  • Episode #248 : Season 8 : The Hawaiian Adventures
    Hello Friends,
I spent the morning watching the rising sun illuminate the beautiful sea stacks that give this anchorage its name and after my coffee was all consumed I hauled up and enjoyed a peaceful sail on flat seas down the coast two miles to my next anchorage.
Bound for Kamala Nui Anchorage, I had never spoken to anyone who had visited this anchorage and and only read about it in one cruising guide. But it turned out to be my absolute favorite anchorage in the Hawaiian Islands so far!!!!

Why? You can pick up a sailing boat for a few thousand dollars, doesn't take much to learn to sail, heck my boat is better than this guy's! 33ft fast single keel ,This guy's no different to the rest of us.

I don't wanna sail forever , just til I find my paradise with beautiful indigenous women who know how to survive self sustained. I could feel that sail between anchorages. The sounds of the lapping water on the hull. The coastal sounds of being close to the shore. Damn that brought back so many memories. And reminded me of how much I miss it. Thanks James

Love your videos really cool to live vicariously. I lived Hawaii for 10 years and never was a sailor but lots of my friends were and are. What would be helpful and cool if you actually explained some of the stuff you said when talking about things that I have NO about and I’m sure most don’t either. This way we can learn small kine sailing stuff while watching too. 😊

All that volcanic rock, it looks so harsh. Loved seeing the markings to show how the lava spewed out and cooled, fascinating. Yes a beautiful, isolated place, a safe place for the marine life. Thanks again. Happy sails.

thank you for posting the portion of your snorkeling off Lanai. I use to live on the south side of Maui back in 81-84. it blows my mind of how much the Coral reefs are dying off. it saddens my heart of what such a abundant covering of mass coral has disappeared.

Yeah it's been noticeable in the decades I lived in those parts. I imagine that Dole and C&H Sugar are the real culprits, with their use of pesticides and herbicides in the large scale production of pineapple and sugar in the 20th century. The feral pigs also cause massive valley washout when rain hits the West Maui mountains, which settles on the reefs and suffocates them.

You can still sail ... 🤞🏼 BTW take a look at a Vlog by Nautistyles sailing a while ago called the Impossible dream.
Monohulls are a bit trickier but there are also tall ships that work with people who have mobility issues.
Theres one guy and his girlfriend out there who is a double leg amputee after suffering an IED blast living a cruising life.
Theres a list of features that make it easier but you can do it .. especially in a place like Australia. 👍🏼🇬🇧⛵

Hey, a Nicotiana Tabacum just chilling on an island, growing by itself.
Hawaiians, or anyone who may just happen to know, is that unusual for a tobacco plant to just be growing by itself in that part of the world? It's about unheard of in my area, and piqued my curiosity.

Hello James. Thank you once again for the interesting video. Nice photography and editing.
The only thing your videos lack is a consistent audio leveling. The difference between your voice over the camera mic and the random background music
is so huge that I always find myself readjusitng the volume. I understand that it is a good idea to keep the voice channel low to avoid wind and background noises getting too strong,
but you should consider keeping the music channel lower as well. Since your music selection is quite appealing it won't lose its presence with 1-2 db less. :-)
Greetingss from Germany. Happy and save sailing.

in my youth i was with the boys scouts. At camp we were located on the Biesbosch a lake in the Netherlands. The big vessel ofcourse had an anchor but the chain was so thick and heavy, no one could ever lift that by hand. We were all standing there taking tries. We failed. Then i said, i want to take one more try. I managed to lift it up and hold it like for a second or 2. No one believed me.
Next day one of the staf approached me and said, did you really manage? Why would i lie? And he said well.. The ship moved a couple of meters.

      lol :D
When I was a kid, there was 5 ~28" concrete balls that were setup as a roadblock to a street where cars couldn't go. Well let's just say that whoever installed them didn't bother tying them down, just made a small flat spot on the bottom of them. And when I and a few kids from the neighbourhood found out - we we're jumping on them and one moved slightly - it was obviously a challenge. Pretty difficult to get them moving but once you did, it was also quite dificult to get them to stop.. Long story short, we organized a race (one of us got a hotwheels racetrack with a stopwatch just that week so he of course had it on him all the time) around a parking lot (luckily empty at the time) with 5 of us each rolling one of the balls. Let's just say that the two officers of the municipal police who were having a boring day riding around the town were both angry at us and amused at the same time when they saw us running around rolling those things.. They had us put them back and promise we won't do that again. Aaand the city had them changed for the boring steel posts in a few months lol.

@@inventiveowl395 reminds me of an actual project that's been going on in the country. Everywhere they placed statues, some really nice. You won't expect it but a closer look reveals they are made out of solid concrete. I don't know the exact weight, could be 200 kilograms or maybe even 400, hard to tell but some kids managed to push one over anyways.
