A bump from 1.5 to 4.0 seems out of the ordinary. There are physical reasons for a book to be a 1.5 that usually do not go away with a clean and a press. Did you agree with the original assessment of a 1.5 and saw the potential of it being a 3.0 or better? And you made me chuckle when you said "golden age dirt." This was a nice collection of books. It is always fun to see someone giving attention to books that are never going to be a 9.0.
The 1.5 to 4.0 is predominantly how CBCS and CGC differ on how they assess missing interior content. CBCS had a low grade for a corner of an internal page being ripped off. CGC only hit that to a 4.0. Personally, I think CGC was very generous w the missing interior content.
