Excellent video. I'm about to do my 9 year old Harley Ultra Limited for the 2nd time. I have no idea how much clear coat I have to work with (regarding polishing with a rotary with pads and compound). I understand there are many variables like compound, pads used, time spent, and pressure applied. BUT if anyone can give me some insight I'd appreciate it!
Least agressive method first. So, start with a finishing polish and a medium to finishing foam pad. Do a test section, and see if this provides the results you desire.
Corey, your experience and professionalism comes across in the advice you give so thanks for taking the time to go over all the 101's for us DIYers. I also watched your polishing video afterwards and I appreciate all the details, really good stuff thank you.
Hi Adin! So we are in the works on getting a video shot by one of our CQUARTZ Finest installers. It might be a little while before it is released. If you have any questions however on where to get DQUARTZ installed or more about the product itself, you can always reach out to our service team.
Did all this on my new BMW except for the polishing part since the car was pretty new (fresh from Munich, I drove it only for about 6 weeks). Would really recommend it to every buyer of a new car, to do that as soon as possible, since you don't need the polishing steps (at least for me because the paint was in pristine condition). Oh and I used the lite version of CQUARTZ which is incredible easy to put on and almost held for 2 years (wash my car very regularly and use ceramic detailer like the one from Sonax) which completely blew me away.
Thanks for sharing. We always recommend the polishing step even on new paint because you can't be sure the dealer did not spray wax or something on it.
Do you think that CarPro will come out with a consumer friendly/ DIY DQUARTZ version? I would love to install DQUARTZ on my car but don't want to let an installer do it for me. It takes away the from the interaction and enjoyment of taking care of my car.
First, LOVE the way you described WHY you want DQUARTZ. Most people just want for the product, not for the experience. So we greatly appreciate your feedback and your perspective. To answer you question. CARPRO is working on a commercially available version of the coating that uses the diamond technology. We don't have a date yet though. It could be a while until we get more testing time with DQUARTZ on the market. - James
@@SkyCarCare Thanks James, I have been your customer for quite a while now and love what you guys are doing. You have earned a customer for life and hope to continue supporting you guys :) Side note: I hope CarPro comes out with a Diamond Technology soon as I will be one of the first ones to try it.
After applying cquart uk two coats and top off with reload how long before you can pull it out of garage and drive? How long before first wash? Thanks in advance!
Great question! It depends on the conditions. If you are in winter and salty roads then the longer the better!!! Even a week would be GREAT in that situation... But if not possible then AT LEAST 24~48 hours. If you are in normal conditions and clean roads and no rain with no cars on the road then you COULD take it out a few hours later but best to wait 12~24.
Hello I have a question what if at the final stage of polishing use carpro essence we need to ipa wipe off or it’s ok after essence go to apply ceramic coating ?
Great information! I’m about to install CQuartz this weekend on my partially PPF wrapped Tesla. Any recommendations for prepping the PPF (3M) for ceramic? Can essence be used on PPF? If so, pad recommendations?
Hmm, thats a tough question since the ppf has already been worn by the car awhile. Generally speaking the answer is yes. Essence on a microfiber finishing pad will do. But be sure to make sure it doesn't void any issue with your PPF to polish it.
Yes, for exterior plastics wash well with CARPRO Inside and a microfiber - then rinse well water, then dry and wipe down with the IPA ratio you suggested above.
@@MrJvjava Thanks Jon, I would NOT use Dlux for the interiors. I would choose from one of 2 products for protecting the interior. If you like a little gloss or a very economically priced product that is comparable or superior to 303 then use CARPRO PERL. That is a concentrate you can cut 1:3, 1:5, or 1:8 for interior making it very economical. Just cut to suit the gloss you want. 1:3 is glossy, 1:5 is closer to satin / slight gloss, 1 part PERLA / 8 part water is between satin and matte. www.carpro-us.com/wheels-trim/carpro-perl-500ml-17oz/ If you want something that leaves the finish feeling soft and silky and is a like new matte finish and lasts 3-6 months then use Ultima Interior Guard Plus www.carpro-us.com/interior/ultima-interior-guard-plus-4-oz/ This one costs more but goes a long way. Treat the Toyota/Lexus Nu-Lux fake leather as “leather” or Vinyl? I notice most leather conditioners say leather or Vinyl. What do you use for the soft rubber around the door seals? PERL as well?
Can’t forget about the rubber removal step after wash if you have those. Ive used the Mother’s R3 and it’s extremely basic; it will strip off the cured silicone that is the ceramic coating.
Rubber and silicone are not the same thing and ceramic coatings are not silicone either. Silicon dioxide is what is the ceramic material in ceramic coatings, it’s not silicone.
After you have made it all the way around the car then you can take Eraser and a mf towel and start in the same place you started with Essence and go the same direction around car with your light wipe down. If it is possible then best practice is to wait 4 hours or even 12 hours b ut you can certainly do it within an hour if you do not have the time to wait.
@@sirliftsalot1154 Yes, that is great :). As long as the car was still in garage staying clean then its great. In this case then wait until you are about to apply the coating and do the light Eraser wipe down at this time before the coating.
People choose to ceramic coat their vehicles for its protection of paint/ other surfaces, ease of clean ability, and gloss preservation capabilities. Thats a VERY diluted explanation of what coatings do but you can expect hydrophobic properties, lasting gloss (after polishing) and preservation of paint.
