I've played for 30+ years and find your way of teaching very refreshing. I've improved quite a bit by watching your video's, particularly by signing up for the additional materials. I would like to commend you on your approach which is easy to understand and follow.
Well there you go, I'm hooked and have signed up for the courses. Your explanations and walkthroughs are crystal clear. I've been looking for blues, bluegrass (among others) with a feel lessons, and this is it. Thank you so much!
I've been working on this now for a few weeks in my practice routine. I really enjoy this lesson. I'm finally getting it all down. Taking me sometime. I really appreciate your channel.
Haven't seen your CEO-7 in a while. . . .Kinda figured you sold it. Love it! Love it so much I bought one myself a little over a year ago based on some of your previous lessons. Perfect for this kinda blues! Great lesson.
That’s a sweet looking little Martin guitar 🎸 !! I play in chet style and yes it’s not simple I had to work my butt for 2 years before I got through frieght train properly!! Cheers
I been using my thumb as a pick along with the index finger. Natural for me now. This is going to be a challenge for me but with Brian’s lesson and his bonus membership material I know from experience with time and effort I’ll make more progress. Thanks Brian, man! I just have a request… any lesson on using a pick? (I tried but always go back to what feels easy and natural. Hard habit to break.) Although I kinda already know that to do it I just have to be patient and “just do it” and over time with practice It’ll come. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Peace out
Thanks again for the effort to simplify the lesson for us mere mortals. I see you are giving a skip ahead time for the impatient. For me I want to listen to it all. I think it's a great compromise.
Hello, Great lesson!! What is the advised beat metronoom tempo? Cheers from the Netherlands Ps. Is there a trial period when subscribe to your registered website?
I am a intermediate guitar player that can play some pretty complex blues and jazz stuff on both electric and acoustic guitar. However, I really am struggling with learning the thumb bass line. I always stop playing the bass line to pick the next new note. I can get it for a few seconds and then stop. I am driving myself a little nuts with this. Likely just need more practice but I am open to suggestions for sure. Yikes this is hard for me to do.
i might be late but for whoever is also struggling with keeping a steady beat with the thumb: COUNT and dont use a metronome at first. just assign a number/division to every note played while playing the note. Your thumb always lands on the 1 2 3 4. take it real slow and dont worry about being on time when starting out. Once you've got the rhythmic pattern of (as example, the intro melody) "1 and 2 and-a 3 and 4 --a" between your lips and hands synchronized it gets much easier. it's blues, you gotta feel the rhythm Once you got that you can use a metronome to file down your timing inconsistencies. The tab this guy put out is perfect for practicing that since it's not too complex. So figure out some patterns while playing!
Finally a person that explains it the right way
I find myself coming back to this channel over and over again. You are a legend man.

Thank you !!
Very nice Brian! Love this style of playing.
It helped tremendously to keep the thumb moving to the beat was tapping my foot to the beat in sync with my thumb or kinda bobbing my head to the beat
Thanks, this is just the medicine I need in grasping the blues
Lovin' me some Active Melody!!!
Another great thing about Fridays!

if bass is not open note , can i only play bass on fixed position, not movable chord shape, right?
there are many songs , not 1 4 5 chord progress ,likely 16 2 5 ,how do i use thumb technique?
👍👍👍👍👍
What kind of guitar is this??
I got two opposable thumbs and I dunno what to do wit em 🤷♂️
