@@Jordannnnnnnjones Tuba Skinny is a traditional jazz street band based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The band's instrumentation includes cornet, clarinet, trombone, tuba, tenor banjo, guitar, frottoir, and vocals. The ensemble draws its inspiration from the early jazz, ragtime, and blues music of the 1920s and 1930s.
Kudos to Shaye for gathering these great players together to make this Feel-Good Machine happen. Erika’s smooth, in-the-pocket vocals put the cherry on top. Bless ‘em all. Tuba Skinny!!
When I was a kid just out of high school, I put together a Dixieland band. I also played cornet, like Shaye. These days I play a mean blues harp. I miss those days though.
As a lifetime resident of the New Orleans area, I think these guys are the bright side and true ambassadors for the City of New Orleans as I once knew it.
Shaye with her great foot stomping time keeping method and Erika with such a sweet and golden voice that can't be beat - heck the whole band is super great and cannot be beat
My next trip to N.O. I hope they are there !!! I just love this they make my day better !!! I can forget this agent orange from Vietnam !!!! And can almost dance !!!
I have always loved Tuba Skinny's performances of this song...but this particular one I absolutely adore. There is something about the slower tempo that gives it a wonderful feel.
Absolute musical GENIOUS here. So many amazing things. I'm sure to watch and listen to this video 50 times, and I bet I see and experience something new every time.Never been to NO...but if I ever do go, will be looking for this group. Thanks!!!
Tuba Skinny has such a unique sound, they have no equal. It’s obvious that that you enjoy playing together. I cannot get enough of you! Thank you for cheering me up when I’m down!
What’s makes a great band? This one has a great string section, plus a brilliant percussion section and that’s before you get to the woodwind and brass! Oh, even the trombonist can hold a good song. In short, New Orleans on a plate. If your feet ain’t tapping, you are probably dead.
I cannot believe that there is only one person moving to this lovely music, the young girl standing behind leaning against the wall. The rest are like statues, just staring into space, absolutely frozen. I wish we had this band here in Howick , South Africa. I would be flippin' my lid. WOW !!
Thanks very much for filming, Randy. Some interesting features in their presentation of this 12-bar song: the well-rehearsed four-bar 'interlude' inserted between choruses (signalled by Shaye's outstretched leg at 1 min 34), and the seamless key change from Bb to Eb (signalled by Shaye's raised finger at 3 mins 16) so that it moves into a key in which Greg prefers to sing it. In their first recording of this song, on the 'Tuba Skinny' album, they played it quite simply, staying in Bb throughout. In the version on the later 'Pyramid Strut' album, they again stayed in Bb throughout, but there was - at a slightly later point - pretty much the same 'interlude' mentioned above; and there was also a four-bar washboard 'interlude' even earlier, just before Erika started to sing. It's interesting to observe how they enjoy playing around with structures as the years roll on.

Good music is good music. Timeless, albeit most of the time I've got headphones on in my own World, guilty but when I hear something interesting, I take a bud out and listen for a few seconds. Then get back to my errands.
Maybe people are walking past because there's another jazz band on the next street corner, and another on the one after that? I don't know. It's New Orleans.
It’s not that people don’t enjoy the performances but excellent street music is the cultural norm in NOLA. If you stopped for everyone you would never get where you are going. I have heard this band many times. They are awesome musicians and awesome people.

Good buckets. Take a music lesson or two, you’ll appreciate it more.
How can people just walk past , as though nothing is happening. These people are quality .
Unfortunately, there are too many who just don't appreciate ragtime jazz.
That dude with the bicycle at 2:52 wasn't just walking past. He was bopping to the beat. 😀
because its New Orleans. This stuff is happening pretty much every day
Those ppl hv no sense to appreciate art in their hearts
Agreed, I'm a musician. Ignorance is the reason, in my opinion.
When music was happy, cheerful, and actually music. Gotta love it.
