    Colt great video and interview man!!!! Tyler and the Shakedown is a great band! I feel for him with the stoking guitar. I bought a guitar that was stolen from a reputable store who didn’t know it was stolen because the guitar had traveled different states. I didn’t know it was stolen when I bought it But when I got wind of it worked to make sure the guitarist got his guitar back. The look on his face when he did was all worth it man! Made my musical journey even more worth it!!! That’s a horrible feeling to have your gear stolen. As a musician I couldn’t imagine. Whoever the shop owner was that recognized Tyler Bryant guitar is a fantastic person. We need more people like that in the world 🌎 but also I like what Tyler said: “we showed up on time, we flew comfortably under the radar and we said thank you” Pay attention to that because those 3 things are most important things to do! Tyler is such a great guy!

    love Fender black face amps, but I think most of the sound here was from the rest of signal chain. maybe a Rodenberg drive pedal, haha. and he sounds like a great guy.

    Man! I absolutely love this and could easily be my favorite video of yours. Known of Tyler since I was 15 years old, because of Robert Knight's movie "Rock Prophecies". I watched that and was floored, and Robert ended up coming to Indianapolis and shooting Sadie Johnson and I for the "Brotherhood Of The Guitar" group, which was inspired by Tyler looking for young blues/blues-rock guitar players. Freaking amazing! God bless brother, and great job on this!

    Just a great 18min comparative ! amps opened with also explanations!, a great player and usefull switches..
    But overall the good idea to test the 65amp with the 64cabinet/HP ! everything is said and heard! Thanks😀 . Testing also with a Gibson/humbukers after the Stratocaster would have been perfect according to those strong mediums on the 64 !
    Up to me, without a doubt i choose the 64! save a bit more!,
    -and with the years you'll 'recover' that money:
    And as you said, according to solidity/fiability, the money you'll earn because it's so much easier to repair for a technician, or youself, according also to the kind of damage i had on Fender's Blues Deluxe(still not repaired) / Hot road /Junior/ Peavey Classic..
    And you won't loose that différence of price when/if you'll sell it (easely), the price of those kind of amps won't decrease..
    -playing at the same time with a better sound!. And when you'll have to play a solo, those thick/hot/ present mediums will be so usefull! without putting any pedal, even an original TS-808 (that i still have), that robe you a bit(too much for mr) of clarity/presence, and still modifying the sound at the same time.
    I'm still impatient to test it in a shop, to hear if its 6V6 tubes will still have enough bass/presence compared to 6L6 (amp tubes on Fender 40W and over), when EL84 tubes of the junior don't have enough (compared to the blues deluxe) .

    As a rock/jazz/blues guitarist of nearly 60 years (I'm 71), I'm still hep to young talent. Tyler and the Shakedown are BAD ASS and I love them. The fact that he and Rebecca Lovell of Larkin Poe married in 2019 shows you the guy also knows a good woman, a very MUSICAL woman, when he sees it. Great choice for your video. BTW, my mom bought me a brand-new 1966 Deluxe Reverb back in the day. It wasn't loud enough so it got traded for a used bandmaster. Made sense at the time but I sure wish I had that amp back now. 🙂🙃🙂

    Nice modest attitude, does'nt come across as a big-headed ego-centric Musician. Grateful for the opportunities life has offered, resulting in a thoroughly enjoyable Music experience. I do like that design, I know it's been around for ages but those little extras make that Fender a super versatile Swiss Army knife of a Guitar. Nice job.

    Hurts to hear Spokane on this video for all the wrong reasons. Figures one of the trash dwellers would steal it here of all places. Sad part is gigging is hard in this city exactly for that reason. I'd like to bring one of my nice guitars out but it has the chance of walking away if I step away for a minute. Colt, that Royer mic is certainly delivering the tone and energy of that amp perfectly. Does that mic top your list for the Deluxe Reverb, or are there others that you equally love?

  • @emmanuelarinze2251
    @emmanuelarinze2251 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Felt the same way about this when I first heard about it. The Deluxe Reverb is my favorite amp. I've had more than a bunch of them. From vintage blackfaces to Silverfaces to Reissues to tonemasters to boutique clones and so on. I bought one of these hoping it would end my search for the ultimate DR - a brand new one hand-wired like the old ones and so hopefully more reliable (not that the vintage ones are not reliable if you have a great tech).
    I couldn't get rid of this thing fast enough. I actually took a haircut on it because I hated it so much.
    Why, might you ask? It had a harshness to the tone that I couldn't shake. I tried half a dozen different speakers. I tried rolling tubes. I tried everything but I just could not get the harshness out. I took it to my tech. He said that the circuit change to add the reverb to the second channel was the problem. He offered to return the circuit to the original vintage spec, but for what I paid, it just wasn't worth it so I let it go.
    At the time I had this, I also had a 67blackface, a reissue, and a Tonemaster. I wanted to hear them all in my bedroom to decide once and for all who was the daddy. No prizes for guessing. I made a comparison video of all four which you can find here on YT if you search for Deluxe Reverb Shootout. I kept the vintage amp and sold the rest. The Reissue came in second. I love that amp but it can be difficult to fix if it breaks. Reissues are much heavier and louder than the others. Go figure.
    64 Custom and Tonemaster were cr*p. Audience will never know the difference or care, though. Unless you're playing a small venue like a coffee shop or something where they can really hear the amp, and you're playing a really nice guitar clean. With overdrive and a loud band, no one will know. My $.02.

  • @michellewentworth9862
    @michellewentworth9862 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Sorry Colt, but I think the Fender Blues Deluxe reissue sh**s all over the Deluxe Reverb. The Fender Blues Deluxe reissue has very useable clean and crunch channels, and an effects loop. While the Fender Blues Deluxe has its quirks and many people, myself included, swap out the speaker. I would go Fender Blues Deluxe every time. Feel free to disagree ...

  • @mikeoxley4458

    My first tube amp was a Blackface Fender Deluxe, no Reverb. I plugged my 1964 Fender Stratocaster into it, which I bought in 1972 for $75.00. My older brother got the amp used at a local shop for $100.

    Owning the DRRI, it would be intersting to play through one of these handwired Deluxe Reverb amps. See about perceiving its tonal difference and touch sensitivity. Here in Lubbock Texas, there aren't any to demo. I would have to drive 5 hours just to encounter one

    Do yourself a favor. Go out and buy the Louis Electric Deltone. Take a Deluxe Reverb and now build it perfectlly handwired. Will blow your mind. Makes my original 67 DR sound like nohting side by side. Just sayin '

  • @jjmatashi
    @jjmatashi 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Had one. Couldn't get rid of it fast enough. I really wanted to love it but there was a harshness that I couldn't shake. Tried many speakers, tubes, etc. My amp tech said it was because of the mod to the circuit that allowed reverb on both channels. At the time I also had a '67, a 65 Reissue and a Tonemaster, so I had a chance to compare them all. I spent about 3 months comparing them before I sold the rest and kept the vintage one. This came in 3rd, just ahead of the Tonemaster. The vintage 67 of course came in first, with the Reissue in second place.

    It's good, a great combination, and personally I've always liked his sound and playing.
    But, in truth, there is NO "holy grail" for/of electric guitar recording.
    It depends on the song, the player, the emotion, the message, the feel, the moment.
    Sometimes a Danelectro in a toy plastic amp can be the holy grail for a song, sometimes it can be a Strat in a Marshall stack, sometimes it can be a Les Paul in a wall of amps or in a tiny old combo, sometimes it can be an almost broomstick-like beat up acoustic with missing strings straight into a cheapo mixer or a PA or a China made amp from Amazon.
    Whatever fits, whatever suits the song, whatever makes the player make it sing.
    Big dollars and big names mean nothing and guarantee nothing, in my opinion & experience.

    Great set up. Keep it simple and fantastic. Young man you sound great. Your parents I bet are very Proud of you. Never forget your mother and father. Only three things a man needs to know, where he came from, where he is going, and to whom he must answer. 🎼🎸👍🇺🇸

    I have a vintage ‘65 Deluxe Reverb and A/B’d it with a friend’s reissue. The reissue was fantastic but mine had the magic pixie dust. They are incredible amps.

    Tyler is truly amazing. I have some of his band's music autographed and some of his cool t shirts. I wore one when I met Larkin Poe this year.
    His brother in law Mike Seal is another great guitarist too. Maybe hang with him sometime. ☮️💟🇨🇦
