Awesome, I love switching videos ! The locomotive weathering and old school bell along with sectional rail is really cool. Great choice in trucks with the Ram! Awesome channel

Kenny, the high cube boxcars had the tops painted white cause alot of the double main tracks had certain restrictions that required trains to operate on a certain track through tunnels so they started using the white paint cause it stuck out and it was to prevent it from getting placed in the wrong train but your also right about the added capacity…most of your tunnels today are single track and ctc operated…ms~~~

This line is a remnant of a railroad known as The Milwaukee Lakeshore and Western. The remnants of the right-of-way can be seen in placess along Highway 10 on the way to Manitowoc and used to cross The Milwaukee Road at Forest Junction.
On the other end the same main line ran all the way to New London, Clintonville, Eland, Antigo, Pelican Lake, and eventually Ashland.
Under the College Avenue bridge this line has one of the steepest grades in Wisconsin. Back in C&NW days you should have heard old GP-7' with pulpwood cars bark to get up that grade to where that steam locomotive is displayed.

The line continued to Downtown KAUKAUNA and about where the fire station and Pizza Hut are located at one time there was a HUGE roundhouse and car shops.
When I was in High School the CNW switch crew that serviced the paper mills would park on the remnants of the yard and "go to beans" at a local cafe which was at Main and 2nd street.

Love watching the switch action. Green Bay has a lot of industrial 🏭 and been there a few times to load dry vans back in the day.

I grew up in this town in the sixties. At that time there was a golf course just across the road and you should be standing very close to the lox club restaurant, one of the best in the fox valley.

Wisconsin Central is a subsidiary of Canadian National since 2001. CN 4775 is a EMD GP38-2W built 11/26/2009. 12 years old and looking so sad.

C.N. merged the W.C.L. in 2001, that gave them the Pan-American Route, from North to South, and from Hearst, Ontario and the Algoma Central RR, and the SOO LINE Section from Sault Sainte Marie in a South-Westerly direction to Escanaba, MI., and many small branch lines in the Upper Peninsula. At Escanaba to South they got the former C&NW. ORE LINE and Marinette Sub to Green Bay. But when the CN ARRIVED IN CHICAGO, THEY GOT THE ENTIRE ILLINOIS CRNTRAL SOUTH TO NEW ORLEANS, THUS COMBINING THE OLD PASSENGER ROUTES OF THE "CITY OF NEW ORLEANS", AND THE "PENINSULA 400", AND THE "LAKER", AND THE "AGAWA CANYON SNOW TRAIN", THUS THEORETICALLY POSSIBLE TO RUN A VERY LONG EXCURSION FOR PACKER FOOTBALL FANS TO GET ONBOARD IN UPPER MICHIGAN AND GO SOUTH TO NEW ORLEANS!!!!! BUT, C.N. HAS RESTRICTIONS FOR EXCURSIONS SO MAYBE PERHAPS SOMEDAY THIS EXCURSION MIGHT RUN!!!!! And also the western section of SOO to Pembine, Crandon, and Rhinelander, but 2 different subs, 1 to Ashland; and 1 to Duluth, and formerly the Minneapolis sub but much track was abandoned and ripped off to make Nature trails. From Green Bay to South they got all 3 Routes with the 2 CNW route, with South to Neenah, Fonddulac, West Bend to Milwaukee but abandoned at West Bend that cut off the Amtrak Direct route to Milwaukee but not going through the small farm towns like Byron, LOMIRA, Slinger, Duplainville, and Antioch that joins the Metra commuter route but is busy and crowded with freight trains. The other CNW line went East to Manitowoc then South to Sheboygan and Milwaukee, and in the early 1980s was the CNW MAIN LINE with heavy freight at express Speeds of 70 m.p.h. because it was equipped with semaphore signals and also carried unit trains if iron ore and taconite from Upper Michigan, and also unit Coal trains for the Green Bay Pulliam power plant that came from the Union Pacific and the Powder River coal basin in Wyoming with W.P.S. using 3 sets of dedicated new Coal hoppers, and their Alco S-1 diesel switcher. Lastly was THE MILWAUKEE ROAD and their Superior Division that offered the direct line from Chicago to Upper Michigan with classic passenger trains like the Chippewa until 1963 to Ontonogan; and the Copper Country Limited to the Keeweenaw Peninsula and Houghton-Hancock through a connection at the SOO LINE junction. But the Milwaukee Road went Bankrupt in 1986 and was sold in pieces to many other railroads, and even earlier in 1980 the Northern Section was sold to the E&LS RR SHORTLINE that greatly expanded it's mileage and has faithfully served for the past 43 years as if 2022. The ELS also tried to get the Southern section to have it's own continuous route South, but sadly the track from Green Bay South to Allouez, and Hilbert was ripped off for a trail. But sadly again, the various state agencies Missed the Primary Opportunity to make the newest Excursion Train with a historic Trolley car for Heritage Hill Park with historic buildings and the Trolley to transport visitors back "in time" so to speak on the shuttle run between Downtown Green Bay, and Voyager Park next to the locks and dam on the Fox 🦊 River. Plus in the fall with Autumn Colors trains; and in Winters during football season there might have been football excursions for fans of both Packers, and Bear's 🐻!!!!! and also an Evening Dinner Train with farm fresh food!! And by checking the lists of many RR Museums I found many different types of Diesels and passenger cars with coaches and diners so we can recreate Exactly the M.R. trains from both the CHIPPEWA, AND THE FAMOUS HIAWATHA!!!!! SAT., JULY 15, 2022, A.D. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.!!!!! GLORY ALLELUIA!!!!! AMEN!!!!!

nice GP 40-2W The W stands for wide cab, looks like they're pulling the loaded ones from the loading dock then takng the empties and placing them back inside the loading dock, the taller cars carry the paper rolls the standard size boxcars could be also empty or loaded with market pulp used to make the paper with.
