Thank you for this video. I almost got scammed about two weeks ago but luckily, it didn't happen. What had happened was I had bought a basic printer online. I had trouble connecting the wireless printer to my laptop. So I googled the Canon website looking for some troubleshooting help so that I could figure out what went wrong. So I clicked on a link that looked like Canon's link but it wasn't. Then this window popped up and it said call tech support for installation help. So I call the number and this person who claimed to be a technician answers the phone offering to install the printer. So then he says to me that I would have to allow him to log into my computer remotely to fix the problem. So I was like 🤔 if I allow you into my computer you will have access to all of my private information. Uh...I don't feel comfortable doing that. Oh and by the way, is this going to cost me any money? He said yes there is an installation fee of $90.00. I said "oh hell no, I only paid $40.00 for this printer. No thank you, click and I hung up. I don't know if this guy was legitimate or an actual scammer. In any event, I was not allowing anyone to have remote access into my laptop and you shouldn't either!
Walmart and Krogers have already tackled this self checkout part. I can't say for sure every store but the ones in my area have screens that show up after every checkout saying that that register is open. Also, there is a time limit on transactions that only lasts like 30 seconds before it brings up a prompt asking if you want to continue
Somebody told me never to use to self checker because if they made a mistake you might end up going to court. They might accuse you of stealing but if the cashier check you out such a thing cannot happen.
There is a twist to the PayPal scam to watch out for. Don't call the phone number in the email for more information. The phone number is for the scammer, not PayPal and it will turn into a refund scam. How they sneak this into a legit PayPal email is that there is a "seller comment" section in the invoice. I called PayPal using a legit phone number, not the one in the email, and they confirmed it is a legit PayPal email but that any "seller" can issue an invoice to anyone.

Don't think this won't happen to you! That first scam was attempted on me, except it was that my niece was arrested and needed money and didn't want her mother to know. They knew a few facts about her- her name and where she lived- so it was creepy AF. They didn't spoof her voice, so I was suspicious (after the initial "freak out"). Luckily, I figured it out, called my niece and realized it was a scam. Thanks for this video, will share!

Virtual Kidnapping is quite common scam over here in Brazil. And that's without any spoofing, just by random call to pretende as a familiar is in despair call from random number and then the "kidnapper" takes in the call
The kidnap scam was actually extremely poular in asia around 2010's. It happened to almost everyone and because of that scam, a ton of civilians lost literally hundreds of thousands of dollars. The scam were targeted on the poor, and it happened to someone i was close to. She wasn't able to call her son while he was working to confirm that he was okay, but her son was working and wasn't able to pick up the phone, so she lost around $200 USD. It sucked but she was one of the lucky ones. Someone lost around $20K USD from that scam.
Oh man, gotta call last year about my daughter in a car accident. ran out a store, jump in my car.. And the conversation was kind of BS as i asked . had me worked up, started questioning.. Then doubting as I headed home instead of the bank as he wanted me to... and loaded up. And told him I'd meet him, give him all the money he wanted in person.... That conversation situation petered out.. But I was so looking forward to meeting the 2 people on the phone. God Bless this Country, laws we have.. Protect yourselves and people you Love.. especially from Is these crooks. hopefully many of them get what's coming to him
As for one time password stealing, it's as simple as this: never give anyone a 2 factor authentication code that you receive (or one that shows up in an app you did set up) unless you yourself login somewhere where it is asking for one that is either send to you or shows up in an app you did set up
Just hang up the call without saying anything as if the connection were lost and, if they call back, don't answer. Use other communication methods to contact your "affected family member".
Crazy how scammers just keep getting better at scamming and their scams continue to become more sophisticated. Now so many people are becoming more vulnerable to scams
India needs some Columbine with a side of Timothy McVeigh / Ramzi Yousef 'activities' across their country. Most of the scam call centers in India are in buildings that have poor build quality and few emergency exits. A truck b0mb with 750 - 1,000 lb of EPX-1 and TATP parked up against one of these scam call center buildings would be sufficient to topple the building. PS as a side note, NONE of these buildings are guarded by strong security measures.
Ever heard of texts that just say “hey remember me?” Or “why haven’t you text me back?” I get those a lot from random numbers and I never respond. Just curious
I got scam on line. It's on line investment, now they are threatening that police will pick me up and take me to court because I owe them money unless I pay insurance fee and late fee.
Good practice is whenever you get a call from a bank etc is to make the excuse there's someone at the door, can I call back? Then you call your actual bank to see if it was a legit call. Same goes for bank emails. Call your branch to see if legit before opening. Once you open on your phone, you're vulnerable.
Most of the time if someone's internet security gets compromised, it's because of there own carelessness. It's good that someone is educating about this stuff, so that they can stay aware and careful
well you can't blame most people for falling for scams or hackers, since those scammers/ hackers are people that spent most of their life learning social engineering and perfecting their craft, while the victims are usually people that are busy doing jobs that aren't related to IT. it's only the fault of the victim if such a victim was someone who works in IT fields or a nerd who really knows a lot about IT
In a way yes. Part of it most consumer modems etc are made without security being a main factor if a factor at all. And most people are not tech savvy enough to do anything to protect themselves like an IT pro can. Just the basic changing your router default name and password goes a long way. But even that is beyond the reach of some people.
I have gotten so many phone calls regarding the student loan forgiveness. I have told them either I don't believe in them and hang up or have told them I have already applied for the forgiveness process, and they hang up on me. I get these calls almost daily. Another comment is when I tell them I am 100% disabled, and they say that they can't help me. Dead tale sign they are scammers.
Thanks to people like Joe who help inform the public of these scams. What is not good is that governments and police forces don't seem to be doing all that much to help. They may churn out some helpful information, but you don't see many reports of prosecutions of these criminals or the mass media just finds it boring, or something.

Lost 3k for some stupid golden chain, but then after phoning the store, a convenience store (because they also tried getting gift cards) nearby AND the cops AAAAND filing a fraud report, I got my money back. The money was not lost. The chain was not purchased with my money. Got a call some days after from an angry man, he probably got caught red-handed :)

Good stuff. The most common scam I see here on youtube is in the comments on financial videos (which I watch a lot of). It may be a legit vid but then someone will comment how they have some money to invest but don't know who they can trust. That's the setup. Then there will be a bunch of responses where people say that they were helped by so and so and made a ton of money, and that you can be sure that if you follow so and so's advice you'll make money too. It seems so obvious that no one would fall for it but it must be working if scammers keep doing it. You can research any kind of investment easily using the internt - and then go through legit big name companies to make your investment. No you won't get rich quick but your money will be relatively safe. If someone says they have 'inside information' that will make you rich, or they have an 'inside track' to a company that's about to bust out ... beware.

The screen should revert to a blank screen with one message: START SCANNING. If the screen isn't blank, there is a problem.
@@yellowbird5411 they time out and go to a welcome screen or start scanning screen where I live
I called PayPal using a legit phone number, not the one in the email, and they confirmed it is a legit PayPal email but that any "seller" can issue an invoice to anyone.
i got a series of those "grandpa calls " - my grandson was about 3 years old -- a while back and I had a lot of fun giving them all sorts of fun answers. Like -"You deserve to be in jail", Call your sister as she is a millionaire and can pay (she is 1year old) . etc. LOL
Thank you!
The kidnapping scam is very common in Mexico and has been for at least 15 years
Thanks Joe. You have no idea how many times you have helped me avoid these types of people. I am an avid subscriber.
I always look forward to this video Thio! Unfortunately, scammers are gonna always look for new ways to scam. So, it's better to take some time to learn about these scams.
I did not even know these new scams existed wow. Thnx so much an keep sharing ur knowledge 🙏
One of the all-time greatest *Scam alert* vids! You, Sir, are not just a National Treasure, you're an INTERNATIONAL Treasure! The whole law-abiding world should be trying to find a way to get in touch with you just to send you a little donation and say thank you for working so hard at watching out for our interests. *Adriannotch* I hope you
enjoy putting your recovery’s work together as much as most of us enjoy watching you do it. Thanks man.
Great video! Scammers think of new and creative ways to trick unsuspecting victims every year. We deal with cases like this all the time and and there's always something new we see.
Channels like yours are amazing and really needed!!
⭐⭐⭐ Thanks for making these! They help my grandmother - to a degree. She's 93, so a lot can go over her head, but they can still help her!
My 92 year old mum got one of those,, text through whattap saying it was me, that i needed money as id lost my phone!!! She said she thought about it,, and worked out it could not be right..... yay,,, she's learning 😀
You’re awesome!!! Thank you 😊
Thanks for making videos like this. You're doing the lord's work my guy.
I believe I have watched all of your videos concerning scams that one should be aware of.
Really appreciate these videos,
Thanks!
Virtual Kidnapping is quite common scam over here in Brazil. And that's without any spoofing, just by random call to pretende as a familiar is in despair call from random number and then the "kidnapper" takes in the call
Truth. Also never let them record your voice saying YES for anything and I don't hang up cuz they get charged for the call. Thanks Joe 😊
Always enjoy your uploads. Both entertaining and informative.
Thank you for raising awareness
Sadly true. Earlier scams were often so badly thought out you could easily see through them
yea they can be very vomitive
A lawyer even pretended to be a cat 2 years ago 🤔 btw i am not a real cat.
This is why IG and FB are bad. Openly exposing yourself for a few validation
Thank you! This explains why lately I been getting calls telling me they got a call from me.
Scam #1 - haha, all my family is dead, good luck pretending someone in my family is kidnapped, that would be an interesting phone call.
Good practice is whenever you get a call from a bank etc is to make the excuse there's someone at the door, can I call back? Then you call your actual bank to see if it was a legit call. Same goes for bank emails. Call your branch to see if legit before opening. Once you open on your phone, you're vulnerable.
Now I have even more reason to avoid the self checkout at the shops...
Thanks so much for a help and awareness info! Seemed like more and more bad guys now than ever 🙏💞
I keep getting messages that my pay pal account is been hack and I need to take action immediately..I dont have a pay pal account
I remember a time when scammers weren't as clever ...or maybe I was just egotistical and have been humbled by watching your videos on the topic, lol
Thanks for the information.
Africa doesnt allow any other country to interfere in their country or it could start a war and as africa has no oil or resources anyone wants they dont find the efforts worth their efforts. Also mind they still receive the taxes on money sent across seas so its a win for the US government as well.
I just got scammed by someone claiming to be with my bank. They used the same number as my banks customer service line. I got played hard. I called the actual banks customer service and they said it should take 10 business days for it to resolve. They took all of my money (which thankfully wasn’t much)
Still don’t understand why these scammers are so smart yet do not use that to get themselves a real job that pays well…
Cause they dont want to work, easy money from home
Thanks
Thanks to you too! 🙏
Last year I fell for the one time password thing.
We may not all speak the same language or carry the same scars, but we all feel love, heartbreak, and sadness. I send love and light out to all sentient beings who need healing and love. May this video bring you soulful love, abundant joy, and meaningful happiness. You are loved, you are needed and you are a blessing upon this earth
The work he does is so vital the world needs more people like you I just love the podcast so you put up I love hearing these scammers squirm keep up the good work, it takes good hearted individuals the gutts to do this instead. There should be whole government department buildings filled with *ApexDeft* doing stuff like this to protect and serve its own scammed civilians . That would be tax money well spent.
Thank you for being out there!
Don't forget about the threatening text message with suspicious website links from random and unknown phone number scam that have started recently.
And also the fake emails impersonating companies like Amazon.
@@sorbetkidyoutube - I've gotten quite a few of those fake emails myself.
@@neopagan1976 which email provider do you use? With Gmail I got zero such messages in like 10+ years.
Its always weird to me when people mention they get spam emails, while I've practically never seen them.
Thanks! Love your voice, information & presentations
Got a text from what seemed to be my Real Estate broker (I'm a Realtor) The text header showed my Broker's name. Broker: "Do you have a moment to chat?" I'm thinking, oh crap I must have really screwed up if my Broker is reaching out to me! Me: "Sure." Broker: "Will you urgently go to he store and pick me up some gift cards?" I blocked the number after that. The scammer had texted all 70 plus Realtors that we're under the brokers license!
Thank you. I am more aware now.
These scams are getting worse every single year
I just shared with friends and family. Thank you!
Keep up the great work *Briskdeft* , and never get down about what you do. These scum are responsible not you. So keep your head up regardless of what happens.
You keep saving people all the time, so just remember those you have already saved it you ever get down. Love your channel and always stay positive.*️⃣🙌🏽😊
Thanks For Informing Us On The Latest Scams To Protect Our Family ThioJoe
These bastards should go to hell.
Thank you for such vital information!!
There is a scam out there where they ask you to download an authenticar application that requires your user ID and password. They use that to open an account for you on a video service website. They send you your user ID and password and tell you it is paid for. When you login They charge you $39.95. The lady on the customer service number sounded from India but they tell you they are in Florida.
Links: the best thing you can do is avoid clicking links you do not reconize anywhere, whether is is in an email, from a friend or acquaintance or anywhere.
Thank you for the heads up, I think theirs ones that email you saying they want to help you become an extra for a movie, show, or commercial. I even ghosted them thinking they'll stop. But they still keep sending me interview times.
It's funny I've gotten the Student Loan forgiveness scam call and I'm like I don't have any Student loan debt
Hi ..I moved last year and in trying to get estimates I ran into alot of fake /scammers...tell you they don't need to see your property..just do truck size etc .and they want deposit up front to set up for the move...then take money and there not real..hear it's big..I was super picky and wouldn't deal with anyone who didn't come look and have a company I could look up and do reviews etc..and I didn't give up front money..
Because of you and all the guys that work for you. Also your channel people are catching-on.Thank you and everyone involved people are catching on. Eccellent video my dude
thio, you're a modern-age saint.
This virtual kidnapping is a very old scam in Brazil, we are so used to that, most don't fall for it anymore.
Thank You Very Much For All You Do Here Man! Appreciate What Ya Do Here! Very Very Much! I Feel So Bad For All The Elderly Folks That Have This Crap Done To Them By These Spineless Chumps! The Damn Thought Of All The People This Happens To Everyday Just Sickens Me Horribly! Keep On Doing What Your Doing *Adriannotch* ! Great information!!
as an Italian I can confirm that that option that makes your voice in Italian is the voice of the documentaries that my grandmother sees I hope youtube improves it anyway this makes me laugh too much
Sono abbastanza spaventato di sta cosa, ma è una funzione di nuova di youtube?
Thank you for making this video. This is important!
thank you for teaching us this
12:33 For the safe exchange zones, I am betting that a scammer will put up fake “safe” exchange zone signs up in random places.
Please be aware of this everyone.
Fair ... I'm not even sure we got en yet over here so it gives opportunities ....
thank you for this. it’s great to know.
I really like your “Stock Video Searched _____” captions!
Idk if he reads the comments on any of these still
but your skills is amazing and what you're doing is just so wonderful *Adriannotch*. You'e putting so much good into the world. Also seeing Rob receive $40000 back to fix his truck reminded me of one time when I had a flat tire and basically no money but someone just randomly gave me $50. I didn't talk to him or anything he just came up and gave it to me. Stuff like this just shows that when you put good into the world good things will happen to you.
特别喜欢你的多国语言配音,太贴心了!

One of my coworkers got a call claiming they had his daughter and were demanding a ransom before they would return her. The thing is that my coworker doesn't have a daughter. When he asked the person which daughter they had, because last he checked he didn't have one, they just hung up on him. He called the police about it, and they were the ones who told my coworker about the scam.
Scams can happen to anybody at any time. Let's be careful out there. Cheers!
If someone says they have 'inside information' that will make you rich, or they have an 'inside track' to a company that's about to bust out ... beware.
I am in need of your help for the wallets addresses...could you provide a medium to discuss in particular?
