    I wonder why they don't open the door to the mash tun and then spray it out from above. Obviously they would need another cart with small holes to let the water drain and the grain to remain but it seems like that would be easier/faster than breaking your back like that :D It's awesome that you drove 21 hours to meet up with Adam and to make this video. I have watched a bunch of his videos even though I have no desire to go pro they are entertaining and informative.

    I work part time at a brewery in Ohio as assistant brewer and you really have to love brewing to do it full time. It’s a lot of work and long hours. Cool video. 🍻🍻🍻

    Great collab video! Been watching Adam for a long time, he’s awesome! Out of curiosity, why not use the rakes to push out the spent grain?

    • @HopsANDgnarly
      @HopsANDgnarly  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! We had to pull a little over half of it first and then we did that for a bit and then pulled more before rinsing it out

      @@HopsANDgnarly Gotcha! I've seen where people raise the rakes, give it a whirl, then drop it down 1/2 way whirl again, then all the way for a final push out. Seems to work well and save a ton of time and advil for your back and arms! ;)

    In the UK it's a hard life making money off brewing. Everyone we speak to tells a story of very hard work and little money but they do it out of the love for the profession. I had a go like yourself and you had to stand in the mash tun and the heat off the malt cooked your feet. Was great fun but I will keep it to the enjoyment at home.

    I've had lots of people nudge me to go pro, but I always say that I don't want to turn a hobby that I love into a job that I don't. It's so much work and so many hours, and that doesn't even take into account the business side of things. Do what u feel!

    I think if I was insane enough to want to open my own brewery, I would make sure that I had the money for maximum automation, particularly for stupid shit like grain handling.
