    Great video. I have to agree with the flash time/wipe-off time. On the instructions and site, it was saying 5-7 minutes at 23 degrees (Celsius) with 50% humidity. From my previous two applications, I was getting ideal wipe-off times around 11-13 minutes, since the temps and humidity were fluctuating by a few degrees in the garage.

    Great vid. I've always applied 2 coats UK 3.0 with 1 coat SIC. I did it on my Forged Bronze 16' Maxima and I did it on my 22' Black Blazer RS. I also do the same application on my wheels. My cars are garaged kept and washed only in the driveway by hand with Reset. I just did my wife's 23' White Buick Envision/Black wheels. That combo is a fantastic combo and It holds up very well in the environment. I had my Maxima 6 years and only coated it once (3 coats) in those 6 years, topping it often with Reload. I love messing with my paint, so I know I overused the Reload, but the damn thing always looked great and held up well. The Blazer was purchased January, 22' and I coated it in March. Took one day to polish it right as rain, and spent the next 4 days coating it and treating the wheels (I'm retired). I also treated the interior of the Blazer (black) with Leather 2.0. Looks great inside. Once I'm ready to polish off the UK and SIC, I will definately use the DQ, 2 coats, and a top coat of...?
    I'm actually trying to figure out what would be the best to top coat. SIC? Gliss? I know this can be somewhat subjective, and I'm sure all will provide great results. I'm not so hung-up on how slick the paint feels after coating, so I'm more focused on durability. Any real world suggestions would be appreciated as far as that third coat.

      LOVE all the feedback and info from your real world experiences! To answer your question, if I was to top DQ GO then I would go with SiC over any other option. I agree the combo you used is INSANE. UK + Sic is HARD to beat! Super excited to see if DQUARTZ GO can match or exceed that in the long term.

    Looking forward to buying this from Sky's the Limit store. I previously bought UK3.0 + Gliss V2 from your shop, and prepped my new Tesla (even clay barred it but didn't iron-X it). I always wear a P100 3M respirator while applying any ceramic coats due to the solvents. Applied 2 coats UK3.0 and 1 coat GlissV2, and 16 months in, my Tesla's ceramic coat still beads water and easy to hand wash. Of course, my vehicles are garage kept and handwashed only, so I am expecting the ceramic coat to last 3-5 years.

    My experience with Carpro has always been incredible. I fully trust the brand 💯. I've got a '22 Toyota GR circuit and have the front PPF'd, I coated it with 2 layers of SIC. For the rest of the non PPF area, I applied 2 layers of CQ UK 3.0 *and* 2 layers of SIC. The results are still like day 1. I wash the car mainly with ECH20 and now Absolute.
    18 months later, there was no change in water behaviour, and that dripping gloss look.
    I'm so happy that I've bought another new car adding to the fleet coming in March. I've arranged the front to be PPF'D again, this time I've bought in preparation Gtechiq Halo V2 specifically for the PPF. For the rest of the car, wheels, trims, plastic rear lamp units, metal/zinc plated brake calipers and everything else except the glass I have two kits of Dquartz Go to apply. I'll probably coat the underside and area on the chassis that's prone to dirt build up areas. I'll even remove the plastic wheel arch liners to coat behind those also.
    Then I shall wait 12 hours before applying Bilt Hamber Dynax UC and a Bilt Hamber specific chassis anti corrosion cavity wax so that the under side will stay rust free for years.I love Carpro and Bilt Hamber combo as they have worked well togetheron this car that I'lluse the same principles on my next car.
    I'd love to know more about Carpro, where the factory is based that produces Dquartz Go, how they blended it, and everything behind the scenes. I imagine they use industrial diamonds like the kind used for industrial concrete disc cutters for example? But much more refined and microns smaller? I just find the science behind it so very interesting - you've got to geek out about all of this as it's so interesting, to me, at least. 😊
    I can't wait for the updates on this coating. It'll be good to see other content creators check out Dquartz Go also. 😊

      @SkyCarCare Thanks Corey, My thoughts exactly, 3.0 and SIC are amazing together. Just remember not to use Reload on top of all of that until both are fully cured and some because Reload can react badly on top of those coatings when combined. It'll turn the coatings cloudy. You can use Reload after 48 hours or a good few days ideally. I can't wait to use Dquartz Go months time and counting. Personally, I think Dquartz will be the coating of 2024 and beyond I'm certain. I am a little bit obsessed with Carpro products....they just have their product line just perfect. I like their strong concentration they use in the products, I cannot complain or make any suggestions as they have nailed their brand. 🙌

      Good morning Paul! Tough choice because either of those 2 combos will be AWESOME! If he or you want that really slick feeling then do the Sic on top. With regards to performance I think its going to be similar over the long term with either combo you mention. DQ+Sic or DQ+DQ. With Release, I would say wait as long as possible before using. In other words give it at LEAST one hour from when you apply the last coat. If he lives very nearby and you have sunshine and no nasties gonna land on the paint then you do not need release.

    Is there a way to increase the "hardness" of PPF by applying this? The self healing layer top coat of my PPF doesn't really work, so want to just use traditional coatings. Really conflicted on whether to apply this or what I normally use (CSL + EXO)

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question, if your self healing is no longer working then I have not seen any downside to coating PPF but it is not going to make it too hard regardless of what coating you use just by the nature of the softness of the film below. Having said that, the water spot and chemical resistance we have seen out of this DQUARTZ tech is next level so regardless of "hardness" you can't go wrong with the effects you get from it. Good luck!

  • @soapa4279
    @soapa4279 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Great video, though I do wonder why it's never advised to use coatings on PPF? I've honestly had 5 cars with PPF applied with CQuartz UK 3.0 and they've held up just as good as on paint. I know there's supposed to be the "flexible" or "malleable" variable as PPF is supposed to be slightly softer than paint, but I've never had any issues.

    • @SkyCarCare
      @SkyCarCare  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks Soap! It seems to be fine with a lot of coatings on PPF although may or may not hold up as long depending on the PPF. In the case of DQUARTZ GO, it being a harder coating than most I can see that theoretically you wouldn't want to add it to something ultra flexible, especially self-healing ppf. While in theory, that makes sense, I am not convinced one way or the other personally.

      No, that is not normal. They vary between coatings and of course temperature and humidity but for us it is as follows. DQUARTZ 10 ~ 15 minutes in 70F. CQUARTZ UK we find is usually ok after 5 but is still GREAT and easy peasy at 7 ~ 10 so we do that at that time. Sic on the other hand is 5 minutes or less generally. DLUX or Lite are very fast.

The only cons to this is the price point. Now the pros here is that one layer will offer the benefits of say a coating that you had to add multiple layers. Great question Ryan but a tough one. With regards to putting Sic on top of DQUARTZ GO I think this is going to be an AMAZING combo if the DQ GO works with it as well as DQ Pro 2023 did. As far as 2 base layers... Theoretically speaking - 2 layers base coat should be better than one just like with UK but I have not been able to test side by side in a controlled environment that combo of 2 base coats. In a practice sense it may well be overkill but I suspect it would add something. Whether it is worth the extra time I am not sure... The more coats - the more you reach a point of diminishing returns imo. I definitely would never do more than 3 total coats.

If you hover over the video above and then move your cursor to the timeline that runs across the bottom of the video and move your cursor near the end you will see a section called "Curing, Topcoats, and Times." Personally i feel a disclaimer of sorts should be on the label somewhere saying “results of durability may vary depending vehicle driving environment, maintenance of coating and storage conditions (I.e. indoor/outdoor parking) or something along those lines. Who is this coating for? Someone who is going to wash less? Someone that washes more due to the higher hardness? Resistance to micro marring? I’m in the market for a coating and I’m trying to decide which one will work best for me. I live in MN so chemical resistance is important.

      @SkyCarCare  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thanks for the great question Karl. If DQUARTZ GO is anywhere near the results we have had over the pas year with DQUARTZ Pro then this is your best option for chemical resistance.
      As far as who this is good for.... This one is better against wash marring than other coatings but always best to use a good mitt like Microfiber Madness Delimitt XL or CARPRO Merino wool on soft paints. Coatings are best for people that want the car to be easier to wash but are still willing to wash them. If someone is NEVER going to wash their car then you can make an argument for OR against a coating.... It will be good to have for that guy but its going to mess up the beading and integrity of coating over time if its sitting outside and never getting washed. The coating works by its ability to repel everything really well! However... if you NEVER wash then eventually it starts to build up enough stuff that it can't repel the incoming filth. It need to be cleaned often enough so that it can do its job repelling what is incoming. In a perfect world you would wash a daily driver every 2 weeks or even ever single week if you could. However if you rarely wash then its still protecting your paint... it just is not going to perform as well the way to beads water eventually.
