I can't seem to find this version on Spotify and after watching contrapoints I'm literally obcessed with it, can anyone help me? (I have the OVXX version which contra used, but I want this too)
This cantata sounds rather archaic. I wouldn't be surprised if it were composed by one of Telemann's predecessors in Leipzig or Hamburg - the harmonies and structure are more in the style of 1680-1700. It COULD be a very early work by Telly, but that's the least likely explanation of all.
This style of composition is similar to Telemann's TWV 7:1 and 7:3. It was very possible that they were very very early works of Telemann (maybe in his high school years as he described it in his autobiography) and thus belonged to a large body of early works and pieces that have since disappeared. It appeared to me that such works were his etudes in composition and styles which was why his style underwent impressive development in his early career as a professional musician and composer.
There is no doubts this cantata is by Telemann, but it is indeed one of his very early works. It was probably written during his school year in Hildesheim between 1697 and 1701. So you are right about the style being more of 1680-1700 since it was composed during this period.
Ah, how weary, ah, how fleeting is the life we cherish. As a vapor it appeareth and as quickly disappeareth, and its meaning no one knoweth! We are like strangers before God, as were our fathers also. For our life here is like a shadow and we find no refuge. This poor life is as naught, is as nothing and knows no place of safety: Sela. A man is in his life like the grass. He flourishes like a blossom in a meadow, as the wind goes rushing by and is no longer there and of his abode he knows no more. Then all flesh shall flee its ageing bond, for thus still the old law speaks: thou must perish! :-)

Beatiful!
