@@RequiemPoete I wrote a whole post on this but when I was in medical school the point was explicitly driven home when discussing maggots for wound care that ALL maggot species, including those with a strong preference for necrotic tissue, will eat live flesh if it's all that's available; there is no species that eats exclusively dead flesh or dies.
@@RequiemPoete yes, maggot therapy is a specific part of wound care and it is supervised by doctors and wound care specialists (LPNs or LVNs rarely RNs) who are trained specifically to work with maggots. They are applied for limited time sessions then removed and the wound is cleaned because their... Secretions are not conducive to healing.
I had a wonderful mare (who lived into old age) who, at about 15, stepped on a nail that seemed to churn up from the wet soil like sometimes they do, no matter how hard you try. It puncture her navicular bursa. She was hauled to a well known vet school here in the US. They did surgery but after a time, she was failing. The doc packed her foot with sterile maggots and they ate that infected flesh. Crazy but it saved her life. So, the old maggots helped save her. I don’t know how a maggot becomes sterile and then you have enough to pack a horse’s foot, but, they saved my dear horse. These love your vids and how you help these cows. Awesome stuff!
I love seeing people take genuinely good care of animals. I love cows and seeing how patient and kind both you and the farmer were just made my day. Thank you for doing what you do!

Your little guy is pretty talented for his age...reminds me of my brother that was able to move my Dad's 1949 Ford truck forward out in the field when he emptied the hopper from the corn picker. Congratulations Graham. A million subs taking care of hooves. ..wow! Your son is so cute. He stole the show.. It amazes me how lame an animal can be and after a few minutes in the crash and your expert hands they come out sometimes with little to no limping. Enjoy the weekend.. be safe.

Very interesting. I find it incredible that the sole can still form as a complete layer over disease & dirt, encapsulating it so perfectly that only a few small telltale signs indicate that all is not well. It’s amazing that the layers can grow so fast that they overcome such hindrances as dermatitis or even stones.
I am so happy I found your channel. You've educated me on how and why and what to do in case I have an issue with my cattle. I'll call a hoof professional such as yourself! Thank you Sir!
I absolutely love your care for the animals. It's clear you care about every animal you see and it shows when they trot off happily after those first couple of steps of finding their new feet. It's so adorable!
I don't eat meat or dairy but I've obviously got nothing against someone making cows more comfortable. Very interesting videos as I never realised how intricate their feet are. It never ceases to amaze me what gentle giants they are. The glue you use, Bovibond? I wonder if I coul use something like that in my job, engineering. Oh man.. Maggots? Me no likey maggots. I'm assuming that the cow liked it even less though. Thankfully she got the Hoof GP treatment and is ACAP on the road to recovery!
Those cows are so calm and peaceful, as though they have been through this before and appreciate the treatment and end result. Last year my wife spotted a rash starting on my feet when I was getting out of the shower. off she went for the correct treatment and an application, and I was well and mooing in appreciation. I am 84, a 20-year US Army Vietnam vet and wounded during each tour. This man has what appears to be the correct equipment and knows how to use it. Thank you, sir, for your expertise and care for these animals. I watch a one-man operation in China struggling to chop of the grossly long and often infected hooves on Donkeys. These animals have been more than neglected, the owners probably don't have money to survive for their families. Those poor donkeys have hooves extending way out front on the animal, and they often fall due to the long hooves and their treatment is a beating until they get up and back to work. Again, whoever owns these cows thank you for the proper treatment. When I was a kid, my family couldn't afford to raise us, so we became Wards of the state, and most families that live on a farm took us in, as free help and treated us equal the animal treatment. We were often beaten when we complained. I learned how to shovel manure and drive a tractor and smelled similar to the barn. My Father remarried after nine years, and his new wife assisted in getting me getting out of that nightmare life. I still remember the wife of the man running his dairy farm pulled me aside and said, you know Kenneth you don't have to go with "them" you are welcome to stay with us. I know my dilemma is not what this video is about, but personally I see a resemblance. Again sir, thank you for treating these animals with the care you provide and giving them the life the need.
Love the content. I’m curious how the business side of hoof trimming works. I think a video or two showing the business side of hoof trimming would be cool. Like how you run your typical daily or weekly jobs and other similar details.

And by the way, we all don't watch you for just the timing, we watch because of you; your infectious joy, your silliness, your dedication to your craft, the videos you share of your home and your beautiful family. Shout out to Mrs GP for my GP Hoodia package! And for me, seeing Kier's tooth gap, as my 7 year old grandson Lincoln is about to loose his, gives my the feeling of really being in touch with someone on the other side of the world! Cheers my friend! K.
You do such an amazing job with these cattle! My Dad was a rancher when I was growing up until age 11 when he was killed in a plane crash. I just don’t remember him ever working on the cattle’s feet only the horses feet, so I was surprised when I came upon your videos. I am mesmerized while watching your work. Cute kiddo. What a good driver he is.
I'm sorry to hear about your father's death. He sounded like a hard working man.
I'm so happy that you got 1 mil subs, I can't imagine how happy you must be. Probably busting your britches with pride which you do deserve. You've brought happiness during covid, educated us all about cows hooves and kept yourself and us entertained.
Thank you for just being yourself.
Well said 🙂 glad i watched my first randomly suggested episode some months ago. The rest is history they say!
the shit covered cow foot pedicure with the inspirational music in the back is quite the interesting mix 😂
Oh hello DK, you are the last person I expected here, are you enjoying the cow trimming?
@@luci_datum oddly satisfying for some reason
Lol! Glad you are aware of real farm conditions and realities. ✌🏻
*slurry covered… come on this video has kids in it…

You’re such a lovely man, I’m saying this with an almost 65 year old heart ❤️ your Mum and family must be so proud. I am one of six, we are six beautiful reasons that you can go through some shit and make it !! And best of all get to be 65 ☮️
There's no other herd I would be part of! Great assistant you had, bet you're so proud of him. Videos like this make me thankful there are people like you that care about the well being of animals. Thanks Graeme. 🖤🐄🤍🐂🤎
Congrats again on 1 million hoof geeks!
Now onto that little adorable Scotsman at your side. Just wanna hug him…so adorable!
So happy to see the cattle get their trims. The steer was running at full speed ahead and I swear I saw him hold up his hoof in a peace ✌️ sign and said “DEUCES!! I’M OUTTIE!!” Lol. Cuteness overload.
Thank you for always being respectful of the herdsmen. I love when you include your family occassi in ally in the videos. It is clear you are a good man and a great family man!!! Congratulations on reaching one million subscribers. We know good stuff when we see it!!
Greame, if I may call you directly: I've been with you since some strange TH-cam algorithm suggested your channel a year ago, when I was isolated due to covid. I have no connections to cattle whatsoever, I'm not even Scottish. But watching your vids makes me satisfied and I'm happy to see 1mill subs. Congrats and keep up this work!
I got it randomly suggested the other day and I’m hooked!
Why do you want to call him lol
Just want to say, Hoof GP, that you have such a lovely family. As much as I love watching you tend to cows’ hooves and make them more comfortable, I also really like seeing you at work with your boys or saying good-bye to Mrs. GP in the morning. Thanks as always for the great content! ~Myrna Loy
Oh and btw, CONGRATS on the 1 million subs! Great achievement!
@@milhousevanhoutan9235 Ah. I take it then they make a point to remove them before they get desperate then??
@@RequiemPoete yes, maggot therapy is a specific part of wound care and it is supervised by doctors and wound care specialists (LPNs or LVNs rarely RNs) who are trained specifically to work with maggots. They are applied for limited time sessions then removed and the wound is cleaned because their... Secretions are not conducive to healing.
Damn! a million! All just being yourself and doing your thing! Hard earned and well deserved, congrats!
Not sure how I got your videos but so glad I did. Binge watching now and they make me feel so grateful for people like you. Congrats and stay blessed
I’ve been a member of The Herd for over a year and I’m always amazed at your work! Get job, our fearless trimming leader☺️👍🏽
I love watching you making the cows feel a lot better, and your little boy is handsome just like his dad, and very clever 😍 ❤xx😊
I love seeing people take genuinely good care of animals. I love cows and seeing how patient and kind both you and the farmer were just made my day. Thank you for doing what you do!
Well said! I second that.
People defending maggots don't seem to realise how many species of maggots there are and there are MANY that eat healhty flesh.
Because they are the hoof experts and to quality professionals that work with livestock everyday and totally not some randoms on the internet who watch these vids at 3am🤣😂
@@pretzelicious4200 many of people who watch these videos also happen to be professionals though. TH-cam is accessible to everyone. Ffs
Are there really people moaning on the maggots behalf!!!??

I’ve been around, livestock most of my life until I met my husband who is in military. I love how you describe in detail the issues and what you’re gonna do to help the cow and I agree with the other comment I like how you defend the farmers. Most of your clients I can tell Karen about the cattle I want the best for them. As soon as they can tell their holes or an issue, they bring you in the help. Great video once again well done.
So many maggots on sheep this Autumn so not surprised they are bothering cattle as well! Well done on 1 million Graeme! A dream for small timers like myself!
Everyone starts somewhere Cammy.
Keep doing it for the sheep and everything else will fall into place.
Keep it up Cammy and you'll be there in no time.
Cammy we, your fans are sharing the word about you as fast as we can !!

What a beautiful human this man is...... HOOF GP... you are a blessing to all who may meet you!!!
I can never say this enough Graeme, but your music selections are always gold.
Agreed - as much as I enjoy electronic dance music, it's used WAY too much in TH-cam videos. Graeme knows how to DJ a hoof trimming!
Yeah! As a former audio producer and “radio guy”, I can say you’ve got a good groove going here! 🏴‼️
I loved watching the "bull" 'nope out of there' lickity split.
I find your channel to be very interesting. You are so professional. You take care of the cattle as if they were your own. I admire how you trim their hooves and work towards better health.
Yay the opening is back. I usually HATE openings but yours I could watch over and over. Your added music is cool as well.
It almost sounds like christian music
To me that music is incredibly incredibly twee. I have to skip it.

Hi Graeme, just wanted to say thanks for the awesome videos. Three nights ago I was up for a fair amount of the night trying to get chronic pain caused by Cerebral Palsy under control. This is where your videos are awesome, because they managed to do what pain relief drugs hadn’t done and I finally got some sleep. Big thanks from New Zealand 😀🇳🇿
Sorry to hear, you tube helps a plethora of people
Your little guy is pretty talented for his age...reminds me of my brother that was able to move my Dad's 1949 Ford truck forward out in the field when he emptied the hopper from the corn picker. We were raised on a farm, had chores and were better drivers than any other kids in school...we started driving really early in life!
It's wonderful that you incorporate your family into your work, priceless life experience ,skills and knowledge for a vocation.
Congratulations Graham.
A million subs taking care of hooves. ..wow!
Your son is so cute. He stole the show..
It amazes me how lame an animal can be and after a few minutes in the crash and your expert hands they come out sometimes with little to no limping.
Enjoy the weekend.. be safe.
I love how you take your time to put these cows at ease. You are truly a good person who has found his niche in life. Great job!
A million is nearly the population of Glasgow and Edinburgh combined! Congrats 🎉
Cannot believe how fast this channel has grown... then I see the personality and combine that with the relaxation... yeah I can believe it lol
Hello from Sydney Australia. Mate you’re the best ! I just found you’re channel and I’m hooked . You’re compassion for you’re 4 legged AND 2 legged clientele is exemplary. Thank you
The Hoof GP: "1 million people who are as weird about feet as me"
_me realizing I'm one of those million and just got told I probably have a cow foot fetish..._

It's just oddly satisfying to watch the horn get trimmed and it makes me somehow happy when the creatures in pain get much more comfortable through this. I also like the guy itself - and his dialect is interesting to hear.
Hehehe and your part of our herd!! 🤪😜🤪😁

Me who has seen Gladiator a million times: Maggots can eat away dead tissue and may not be such a problem.
The Hoof GP: Would you want them in your foot?
Me: Take them out, they are a problem.
Lol! Under certain circumstance, maggots *can* be good. This is *not* one of them. Thanks, Graeme! (And Dan for bringing this up!)
@@jamesbain8167 Exactly. Kinda like leeches. They're still used to help drain excess blood but would you *really* want to find one anywhere on you after a dip in the lake?
Lol...this had me rolling...
There's a world of difference between a doctor prescribing (for lack of a better word) maggots under controlled conditions and a wound naturally getting infested.
I remeber when you had only like 40 thousands subs ....... it's amazing how professional and clear spoken and KIND TO THE ANIMALS and have a sanitary work space has gotten you a huge following......... great job man .......
I've loved your channel from the beginning! You always put the cow's well being first. You are a master at editing your video's by drawing the viewer and keeping our attention.
I can't believe that I started following when you were around 20k. Great job expanding you channel. Congrats on the MIL!!!!
Hi I'm a new subscriber and I was watching another video of people who do the same thing that you do. But I honestly felt so bad for those cow's, the people working on their hooves could have cared less about scaring them or making them fall down. It showed me that you care so much about the cattle that you treat. So good for you and it makes me even more proud of my Scottish heritage.
This is just a great series to be able to watch! He's a man who whole heartedly loves his job and is a dedicated family man with excellent values and morals as well!!! My hats off to you Graham!! You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar!! 😁👍
You almost lost me when the maggots showed up 🙀 but I told myself to suck it up and keep watching! 😜. Glad I did. Hey, I love your new helper/driver...watch out Craig! 🥰👍
I am proud to be part of this herd. Congrats on the epic number of subs!! Your young lad is stoic and sensible…you have to be proud of such a good son.
I love that you include your son at such a young age. I’m 25 right now so no kids in my near future. But I hope to have a little me following me around someday! Good on you for showing him the family business!
Oh yeah, forgot to mention! He’s already driving like a pro!😂
Congratulations on reaching 1 million subs, Graeme! So well-deserved.
I absolutely love your care for the animals. It's clear you care about every animal you see and it shows when they trot off happily after those first couple of steps of finding their new feet. It's so adorable!
you are amazing. I love how much you care about the cows. and explain to those who may not understand about livestock care and farming.
We quite often need to be awkward castings for machining.
Can we have a tour of all the damage to the truck? Like a story time about how you managed them? I know most is probably sliding
Well one was from getting the truck stuck between his house and the stone fence. It was on Instagram, thought there was a picture on TH-cam too.
This guy is an artist the way he trimmed the cows poetry in motion ,that takes skill ,keep up the good work.stay safe from Scotland 😮

This man's love shines through in everything he does
I love to see you working with your children your son looks like my grandson loving anything that goes and your mini me. My son in law owns a window washing business in Vermont, USA
K & B window cleaning. He has started with having my grandson Byron Scott fill up the water bottles and wash the cleaning wrags for the business. My son in law worked with his dad. He went to college but decided he liked the window washing business better. So he started a residential one so not to compete with his dad. He knows works 8 months fulltime doing that. He found a local LP propane Business that wanted a seasonal driver and now he is one payroll year round. He helps on rainy days and helps cover vacations. He does the 4th of July parade which my grandson loves.
This may seem weird but the song “unreal” is what made me want to keep watching these videos. And then I started to really enjoy the content too.
I just love how genuine and nice he is.
So glad to see the little laddie GP involved; it warms my heart ❤️.
I had a couple questions but you answered them as your video plays. You do a good job. I bet your son lives coming to work with you.
"Fly strike" is what it's called in chickens when maggots infest any part of their bodies. It can kill them pretty quickly if you don't catch it soon enough. 1,000,000 subs! Looking forward to seeing your button plaque!

Oh man.. Maggots? Me no likey maggots. I'm assuming that the cow liked it even less though. Thankfully she got the Hoof GP treatment and is ACAP on the road to recovery!
When I saw one pop out... I knew there were more
Those cows are so calm and peaceful, as though they have been through this before and appreciate the treatment and end result.
Congrats. Last time I was on Craggie's channel, he had 27K. How cool is that?
