My personal favourite is Big George Foreman. Man was a wrecking machine in his prime. Then he lost to Ali, became a preacher and went nearly bankrupt while trying to help poor children. So what does he do? Goes back to boxing and wins the title at age 45! True legend.

You might consider the demography of your judges, whom I assume were mostly Gen Xers. Apart from heavyweights, there also seems to be a strong bias shown to 80's fighters.

Terry don't make that list and neither does Julian Jackson. Don't get me wrong I loved Julian and Terry was outstanding but they live on the levels of Simon Brown, Nigel Benn, Donald Curry, Milton McCory, Wilfredo Benitez, Lupe Pintor, Azumah Nelson and Orlando Ganizales. Second Tier Favorites but Aaron Pryor most definitely should have been on that list.

Thanks! Please more content like this... very interesting and entertaining. Some suprises -- for example I would have expected Roy Jones much higher. But then again, there were "only" 61 participants in the survey. Maybe you can add more people to the survey over time? Anyway some boxers worthy of the Top 50 I can think of off the top of my head are Carlos Monzon, Jake LaMotta, Gene Tunney... Am sure there are many more and it's evident that sympathy factor plays a big role in this kind of survey -- which is fine :-)

Great work and great list, well done, again. I’d love to see a list complied by UK fight fans as I’m sure it would be quite different. So many names that in my opinion are some of the best of all time and certainly some of my favourites. Wow. Almost all my favorite fighters made it in this list. The one missing from this though, is Julian Jackson and John Mugabi. Perhaps this is the 80's bias I bring. As the top contained three of my top fighters in the top. Hearns would be my number 1, followed by Julio Cesar Chavez, Julian Jackson, Marvin Hagler, Roberto Duran and then SRL.

The rest in my Top 5 are
#2 Canelo (because he’s from my home state)
#3 George Foreman (His power blew my mind)
#4 Jack Johnson (his story amazed me, especially after watching the PBS documentary)
#5 Sam Langford (The greatest uncrowned champion)

Marciano was a great. Personally my favourite too. Not the most elegant boxer but the same determination as an entire platoon of soldiers. And the only man to be undisputed undefeated heavyweight champion of the world. Anyone who says he faught bums doesnt understand.. walcott. World champion. Charles. Former world champion. Lewis. Old, but a legitimate contender. Moore. Reigning light heavy champion.
