    Thanks for the video. Excellent tips on using it. It is a great coating for both surfaces. I found that even on older trim that has been restored it tends to have that appearance mentioned on trim as it ages. From my experience it lasts longer on wheels with a second layer.

    This is kinda scary. I've been using DLUX on all my new cars and have never had an issue but now I'll be wondering if I should whenever I get another car. It just makes the plastic look so much better, even on new car. Darker and richer, of course easier to keep clean as well.

      I know, it looks Sooooooo good!! We are planning to do an update where we show how you would fix it if that worst case scenario ever happens... Hint: It involves a pressure washer and a lot of patience but I have had 2 customers that have done it successfully.

    Cheers for the video. There's obviously a lot of discussion re length of time its lasts. I am using Trim Serum now but am looking to move to this product.
    The question I have is the UV protection. Does it have any? I see no reference to it on the product or their web site.
    I want to use the product to protect a vinyl dashboard in a Mazda SP23.

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Yes, definitely has UV protection however I would advise against ceramic coatings on vinyl dashboards. They can wear or bond unevenly and there is no way to fix it if so... since you cannot polish the surface with abrasives. I would stick with a less permanent solution.

    I’ve been using Dlux once a year the past 5 years for my wheels and the leftover on the plastics and really like it. I know the wheels should be polished but what about the windshield cowl? Is that something that should/can be removed to apply a new coat?

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As discussed in the video - there is no foolproof way to remove a ceramic from textured plastic. You cannot polish the surface so it is very difficult to remove it. If you want to completely remove a ceramic coating then a pressure washer and patience is the only way to do it. HOWEVER, if the plastic looks good then there is no reason to have to try to do that. You can simply prep it well with APC and wash, then Eraser, completely evaporate and then apply another coat if the coating wore of naturally over past 5 years.

    Do y’all have a surface prep video with the prep /cleaning products mentioned?
    I think I also heard you say something about another product that would darken the plastic more but then apply this over it. I’ve got a bottle of the Dlux but I’m now cautious to use it before I prep more with the other products. My car is jet black so I’d like to get the plastic as black as possible.

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      All coatings will last differently depending on how much is left in the bottle. But a good average is just shy of 6 months if there is still half the product left in the bottle and it is stored in a dry cool place. Less product in the bottle will go bad faster.

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hahaha! good point :) The longer the better.... but technically you could do it within an hour... BUT if you hit mud and break dust and tar then 1 hour is not so good... If it was sunny and a short drive without hard braking and clean roads then no big deal. If you wait 12-24 hours then you should be very good. If you wanted BEST case then wait 3 days (but nobody is doing that) ;)

      @SkyCarCare  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@vincentt8764 Great question! I considered mentioning that if you can NOT do it in less that 90 minutes then waiting a full day is best. If you do it after 90 minutes and before 6 hours then you have a area in there somewhere where it just interrupts the first coat and messes it up. Basically it is turning from a liquid to a gel and then a gel to a solid. Once it is a gel, it should not be interrupted until a solid.

      Generally you kind of just apply it smooth and work it in until it is perfectly even in smaller sections. If it is being over-applied then I would say wipe off excess within 1 minute depending on temps.

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Ben, GREAT question. Very important... do NOT polish new headlights or tail lights. The UV protection layer built into them new is stronger than any ceramic coating on the market. Polishing would remove that OEM protective layer.
      You can go ahead and just wipe them down with CARPRO Eraser and then apply the DLUX. Since they are brand new, there is no polishing needed.

    Question for ya: I tried the Cerekote on my window side moldings on my 370z - the lower section ( top of door - where glass and door meet - the straight parallel section). It's held up decently - can I buy some time with an application of Dlux on top of it? I did the cerekote about 4 months ago. The main challenge is that half of it is like a hard plastic, the other half is more rubberized. I'm debating buying new ones to have stored as the 370z is nolonger in production.. it's the only black piece on the entire car that's fading faster than I'd like.

    • @SkyCarCare

    I am a little undewhelmed with it, on trim yes, its very good, but on my wheels wich i coated with a double layer after just 2-3 months the coating is super clogged - i wash them weekly, sometimes a full wash with pressure sometimes rinsless (as i have a communal garage) i always wash my car and my wheels with DI water so there should be no mineral buildup - also they are my summer tires so they dont see rain (i dont drive in the rain, its my special car), on my weekly maintenace i use BH Surfex HD 1:20 and i clean them with Hurricane Wash mit, someone advised me to use a Waterspot remover but still, there should be NO mineral buildup as i use DI water. Didn't use IronX yet on them - trying to minimize rusting wich these chemicals induce (i know they remove iron buildup but used long term and often induce rusting on the calipers and rotors). So not a great customer experience as a LOT of effort went to prep these (put DLUX also on my winter wheels)
