NGL, the beginning bit did make me jump. This story reminds me of Captain Scarlet. Mainly the bit of Thomas and Gordon having new bodies after the crash. Sort of like how the mysterons would 'recreate an exact likeness of an object or person'.
Even though I've seen the story before, I somehow still managed to get chills from this. I'm impressed by how you managed to make the sight of Thomas and Gordon in the pit look genuinely unsettling even with the limitations of Trainz. Great job!
I feel like this story really let you showcase your filmmaking talents at their best! It’s so refreshing to see something take a departure from the standard Thomas storytelling format.
Holy shit that was fucking amazing. I've always liked the concept of intertwining Thomas and Gordon's pilot models into the lore of Thomas, and you managed to recreate that original story perfectly. The horror aspect of this video was also really effective. I was actually getting nervous at certain scenes. You nailed this man, bravo!
The worst part of it reminds me of the fate of the real life counterpart. An engine in the UK fell into mine, a similar way to Thomas only the mine was much deeper to the point of the engine was unrecoverable, and the only way to fix the section of the track was to cover it up. Leaving that engine, trapped under all that soil.
0:26 GEEZ! Every time, I get frightened by Gordon’s eyes squeezed shut appearance when it’s sudden. Idk why, but I keep having flashbacks of “A Better View For Gordon” at the part where little me thought he was going to spill out of the tv, but now I know a screen is there to protect me.
I dislike typical Thomas horror stories. They often rely too much on shock value or feel tonally dissonant from the show proper. But this? This is genuinely haunting. It took the mystery surrounding the pilot’s models and used that as a springboard for a story that allows for a more realistic telling of “Down the Mine” to happen. It also touches on the engines’ faces being removable in a way that’s not gross, so that’s a plus. Excellent story and phenomenal adaptation.
Welp you officially made this adaptation of this "what if" story more creepy with the usage of the static sounds and effects and the music used on Sir Topham's explanation here. I'm officially terrified of this. But this is still a great adaptation here. Well done.
Somehow your videos get more and more closer to being in a movie theater. Love the fact you used World of goo music at the mine scene. The pilot models being the prototypes is a really great in-joke too.
This was so good! Stories like this and Henry 1&2 have this sense of eeriness when watching, they don’t scare you per-say but they make you feel, off. Well done on this video!
This is quite a nice story, well done with it. I might have a look at some more of your stuff; I only found the channel by happy accident of the TH-cam algorithm. The whole being-split-from-another-self premise reminds me of an anime series/game I play called Kantai Collection, where WWII ships are reborn specifically to fight unnatural, powerful seaborne enemies- not too different from the Thomas genre in that historical machines are being given human personalities, feelings and develop their own identities. Although there are others like Kancolle in the shipgirl genre (e.g. Arpeggio of Blue Steel and Azur Lane), what makes it especially similar to your story is how in Kancolle (specifically to the movie) it is revealed that the Abyssal enemies are just like the fleet-girls, except that they were formed by the anger and regret of being sunk. Sunk Abyssals can return as fleet-girls and vice versa, some fleet-girls can remember being Abyssals, and others experience partial amnesia. The climax goes further, where the destroyer Fubuki has to face her Abyssal counterpart (resentful of being left behind) at the very place the real-world Fubuki sank in 1942: Ironbottom Sound in the South Pacific. Picking up the historical references is really interesting- it's hardly surprising I've met others on the internet interested in Thomas, railway history, model railways, scale modelling, military history and shipgirl animes- all in varied combinations.
Impressive work thebogieboy! You've made use of the 1983 pilot and turned it into a spooky story worthy of all the spine chills! I love it! I truly hope that Gordon and Thomas can move on from this experience. Also, I'm wondering where you get all your sweet music scores from? Do you have any sources I could listen to? Your soundtracks are a banger!
I was so confused at the start but new somthing was wrong but i didn't expect that i was shocked but well done one of the best adaptation to this story
That was fantastic not gonna lie that was a dark moment when Thomas and Gordon saw there old body’s on the mine I’m quite surprised no one took them out of the pit and so they decided to put a new body on those two engines
Wow, it felt a little like a horror story, but interesting callback to the pilot version of "Down the Mine", with the original models of Thomas and Gordon literally down the mine. ...Prototypes, I should say.
What if it was the same situation with Henry? It would be like his face was moved to his new shape while his old one rots away on the side of the line at the site of the kipper crash.
I feel this story is a weird enigma that I can't seem to understand what makes sense about Thomas and Gordon dying from that lead mine only for them to come back to life to see their dead corpses. I am like... what?... I just can't seem to help be thought in questions over this story as to how it makes sense.
5:55 just gonna say this. If they were to finish and complete the pilot model of Thomas, then perhaps they could've made him look exactly how he was drawn by both Reginald Payne and with some C.Reginald Dalby in there too.
It would make sense for their faces to be removed cause behind their faces is the smoke box door meaning they can just remove it and place the faces on a different engines
I normally don’t care for these kinds of videos…spooky sure but not this dark…however there was something about your adaptation that is different from other versions and I kind of like it this time

I love how in the flashback Thomas's whistle had the same sound from TATMRR. I personally think it suits him well.

Glad to see a fellow Gerry Anderson fan! - Sid
This must be how Henry got his rebuild at crew, they simply moved his face to a Black 5 locomotive body.
Ohh

Holy Crap… that was……… one of the best adaptations of this creepy story. Well done my friend.
I’ve seen other adaptations, but this one, by far, is truly the best one I’ve ever seen!

I like how the flashback scenes use the Johnny Morris narration.
It’s stories like this that keep me invested in the fandom. This is probably one of the best Thomas horror stories I have seen thus far. Bravo!
I like the clever use of the pilot models.this story is great and chilling!
Okay, normally I like the creepy and spooky fan-made Thomas episodes. But this? This is terrifying even for me! 😬
It ain't just terrifying for you. This story is ABSOLUTELY terrifying.
i am unphased

this was very. very. good! Best one out there!
Jesus Christ. That was a really terrifying adaption. I have ever seen. keep it up.
This is the BEST Adaption of this story, this was definitely worth the wait! Great job dude!
this is the reason why thomas doesn’t look like a e2
I can never find that pilot Gordon model anywhere.
I only used TSI's S1 Thomas and Gordon as the dead prototypes.
"YoU hElP mE aNd I hElP yOu... :)"
Why do I see that right now but more funnier tho. 🤣
Also, I knew a meme from Spiderman across the multiuniverse.

This is amazing I love the direction especially so much!
not sure if it is them or not but i love the touch of the half engine's screaming indicating their presence even after their initial appearance
I think you’re on the wrong video mate. But i do agree with you but the screaming isn’t exactly screaming. It’s actually A fox call.
This is best adaptation of this story I have seen so far
What a chilling adaptation! Spectacular work

An amazing adaptation. Truly brilliant.
Those are the models from the pilot
that was amazing.
probably one you're best "horror" types of videos I seen yet!
Wow, just wow. I love the way you did the faces. It adds so much to the video.
This is techically a reference of the pilot and the real life event inspiring the story
What event?

I love it this one it is perfect great job.
Absolutely incredible
This has to be one of the best adaptation.
I love people using old Thomas props as inspiration for spooky stories!
I love how this story relates to the pilot episode of TTTe
At 6:49 you can actually see that it’s the pilot models in the whole since no detail on Thomas splashed and Gordon has thick side rods
WOW! That was Pretty Magnificent!
This could actually explain the events of the flying kipper if you take the guy from crew into consideration
As brilliant as I thought it would be!
Spooky, but amazing. Loved it
But the start got me 😭
" tragically someone was hurt," said the narrator

Wonderful story and animation, I find it very interesting
Didnt anyone see the pilot modles on post?
I might be the only one, but I keep hearing the Half Engine's screams in the nighttime ambiance. Could be wrong but it just sounds like her at points.

a question but please answer.
What is the name of the sound effect when Thomas starts to shake in fear when he sees his true shape in the mine?

Had impressed me
This is devastating that Thomas and Gordon find they old bodies is in that mine
6:04 made my blood go cold
I see you unmeshed the faces of the pilot thomas and gordon after the accident
This could be true bc the smokebox doors can come off/open.
As in the RWS, Henry’s SBD was opened.
meaning the faces
are the doors..
It would make sense for their faces to be removed cause behind their faces is the smoke box door meaning they can just remove it and place the faces on a different engines
This was good very good
Hopefully, they can come back and be the second number one and number four someday on the railway
