The Agency season one episode one brings me here. Anyone else?
Me!
Here
And me!
Yes, because I wasn't aware the U2 original had been redone.
Yes just to see who the shitty singer was...never heard such narcissistic vocal posturing...
This is song is ridiculously awesome
I love all the feeling that Jack White puts into this melody, you can feel all the desperation, all the emptiness, all the deception, all the love and pain. I love how this man interprets all this bomb of emotions.
Thank you to "The Agency" for making me come here. Jack White through his voice beautifully brings all the pain that love offers
Same
Oh yeah
I first heard it as part of Peaky Blinders soundtrack. I like this version better than U2
@@DanielleVallone Yes! Jack White gives so much tormented feeling with his voice
Never heard this til tonight on The Agency and I'm a big fan of Jack White, had no idea this was him at first and well now I know why I just to look it up and find out. Wow I should of known this is just another reason I find myself a big fan of Jack White, excellent.
All these notes and lyrics are a single piece of a broken glass and stab me in the heart. It’s bleeding and I started to lose my hope that it would stop.
Jack's translation of this song is spot on. There's something so lovely about the way he suffers.
The agency show runners: “it’s a spy show and we need a James Bond intro like mothafuuuuu” I love it
This version, I love it. Anger, frantic, searching, longing, desperate, slightly panicked, all overshadowed by pain- well delivered through his vocals and instrumental. That instrumental combination is steady, discordant, intentional, all over the place, but in sync. It just works
It's the perfect song to watch a crime scene happen to.
@@theannoyingdahg crime done by a person who loved
❤
This comment struck me
"I'm so sick of it" line ripped me to shreds. Phenomenal voice
Always come back to this in the times I truly need 😅 sad but true ,, music is my therapy ,,
Love this song...and Jack's voice!!!
You 2?
Same!
Jack's ruined a great song...
When Jack White did his rendition of Love is Blindness why wasn't he crowned King of SOMETHING !!?? It is perfection.
I honestly don't understand why people criticize this soundtrack for "not being Gatsby enough". Did you think Luhrmann actually believed that rock, rap, and pop was played in the roaring 20's? Of course not! Therefore, it must serve an ulterior cinematic purpose. In this film, the music is used to connect to a younger audience. Would kids really feel like they're at a party when jazz is playing? Probably not. Would jazz evoke the same pained emotions as a lyric song would to kids? Once again, probably not. He wants the audience to feel the mood of the era, but the way he can convey those emotions is through familiarity of genre
probably they have never seen Romeo+Juliet or Moulin Rouge ;) this is his signature
+Taylor Shellman Very true. I was hoping someone else would get it
+Taylor Shellman $$$$$$$$$ is the motive, dude, always, music is still great, movie sucked!
Taylor Shellman only idiots don't know that!
Because plot
"Love is blindness
I don't wanna see
Won't you wrap the night
Around me?
Oh my heart
Love is blindness
In a parked car
In a crowded street
You see your love
Made complete
Thread is ripping
The knot is slipping
Love is blindness
Love is clockworks
And cold steel
Fingers too numb to feel
Squeeze the handle
Blow out the candle
Love is blindness
Love is blindness
I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night
Around me?
Oh my love
Blindness
A little death
Without mourning
No call
And no warning
Baby, a dangerous idea
That almost makes sense
Love is drowning
In a deep well
All the secrets
And no one to tell
Take the money honey
Blindness
Love is blindness
I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night
Around me?
Oh my love
Blindness..."
Come on..., there is no need to compare versions. This one is great. Has its own strenght and character...But the U2 original is the best song EVER with the best guitar EVER!!! Has an unmatched mood...
I think they compare both versions because neither of them have the same mood. see, they're comparing how it should be sung. U2's version is very slow as if reminiscing but this version is more intense and, powerful, angry.though both versions are incredible.
I should learn how to stop imitating Jack's singing, my grandma thought I was having a nervous breakdown.
Lmfaooo
Omg 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lmaooo I can totally picture that
😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣
Wow. Just...WOW. I'm a huge 90's Bono/U2 fan and only found this cover today - massively love the original, but man, does this cover EVER do it justice. That is a very, very rare thing. Blown away by the emotion and power in the vocals. So intense.
🔥
This version fitted the movie beautifully.
"fit" ;)
What an amazing version of the U2 epic.
Devasting lyrics "Oh, I'm too numb to feel. Blow out the candle. Blindness."
I wish I could unearth such a feeling - into words. !
Love is Blindness. OMG
jack white is one of the only artists left who really, truly, seriously creates music
The Agency rocks, this musics rules!
You can hear the emotion in his voice, damn
Jack White is simply phenomenal at conveying emotions through music, that’s why they call him a musical genius.
@@rickdb8480 Musical genius never..
@@Mysterywhiteboy78 he is a genus. Case closed
@@popestarz Case very much open. .. Bach was a genius. Jack White is a Led Zeppelin copyist...
I would never say Led Zep copyist. But he was really good when it was just him and Meg, after. Meh.
Woo hooo... what a sexy track indeed!!! Great take on U2's version!!
Great show. Awesome track.
Jack White is such an amazing talent. He's so much more versatile than I ever thought possible. Can't wait to hear what's next for him♥️
As long as Jack White is around, rock will not be dead. Not for any generation.
no one has a voice like this brilliant man. i love jack white's voice.
I just started reading the Great Gatsby like 15 minutes ago. I can already tell it's a favorite.
This is one of my favorite covers ever. Probably the best U2 cover I have ever heard.
This cover is too brilliant for words! Jack White manages to evoke so many emotions into this song, it leaves one speechless!! What a talented person!!
I would pay INSUFFERABLE amounts of money to have Jack play this live someday my god
Got to see it firsthand in all of its mother fucking glory last night.
Good news, you don't have to. He apparently performed it a few months ago.
th-cam.com/video/1XN4r3vKSZk/w-d-xo.html
He finally did
Yes please
💯
This is one of the greatest covers of all time
Браво!!! Сериал "Агентство" открыл для меня этот шедевр.
As a U2 fan since Unforgettable Fire in 1984(yes I am old), this is the only cover of any of their songs that in my opinion elevated the track. I absolutely love the fact that Jack had the balls to take this song apart, lay all the pieces on the table, put it back together, and make it feel unmistakably like his original work while somehow still tipping his hat to the original. Hardly anyone is capable of doing that effectively. He nailed this. The first time I heard this cover was in a movie theater in the trailer for Great Gatsby. I bought the album while I was still sitting in the movie theater.
Haunting. Brilliant. In your face. A transported force from the past.
Daaamn... I grew up with U2 but this is brilliant in it's own. I can see Bono Zoo TV style lifting his arms and balancing on one leg slightly bent backward freaking out to this version. Especially at the bit at 'a little death without warning..' Wooow deeply impressed love this.
I love the heart wrenching, tortured ecstasy of Jack's rendition of this song, both his vocals and that guitar solo that sounds like it wants to tear out of his soul but he just manages to contain and steer to its emotional release!
I have NEVER been a fan of Jack. This is worthy, and then some. I'm sure The Edge is damn proud.
The Great Gatsby - Peaky Blinders - The Agency! Well done :-) !!!!
This song is so visceral and raw, I literally have goosebumps
the whole gatsby soundtrack is perfect
Everything Jack White does is EXCELLENT.
Je n'aimais pas accroché sur le film .Mais grace à cette voix et cette chanson, j'ai revu le film.
Et j'ai pas retrouvé ce morceau criant puissant.
J'adore être surpris, j'adore la musique qui vient de partout
This is so rock and roll. I am glad it is still around. When this plays in my car I just want to scream so loud I break glass. Jack is a mad man
If you seen the great Gatsby there's another way to break the glass
The sheer pain you feel in his voice is just incredible!
Yeah me too. It is a creepy, scary, spooky song - but true. I've been blind for 34 years...
My favourite U2 song blown out of the water... fair play to you Jack.
This song is amazing. Thank the Lord for Jack White. My God this song gave me chills!
Totally underrated version of this song; so badass.
This version sounds angry and bitter. U2's version sounds sad and full of despair. I'm a huge U2 fan and this cover does it justice. I like them equally, just depends on my mood which version I like more at that given time.
Agreed. I think this version and the Edges acoustic performance (if you haven't seen that go watch it) are tied
The U2 version also fits into the context of the album better. To be honest, if you are into lyrics, this song is supposed to be a downer...If you don't like to pay attention to lyrics, that might not matter.
***** фамилия у тебе смешная
Дмитрий Вахрушев I don't know what that says
The opinions divide. The fact is that it is as brilliant as the original!
I totally agree with you!!
I don't understand the discord. As a fan of both artists, this is what art is about. I love both versions. They each portray love in its multitude of forms: quiet obsession, self illusion, frenetic confusion and tragic conclusions. How can you not appreciate it all???
Perhaps one of my favorite covers ever 🤍
Thank you Jack White, with your red, white, and black outfits an' awesome voice.
yeah in 1999-2007 xD
THINCOVER Still, man.
well he no longer wears red
THINCOVER
who cares?
Gabriel Veronez don't be so rude
I loved it in The Great Gatsby, I love it in The Agency
Jack White is awesome.
awesome is an understatement and you know that !!!!
I like this better than the U2 original. Thank you The Agency
Ace version! Just love to hear him squeal...🖤
I love both versions of this song. A good cover takes the song somewhere else, and Jack certainly does that.
Сильно! Сейчас 2023, я всё ещё здесь и считаю, что это круто!!!
by far, the best song from this soundtrack
whole soundtrack from peaky blinders is awesome but yeah this song is the best
+Kasiak I think they meant the great gatsby's soundtrack, not peaky blinders :/
Angharad Williams yup, i meaned gatsby
haha also the while Gatsby's soundtrack is great but yeah this is the best song and yeah it had great competitors
EleDe Erre The ONLY song from the soundtrack. 😅
With this cover Jack caught all the essence of the original desperation of the U2's song. Great interpretation and haunted voice/guitar!
Could this man's voice sound more amazing? Dang! cannot get enough of this song..
The Agency rocks…. Fassbender…. Fkn awesome cover
When this song started playing in great gatsby I got chills
Right? Its so great
I actually stoop up from my seat
IsaiahLedz I totally agree with you but I still think that the song as a whole could have been better. There are catastrophically bad parts in the song.
Niklas Engberg Examples? This is motherfuckin' Jack White, man. He doesn't do "catastrophically bad", everything in his songs is what he intends.
Omninick1 1:20-2:00 and 2:34-2:50 are the ''catastrophically bad parts'' as I called them. I admit that I probably exaggerated a bit here. I just think these parts could have been so much better. They're too noisy and scrappy in my opinion.
This is perfection, jack is insanely talented
One of the greatest tunes U2 ever produced, jack white didn't do it any harm at all
Jack white is absolutely incredible!!
So emotional! Best cover of this song ever!
This song is so wonderfully disturbing. I love it.
The Agency lives on!
I like both versions. Where U2 has the edge (no pun intended) is that they can write the deep lyrics and Jack White, as talented as he is, hasn't achieved that depth yet.
So catchy! Help me please to get rid of this song. I keep listening to it non-stop. It's already building new DNA in me.
I love the emotions behind this cover. Touching me right in the soul at this moment in my life.
Jared Blackout wow that was poetic written, had to screenshot
I'm glad you have enjoyed my comment. Have a nice day. :)
Jared Blackout Have a nice day u too☺️
This song will always remind me of Peaky Blinders, I love that masterpiece
Muzio Mattia Coppola just started watching. I went through two seasons in three days. fucking great show
self induced coma I know, right?? It's a masterpiece!
self induced coma jhhiiiioiijhvbvbjioio
self induced coma kop
this is a u2 song xd
Stunning. I'm a U2 fan and only found this cover version today (the U2 version was my first dance at my wedding!) - so though of course I love the original, this cover so does it justice, an incredible reinterpretation, for a different mood, and I must say as good as the original - if this had come out first, it would be critically well-received. And what emotion and power in his vocals to boot. Stunning.
I loved this cover to bits since the beginning, but now, after actually having seen the movie itself, I think there could not have been any other song that fits it the most. Jack has PERFECTLY represented distress in this song, thanks to his desperately angry voice and his sick guitar solo (sick meaning simultaneously cool and suffering)
This song is intense. Gets me every time.
this song is just pure genius.
LOVE this version. Jack White is a music god.
Ask every karaoke bar in town if they have this song: What's that? Yeah,JACK.
Most of the people have no idea how the song was actually written by the band U2 and what the band was going through...their guitarist Edge wrote the song when his marriage broke off(you can feel it in edge's guitar work on the real song).....i LOVE U2 and i LOVE Jack white but i hate people who don't know what they are talking about.!!
there could not be a more perfect song for great Gatsby.
It's true. Love is blindness. It's also pain. One of the most painful internal feelings.
Such a great song...
Bono and the lads excelled when they came up with this one...
I have to say that Jack White gives it a completely different feel... and it really works... just as the version by Lee-la Baum and The Damn Truth lifts it to yet another dimension...
Always a sign of a beautifully written song when the cover versions are so good.
He sounds a little like Robert Plant in his younger years on this one....big Jack White fan for many years! True musician!
The entire U2 album Achtung, Baby (from which the original comes) is incredible, for those who aren't familiar with it. Jack White has said that he is an enormous U2 fan and his cover of Love is Blindness that is used in The Great Gatsby film is actually a cover he recorded as part of an Achtung, Baby 20-year-anniversary tribute album. The Killers and Nine Inch Nails recorded songs for this tribute album as well as many other artists.
My favourite part about both the book and the movie is how much symbolism is in it. I could go into what all the colours mean and what the main symbol for this story is but that'll be a lot of reading!
Love is blindness
I don't want to see
Won't you wrap the night

Oh my heart
Love is blindness

This song brings me back memories
Through this cover and emotion, now i believe love is really blindness... 😍
C'mon people, why do you fight, I like both versions of this song. I like both U2 and Jack White, music is music, I don't care what you listen to, I care if you listen to it with all your heart - if yes, then great :) Both versions have worse and better moments. I'd like to hear them playing this live or studio version. Why? Because Bono has better voice for this song for the most of time, Jack could scream. I think that bass guitar from the original is important in this song and it needs to be in this song. Jack and The Edge could make solo for both of them. They should play it together at some concert.
i can't see why they did not played this song throughout the credits. by far, it would be a better choice. this particular cover translates the desperation, the exaggeration and the drama of Gatsby's life. it would fit the end perfectly.
Sung with so much more urgency than the original. For some reason I keep coming back to this.
+auro chattopadhyay I prefer this better than the original!!!
I personally like the OG version better. But man this is up there
My favorite version is the edge solo version
@@Flugoongie that one is also amazing👌🏻
Been listening to this over and over since I found it about two weeks ago. Something about it.
I'm a big U2 fan but this version is so freaking awsome the way he does this magnificent
Coming after watching peaky blinders ending of season 1. This song just took my heart. Definitely have to searched it and yet here I am, liking the song and listening on repeat. This track is just fabulous 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Give that drummer a raise
pretty sure it's jack lol
I would’ve thought it’s Daru Jones
@@Shakes-Off-Fear might be. i know he performs for jack on tour but not sure if he does the drums in the studio
