I was around in the 70's and wore a lot of her (Biba) make-up, in fact, I had several of these eye shadows, especially the lavender (we just said "purple" back then), and also her yummy blushes! and we weren't afraid to color our cheeks with them, either. We LOVED our blushes!!! 🤗
Miss the make-up we had back in the 70's. I still have a few items in the back of my drawers. A few perfumes, too. Could never bring myself to toss them out.
They don't make make-up today like they used to. Didn't realize back then that we had it so good. Thanks again for this great video trip down memory lane. 😘

      Lisa Eldridge
Until the earthquakes destroyed my city, and most of my personal collections of predominently are deco items, when out looking for items that interested me, I often looked out for *_™Mary Quant_* items. I come from a family that includes six sisters, and looked at my older sisters as style icons. I loved the _Quant_ logo at the age of seven and still think it is one of the most inspired and timeless of post World War II cosmetics. If you have the time and/or opportunity, I'd love to know if you have anything to say about the *™Mary Quant* brand.

I still have some Mary Quant paint pots from the early 70s in an old travel bag, I believe. I know I still have one 70s powder blush in my makeup drawer. It is hard to get rid of things with sentimental value! Funny that I was buying and wearing Mary Quant in San Francisco then, but I don’t recall Biba cosmetics ever being available here. My most recent Mary Quant purchase was a beautiful baby pink powder blush that I wear at least a couple of times a week. I had just bought it from the website when she passed away. 😢 I loved her lingerie in the late 60s, too.

The model is gorgeous, she really fits this makeup look. Lisa you are absolutely inspiring. I had never looked at makeup as something that could be considered art or anything more than to "beautify" basically. Just watching your videos have inspired me to create new looks for myself and to look at makeup as an art, a form of expression and femininity. I love how passionate you are about this. By far one of the best makeup experts out there.

I have come back to this video several times and it is always refreshing to think about makeup so differently. I often think why are we still so strict to things which seem natural when makeup can be such a great outlet for expression, imagine if every person woke up in the morning and thought as freely about the things that they could put on their face as they are starting to about their clothing, it would be so interesting just looking around and seeing faces like this one, which though it may seem strange is undeniably beautiful. I think the Lisa Eldridge channel is a one-stop shop for a healthy open outlook on all that makeup has to offer. Thank you for that.

I still have my crayons from Biba in Kensington High Street. They are almost completely used, but I kept them so much I love them. I didn't realize they were vintage! I don't know how many years I used them! I never had a skin problem because of them, lucky me! :-) I am still using a Mary Quant palette from the same period that I love so much too!
I certainly miss this big department store, I loved going there...

So well done!! I knew it was Biba before I even watched the video! The model is perfect, my name is Claudia as well. I used to love this makeup when I was like ten to twelve, thirteen years of age. I’m 59 now. And yes, they were SO ahead of their time. It’s sad to think that I actually used this makeup in London, the David Bowie, Twiggy era, and now it’s half a century old 😢💄💋

That was incredibly evocative for me - exactly how I made up my face in the early 70’s with the amazing Biba makeup - very trance-y , very hippieish , at 60, I still love makeup and I thought this was one of the best makeup videos I’ve ever seen - thank you for the memories . I do remember having the most extraordinary electric green metallic cream eyeshadow that took me ages to blend out with a brush, it came in a black glass pot - of all the makeup I’ve thrown away , this is the item I regret losing .

Brilliant Lisa! I was too young to wear makeup at this time, but remember the look well. Longingly looking through fashion mags marketed to young mods and flower children, I would use my pencil crayons to draw faces, hair, dresses and boots to feel part of the scene. While all my friends were wearing their first nail polish in 'Prom Pink' I wore Yardley's 'Earth Apple Brown'. Please continue taking us on these delightful journeys.

I remember having a "china doll" blouse like what the model is wearing when I was in high school. Wore it with jeans. Ahhh the 70's. Loved that era. Disco, long straight swinging hair, angel sleeves and Steely Dan. Gas was 25 cents a gallon and my friends and I used to sneak into clubs and drink grasshoppers and brandy alexanders. Those were the good ol days.

I was post-college then, living and working in San Francisco, and having a BALL! Gosh, I was out every night, dancing and listening to music, never got tired. The music was great; Steely Dan is still my favorite American group. I had fabulous clothes, shopped at a boutique that sold English and French ready-to-wear. Wonderful times, wish I could be transported back! Youth is everything.

When I was 14 my grandmother's sister gave me a silvered pale blue eyeshadow from the 70s and stupidly I simply used it and allowed my mother to discard the packaging. It wasn't Biba, I'm not sure the brand, it seemed to be a refill for a palate, as it was in a tiny cardboard rectangle press, cased in a clear plastic tab. I wish I still had it now!

That look is so fantastically fabulous. The model you picked for this tutorial is perfect. Those unusual pigmented colours look amazing on her!

Can I be real? 'Instagram' makeup only looks good on specific eye and face shapes and it feels lile if you can't look instagram perfect your makeup isn't good or worth it... What happened to originality and fun with makeup? :(

Claudia is so beautiful, I'm glad she didn't get a pink eye. You're my favorite makeup artist, Lisa. You inspire me to start my own vintage makeup collection!

After watching this I ordered some unused vintage makeup from the 40s and smeared it all over my face and then fed the container to my dog.

Spectacular look! I wish it on young ladies who have the Biba courage and to wear it out on the town or shopping in a trendy area of a big, delightful city.
