My Dad had a red 96 GL exactly like this style, was a great van never had any issues with it! He bought it used in winter of 2000 had 73,000 miles on it and we had it till 2006 and by time he donated it it had 160,000 miles on it and it still ran good just wouldnt pass inspection here in OH anymore due to lights on the dash no one could ever get to stay off! Was still solid and had no rust either cause we always took care of it! Probably one of the best minivans we've owned! He currently has a black on black 2022 Chrysler Pacifica Touring Limited S AWD he bought this past summer off a previous lease. This van is also awesome Probably best van they make now compared to everything else's!
I hate to say it, but I prefer these minivans over the Chrysler minivans. I'm not a big fan of any Chrysler product aside from their muscle cars and the Dodge Viper. Oh and I also tend to prefer Fords as well.
The guy at the valet parking department in the resort I stayed at in Vermont pulled my car up and was telling me about how he used to dream of owning one and is now stuck in a Mitsubishi 3000GT and it's a piece of crap. I laughed and drove away LOL
Hi, my name is Carol from Illinois. We had a 1996 Ford Windstar just like this, except for the top rack, in the same color. (You wouldn't happen to know the official color would you?). I loved this van and didn't want to get rid of it, but when it was about 7 1/2 years old and just turned over 100,000 miles or so the transmission went out. It would have cost $2,500+ to fix and we didn't want to pay that much so we traded it in for a 2003 Ford Windstar. This was the last year they made the Windstar so it was a great deal and I was able to still get a minivan instead of a smaller car. The newer van was a darker green metallic and I didn't like it as much. I wish they still made this color, but my options were few. I wish I knew the original color, I think it was something like Iris Frost, but not sure. If you could find out and tell me it's original color, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
Okay, here are some new cars that I would recommend. Japanese: Mazda 6 (It's an excellent underrated midsize car and is a good choice if you're bored with the bajillion Camries and Accords driving around) European: Pretty much anything that Volkswagen has made. American: Ford Taurus or Ford Fusion, either car is great. South Korean: Anything that Hyundai has made (Not a big fan of them, but they are recommend for anyone who just wants a cheap and reliable car to get them going from point a to point b)

The Windstar looks great. Makes me happy to see cars get taken care of. Would love to see a test drive of it!
Ill work on getting one out for ya!

Great review. I Wish that Ford would bring back the Ford Windstar/Freestar Minivans
