    18:03 "I find that there is some confusion about these...." (proceeds to add to the confusion).
    Andy, the Bass VI is actually a bass. Tuned to the same octave as a normal bass with the addition of a B string and a high E string. The instrument is tuned 1 octave below standard guitar tuning, the same range as a normal bass guitar, but with an extended higher range and shorter than normal scale length (30").

  • @alexoflewes1646
    @alexoflewes1646 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

    Enjoyed the review of the Bass VI, but want to stress the info about the octave it's in is wrong. The low E on a regular guitar is about 83hz, for a bass it's just one octave lower at about 41hz (two octaves lower would be more felt than heard). The Bass VI is also 41hz. It is a bass, with the same scale length as a short scale bass. It will sound different than say a P or Jazz bass due to different strings, pickups, and especially if it's played through a guitar instead of bass amp. It's an incredibly versatile instrument.

    I ended up grabbing the Bass VI in Lake Placid Blue and I'm so glad I did it. I had a Squier one that I was about to upgrade with a mute, some Curtis Novak pickups and an AVRI trem, and these things leaked... so I held off and sold the Squier. The pickups that come with the Vintera II are pretty darn nice, nice enough that I think I wouldn't have upgraded them if I hadn't already bought the pickups, lol. I got the pickups in with some LaBella flat wounds and it's so much fun to play.
    I always love your reviews, and then of course I could listen to Cooper play guitar all day, so I always stick around for that.

    I've got a Vintera (I) and it's supposed to have "Pau Ferro" (Honduran rosewood) but it's absolutely indistinguishable from the rosewood on any of my other guitars. Either the factory accidentally put rosewood on, (doubtful) or it's just a very dark example of PF. In either case, it's indistinguishable from rosewood and I'm tickled pink.
    I will say, however, that the pickups on the 60s vintera sound quite thin to my ears. They're not very "full" if you know what I mean. That's fine some of the time and I guess it's why we have more than one guitar! Is that how they really were in the 60s? I don't know to be honest.

    If they made a modified version of the olympic white with the truss rod on the top side the guitar would be a killer. I know it is the vintage spec but the truss rod on the heel is really inconvenient if you adjust a lot.

      That would require some thought. IIRC, the first bender was made in 67 or 68, in a 54 guitar...what era would you put it in? A 4 string ‘is a lower octave than a Bass VI’⁉️ A Bass VI ‘is not a bass guitar’? If he was still alive, perhaps you could explain that to Jack Bruce in his Manfred Mann and Cream era‼️
    The bottom EADG string on a Bass VI are, effectively, the same strings as those on a Precision or Jazz - the Bass VI is tuned EADGBe - i.e. everything one octave down from a ‘conventional’ 6-string guitar tuning - as opposed to the (usual tunings of) BEADG of a modern 5 string, and BEADGC of a modern 6 string bass.
    In ALL those cases the lowest E is the SAME octave note.
    Research… a wondrous thing.
    Oh, and Vintera II Strats have a 5, not 3, way p/u switch; as well as, what appears on screen at least as, reddish (as opposed to the ‘vintage correct’ VERY yellow) ‘burst centres, which just looks weird.
