I had the privilege of working as the studio manager at the Rukkus Room in Berry Hill. Got to see Rob record about a half dozen times. Each session was a clinic from a master. He made the guitar do things I didn’t know a guitar could do. Each riff and tone was always perfect. He is also a hilarious guy and very kind. Yall dive into Rob’s catalogue. He has endless guitar ideas. So happy to see him on this video.
Great interview Rob ! Your honesty and matter of factness, blend perfectly with your witty sarcasm. Love your playing and your tone ! Cheers from Toronto, Canada 🍁
This is the one of the best rundowns ever… covers everything start to finish and Rob was great at explaining why and when he chooses to use each piece of gear. Really fantastic… kudos!
Great rundown, it’s so good listening to real pro players talking about how they ply their trade & demonstrate their the tools they use, a total education & so inspirational!
38:52 "I don't use a lot of gain from pedals..." then pause at 57:09 and see every dirt pedal is set to 50% or higher gain/drive - and that Scarab fuzz is at 100% full on fuzz. 🤣We try to convince ourselves we don't need pedals, and yet... 😁 Great rundown, Premier Guitar! Superb player and a hidden gem.
This was fun and interesting! I never get bored of watching and seeing what other guys are using in their rig! thanks John and PG!!!! You guys are great!!!
Class act and yet another GREAT AND AWESOME RR...damn, Rig Rundowns are one of mankind's top-5 inventions, behind the Les Paul, Telecaster & Stratocaster😅
This may be one of the best rig run downs that you have done. It's like a current backroom secrets to current playing situations that only the pros share with each other.
Great RR with Rob. I like how you guys sorta reminded us that most pedal combinations work best if each pedal you use is in it's "minimum" setting capacity. If you're going to stack things, you need to keep them all in check so they don't fight for attention in the mix. Most new players think "more is better", but that is seldom, if ever, the case. Less is usually more, like in "losing the bass".
WOW Never heard of Rob till now. What a Killer humble talent. John Jorgenson told me about Matchless about 30 years ago, I ordered one the exact same colour❤ Still own it.
Great to see you killing it Rob. If you even see this comment, this is Kitty Hopkins' son Kyle. You may or may not know she passed away in late 2018. She'd be so happy to see your success. Especially the fact that you've been playing with Seger as she was such a huge fan. She took me to see you with the Great Shakes at some small bar in Nipper's corner probably 25 or more years ago and I was so blown away by your playing and have been a fan ever since. I'll definitely have to come check you out next time you're at the Underdog or another local venue. ✌️ Kyle Hopkins.
Another great rig rundown! Love these Nashville ones. But what's up with the bass player hate from JB? ;-) I think he owes us a rig rundown or two from some of Nashville's first call bassists! I want to see some old P basses and Ampegs (or whatever it is they're using there these days).
These Session guys are the Real " Heros " of music as we know it and Love it....and Rob is so Comical without trying to be , Seems like a Fantastic guy and killer player.
Yessir, so glad I ran into this, I did not know of this guy, I recently came to know "Uncle Larry" through his "Homeskoolin'" thing. This guy is fantastic also, cool stories, I love it, thanks John, fantasic as usual
People venerate this current crop of Nashville guitar players while complaining that all of the music coming out of Nashville sucks... I'll just eat my popcorn and look at the cool gear lol
That was a sweet rundown, maybe one of the best! I would love to hear just a little how your interview partners set up their guitars. Relief, action aso. Think that would be interesting to hear, but maybe it‘s just me😅
I've seen Rob 100 times with Jackie Wilson in 2006 and 07 , sat with Robert Plant on my porch on 17th and Charlotte in 2007 , my neighbor was Matt Straw his tech. Blah blah , dealt with Glaser 25 years.
How does he unplug the tube amps and leave them on??? How are they not fritzing out without seeing a load from a cab?? (He’s not using a switching system.) All of his amps, including the deluxe reverb, are running into the Carr in the other room. Help me understand please…
If the amp is on standby, you can unplug the speaker jack without hurting your transformer. I promise, no amps were harmed during the filming of this rig rundown!
Hey there--if you search for me on Apple music, or Spotify, you will find some new music! Dropping more songs after the start of the year... Follow me on socials, and you'll know everything as it happens! Thanks for the interest

Jamie Tate's Rukkus Room?
@@jimwarner1187 Yes. Jamie has retired as of August 2024. Rukkus Room has been taken over by David Dorn and is now called Farm Land studios.
Man keep having your guests play through their gear so we can hear it ! Thank you.
That's the plan!
So great!!! Keep the Nashville session guitarist rig rundowns coming. These guys are so talented, always have killer gear and are super humble.

Every tone was gold! Great player too - great episode
Love his pragmatic attitude and approach! Thanks!
Rob is the coolest - total badaas, but comes across as the most down to earth guy!

Ryan Wariner, and Justin Butler…two amazing guitar slingers. And Justin does amazing work on vintage amps and effects.

"Bass players, shut up and play your note"... LOL! John rules!
Tele story is about as golden as it gets.
Great video .
Killer player and great tones 👍
Love the SV20H. I had my bright cap snipped out entirely and it really was the icing on the cake
Loved it. Learned a lot and going to try a couple of things you are using.
Glad it was helpful!
Very sweet and funny guy.. that known much about classic tones.. and cool skills

One of my all time favourite players,.........
Don't know this dude, but the studio guys always have the best RRs.

awesome video, great guy and a killer musician! when is Guthrie Trapp's one coming out? I think he mentioned it 6 months ago on his channel
6:59 lol, which one has the freshest strings. Very true.
Hey I use 12's and 13's on my strat also!!
This guy's legit!
the pickup in the rubber bridge is most likely a Artec pickup you can get them for like 20 bucks.
I can get u one for 80
Rick uses a Paul Rivera Modified Deluxe Reverb. So did every studio in the 70s. In L.A.

"two tone knobs and none where you need it" FACT!!
Oh I want. The p90 gold top
Does he mention what speaker he’s using? I might have missed it
I think he said WGS 65 watt. WGS's take on the Celestion G12-65.
Yes, it is the WGS ET65. Love that speaker
@@rmcnelley Thanks Rob! Lots of love for that speaker
Rob mentioned that he's been working on an album of his own. When will it be available, and how can we buy a copy? Thanks.

Haha. Wow. I have two cabs with ET-65s and because of their price and somewhat lack of notoriety, I haven’t really given them a fair chance.

That Silvertine sounds really "synth like"!...
First! stoked for this
How does JB look like a giant sitting right next to this man?
What minimalist brand are those shoes?
Blundstones!
29:37 PLEASE get Ryan on!!
"enbiggenate" lol
Hunter S. Thompson and Bill Burr had a child?
Proof that great & really cool guitarists can contribute to some of the worst country music ever made. It's a paycheck.
There's some pretty terrible country music on the radio these days, but it's not all bad everywhere else. There's always been both.
