Telemann’s 12 Fantasias for solo flute were published in Hamburg either in 1732 or 1733 (before the 12 violin fantasias published 1735). The first known edition in the Brussels Conservatoire Library, confusingly has ‘Violino’ on the tittle page. It is more than possible this was an error, or perhaps it was intended that these pieces could be played either on violin or flute? Either way, they work wonderfully on the violin.
