      It’s just a joke vid. My first was Shadow Dragon DS and after that Awakening and then the gba games and Tellius games and then finally Fates… and so on and so on… The only entries I found weak were the Tellius games and Echoes. I’ve loved all the others specially Three Houses, Awakening, and Fates. Memorable mentions to Shadow Dragon, Blazing Sword, and Sacred Stones. But overall I’ve really loved the series.

    I'm sorry, but I'll just say it. I can't stand new fire emblems. Too many skills, too many numbers, too many things to account for.
    Yo, remember that time when damage was just attack-defense and if you had 5 or 4 AS more than your enemy you attacked twice, the only lucky thing was a crit as there were no skills, and the numbers only changed by level ups, items or terrain?
    Also, a stat was good if it surpassed 15, and oh god if it ever reached 25.
    Before it was simple yet complex in strategy. Now is about your characters being utterly unkillable and avatars of death and destruction.

    • @CaTastrophy427
      @CaTastrophy427 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, tank walls + OHKO mages/archers became the new meta (if you could say a 1p game has a "meta")
      Alternatively, screw "unkillable" stat-wise, and just play Phoenix mode with everything invested into offensive stats.

    • @hylianfelldragon1308
      @hylianfelldragon1308 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      So basically Fire Emblem became shit in Genealogy of the Holy War and Thracia 776, Became good again in FE6-8 and then went back to shit from Path of Radiance onwards?
      If the amount of numbers and mechanics to consider beyond basic bitch FE fundamentals is what makes FE bad, those are the vibes that I'm getting at with this take.
      Also 4+ AS is usually what's required to double attack in most FE games. The only FE games I can think of that requires 5+ AS to double is ironically enough Awakening and Fates.

    • @Mr96POP
      @Mr96POP 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hylianfelldragon1308 Yeah, I don’t get what the original commenter is thinking. I understand liking simple numbers, but if that were the case, then they must hate the Jugdral games that invented the skills system. They must also think the Tellius games are a nightmare with their multiple skill procs.
      OP mentions 5 AS to double as if it’s ancient history, yet ironically (as you pointed out), it’s the modern games in Awakening and Fates that use the +5 AS threshold OP mentions. Doubling in 3H still requires +4 AS like in nearly every game, and SoV is the only game since the Kaga era to simply use the basic +1 AS threshold, and that’s because it’s a remake.
      Also, having simple numbers is part of what makes the gameplay in FE6 pretty rough. Not only are hit rates low, but there’s no skill or Combat Art to artificially raise that hit rate. You’re stuck with what you’re given, and what you’re given is an unbalanced game in which swords rule and nearly everyone else is filler at most. Having no skills in FE6 is actually a weakness since it forces you to evaluate units by their raw stats, and too many characters just have pathetic stats.
      Stats and skills in 3H are actually really easy to keep track of. Reading a character’s Atk, Prt, and Rsl is an easy way to calculate damage, and most abilities (skills) have explicit conditions that aren’t just random procs.

    • @andoujurai4295
      @andoujurai4295 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I was talking about AS as being the one of the little things you had to account for when fighting, not as in the games being good only when they applied those numbers.
      Still, my opinion stands, needless inflation of the numbers and needless skills.
      I don't want a world destroying wombo-combo making my already immortal character even more broken and unkillable IN A GAME ABOUT WAR. Strength in numbers, yeah, thats a thing, but numbers as in people for fucks sake.
      You command a little elite army, sometimes not as elite as you'd want, sometimes better than the enemy. But even so, they are still soldiers. Yeah they level up and become stronger than normal, maybe even becoming able to hit and damage a dragon, but they are still normal ass people who wont attack five times on their turn because of a 25% chance of their skill activating.
      The new games gave more choices, debuffing the enemy and buffing the ally, game breakers like attacking first even when attacked, and so on.
      They may be good and liked games, with a better story to tell and more chances for you to like its characters, but the feeling of being at a human war while fighting with your companions is lost. Now you are just a group of gods that can kill anything on their way, and the only way they can stop you is by making a difficulty where your run-of-the-mill bandit from stage 2 can kill 7 of your soldiers at the start of the game without breaking a sweat.
      Such balance.

    • @hylianfelldragon1308
      @hylianfelldragon1308 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andoujurai4295 I have some counterarguments with some of the things you said here. It shows how little you actually know about the older (GBA I assume) games that it makes me wonder when was the last time you actually played them or how far you've gotten in them.
      1. You get plenty of broken prepromoted units that can carry you through all 3 of the GBA games. Perceval, Marcus, Pent and Seth can wipe out entire armies on their own with a 1-2 ranged weapon like a Javelin or a Thunder spell. You don't want to have gods in your army and yet the very same games that you're defending gives you units that can carry your army through most/all of the game with their starting stats on a silver platter.
      2. Contrary to what your nostalgia might tell you, it's entirely possible to make scrub soldiers an incredibly OP god in the GBA games. Take Rutger in FE6 for example. When he joins, he's a rather basic Navarre like Myrmadon but when he's promoted, he gains a +30% Crit buff. This plus his Supports with Clarine and Diek plus giving him a high crit sword like a Killing Edge or a Wo Dao can make him achieve an average of 102% Crit with most enemies in the game including bosses. Want another example? How about how Tana who starts out as a weak Pegasus Knight in Chapter 10 but if you promote her into a Wyvern Rider, she gets a SKILL called Piercing which ignores the enemies Defense stat and later in the game, you get an item called Flr Shield which negates the only plausible weakness that Flyers typically have which is deceptable against bows, and several FE7 players myself included made Lyn a boss killing god in their casual playthroughs. It's entirely possible to make super gods in the GBA games and hell due to the simplicity and the low enemy stat scailing, I would argue that it's just as easy if not easier to achieve that goal of godhood. It's just that newer games (Path of Radiance onwards I assume) give you more options at the expense of higher enemy stat scailing.
      3. You don't like the newer games because they have buffs and debuffs to the stats of your allies and enemies? You do know that the weapon triangle alone is pretty much a rock paper scissors style buff and debuff to you allies and enemies HIT right? The GBA games also have 2RN so using the weapon triangle to make an enemy unit's HIT% to go from 50% to 35% is more of a 25% debuffs to the enemies HIT and not a 15%. Or how about Ninian and Nils ring items like Nini's Grace which litteraly ARE +10 stat buffs to your units. Do those not exist all of the sudden or did you completely forget about them.
      4. You don't want units to attack 5 times under a percentage activated skill? The reason why I find this baffling is because there's these kind of weapons in the GBA games that can achieve something similar to that called Brave weapons which as long as the unit can double, they can attack up to 4 times WITHOUT the activation percent and and any of those 4 attacks can crit so this plus support bonuses that can boost ATK and/or CRT usually up to +12 with an A support plus a nearby dancer for yet another 4 hits in a turn, yeah what was that about units not being god like in the older games?
      5. This I'll admit is more of an agree to disagree thing but I would argue that if the game is focused around that Part of the gameplay or if it's an important mechanic of the game as a whole, it's anything BUT pointless. The reason why I like the skill system is because it adds an extra layer of customization and believe it or not, strategy especially if the enemy boss has a skill that can throw you off like Luna with the Black Knight or Counterattack with Edelgard. But this is one where I can at least be willing to agree to disagree.
      6. The final boss of most Fire Emblem games is a fucking dragon, a mythological creature and Sacred Stone's final boss is litteraly a demon overlord. Realism with a war game about soldiers against soldiers went out the window.
